I do like this comment/idea though:

@milomindbender: "At the very least, the right and left punditry alike needs to have the words "this is a paid advertisement" on the screen just like we require TV infomercials to have. Better though would be for full disclosure of WHO those paid advertisers are so at least people are made aware of what sort of toxic waste they are consuming."

Glad you like it. I'm just looking for truth-in-advertising because statistically speaking...roughly 40% of the humans population functions quite literally at or below the level of Koko-the-talking-gorilla. That is MORE than enough to swing an election.

True...we can't "childproof the world"...but if some goofball doesn't know he shouldn't use a hairdryer in the shower he at least only kills himself. If some goofball thinks he should take bought-and-paid-for punditry seriously...he takes his opinions to the polls risks killing millions or 10 of millions by voting for a loosely hinged candidate who might just go ahead and start WWIII. And that's true in ANY election...not just this one w/ all the hype about Iran.

Nothing is idiot-proof...but we at least need to make the "news" idiot-resistant.

Lies don't balance anything out.

True.

But opinions appear to.

Not if the opinion is based on a lie. Then it doesn't really count as a valid opinion, does it?

How does Comcast allow such wretched bias in presidential coverage?

ON MSNBC, the ratio of negative to positive stories on GOP candidate Mitt Romney was 71 to 3.

and:

The ratio of negative to positive stories in Fox's coverage of President Obama was 46 to 6.

Whose is the bigger propaganda machine?

Who knows? You cannot draw any valid statistical conclusion from the data you provided or what Pew is pawning off as "research".

The entire analysis is based upon what the "tone" of the story was to determine if it was "negative" or "positive" and the actual Pew "study" does not list any criteria for determining what establishes something as "positive" or "negative" or even what stories are "about" the Candidates. If their name is mentioned..does that count? Or does the piece have to actually be about and ONLY about the candidates? Who knows? Certainly not anybody using the Pew "study" as their data BECAUSE THEY DON'T ADDRESS THEIR METHODS!!

Not only that...did you know that in any academic paper you must also cite what software and formulas you are using to compile and analyze your data? You know why? BECAUSE THEY ALL PRODUCE DIFFERENT NUMBERS!! In fact, Microsoft Excel's math engine is so poorly programmed that Microsoft FINALLY got around to hiring an ACTUAL scientific computing firm to improve their algorithmic calculations for Excel 2013 for 82 DIFFERENT FUNCTIONS THAT WERE PRODUCING WRONG ANSWERS. That's right. If you used Excel anywhere from it's inception to now to run statistical or financial calculations (especially bond and TVM calcs)...there is a good chance that YOUR NUMBERS WERE WRONG. Hell...there are even errors and discrepancies when between "big-boy" statistical software programs like STATA, SPSS, R, and SAS.

This is "research" so shoddy that it wouldn't even pull a "C" in a freshman statistics class at a community college. Yet...you are wholeheartedly gobbling it up because IT'S WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR AND WISH TO BE TRUE.

YOU NEVER ONCE STOPPED TO ASK YOURSELF IF THIS DATA IS EVEN VALID OR EXPERIMENTALLY SOUND!!

This is why we must label the "news" as "This is A Paid Advertisement".

I go to the AP Wire for a lot of my news. Usually CNN/MSNBC/Fox just grabs stories from the AP and expands on them and adds their own spin.

I like my news with as little spin as possible.

The AP makes a pretty cool iphone app, I'm always abreast of new developments because of the alerts. You can even specify which types of news you want to be alerted.

I don't care about fancy graphs.

It is plain as day that the concept of "lesser of two evils" is completely irrelevant:

All the evils, big and small, unite together for our downfall.

I start with AP on my iPhone every morning.

Then I usually come here because (with a little work and discernment) - - I get varied sides of the story.

I like different perspectives - - before I go read any of the MSM sites.

I do the same thing each morning before I hit the shower!

When I watch TV news, I go back and forth between CNN/MSNBC/Fox.

What troubled me this week, is Fox was going on and on about Obama and the consulate attacks -- not even covering NYC or Hurricane Sandy.

It was so odd to see every other network covering a variety of stories with Sandy being the biggest, and then there's FOX just harping away for hours non-stop about the dead ambasador. Once an hour or so, they'd break for like 5 minutes to cover something else.

Just sayin'...

I honestly can not watch FOX anymore. And it used to be the only news show I would watch.

Its like a circus with Carnival Barkers. Emotionally they definitely get you going - - and pull you in - - just like a Carnival Barker.

No thanks.

Anyone who watches any of these "News Networks" and expects facts are sadly deluded. I don't care what channel you watch, they are all guilty of lying and making up stories as has been documented many times.

Even Anderson Cooper was recently busted fabricating a story for his bosses. There is no integrity in "news for hire" networks. Only an idiot would believe anything "Reported" on them.

Do what I do. Turn your boob tube to anything non-news related like music or "Wipeout".

I enjoy the news shows - - and get stuff out of them. But - - they're not my only source.

Do any of you remember when Fox News first started? Nobody thought they would ever make it. They would get low ratings and downhill from there. Truth is if your a Democrat you don't like Fox News. Thats fine but gone are the days of when your only choices were ABC,NBC and CBS.

Now you have many choices and that is only good. I don't have to tell you who dominates the ratings. It sure isn't MSNBC. I have always been a CNN viewer. Best political coverage hands down. The only show that I will watch on Fox News is RedEye. It's funny. Relax people, you have a choice.

Hilarious that you take your graph from media matters, a liberal site. Fox News may favor conservatism, but they are still fair and balanced and always have a left's opinion on the issues. America would be in the dark if it weren't for Fox News. Take a look at Benghazi. The networks, CNN and MSNBC haven't covered it at all for fear of ruining their messiah's chance of getting re-elected. Fox, along with alternative news websites, have given us the truth about this major scandal that has new developments everyday. Those of you stuck with the liberal main stream media don't know the half of it. You're fed lies and you chew it up!

OP, just ask yourself who seems to be bringing the most relevent data to public knowledge over the Benghazi affair. Then extend that view to the way all of the other networks support Obama. Fox may not always be right, but they don't tend to omit the relevent news either.

I'm assume that you assume Obama's many secrets are just nasty Fox attacks with no merit and it couldn't possibly be that those issues are ignored by all of the other networks.

For me, the common knowledge that Bill Ayres, a convicted terrorist felon, was the Obama's babysitter is all it takes for me to draw the line. All the rest is just icing on the dirty Obama cake.

This is what I was waiting for. This is why I posted the thread because as I said people actually believe what FOX tells them.

Fox says they are fair - it may be a small percentage but people believe it.

Fox says it’s balanced - again it maybe a small percentage but people believe it.

Fox perpetrates strait out lies and starts rumors - again…. well you get the point.

These people vote and they have been completely duped they believe anything they are told and more of them watch Fox.

It doesn’t matter what you show them or where the source comes from if it goes against their chosen MSM network tells them they will not listen.

I know all the MSM networks lie but FOX is by far the worst in perpetrating fraud and duping the nation.

I have known this to be true for as long as I can remember. Why... my mother only believes Fox because they told her they are fair and balanced. Whenever I visit her the TV is tuned in to it.

I remember when the whole family gathered around the TV at night to listen to the one and only news station.

When news was actually news.

CNN used to be my computer homepage - - until they made everything videos. I like to read. Had to switch to MSNBC.

You can't slam one outlet and conveniently ignore the others.

In this corner we have a right leaning news channel, doing great in the ratings.
In that corner we have CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, PBS, MSNBC, plus a few others, moderating debates and baby sitting for Obama, yet not doing so well in the ratings.

What does that tell you?

Americans are idiots?

The mainstream news networks are as liberal or conservative as the corporations that own them. Bottom line. If people insist on having their opinions given to them by corporations well, they deserve what they get.

Except have you paid attention to what came about the claims Fox has made about stand down orders. Because of Fox the CIA released info to dispel the claims that they would have held back because it may have compromised missions, personnel, and classified Intel but because Fox was so reckless and it seemed to be influencing elections they came out and dispelled those claims.

Of course Fox with their unconfirmed sources and I heard it from somebody who knows somebody who heard from someone that is in the loop claims will still be believed by the Fox junkies no matter what they say.

Fox has done more to divide the nation than any other network and it should also be mentioned they have released the name of a former Navy Seal that was involved in the Osama bin Laden Raid which compromised his safety at the same time voicing concerns about possible classified information in his book. There have been a few other instances where they released sensitive information and knew it. It wasn’t in the name of reporting but because it was against their agenda or they didn’t like the person they didn’t care. Honestly where have most of the media rumors originated? Answer Fox.

I could keep listing things but if you can’t see it then you are in the bubble.

To address the matter of my source.

Argument the source is liberal.. Argumentum ad hominem so please prove the information wrong.

Besides from what I can gather if it isn’t far right then everything is labeled left so it would be hard to find anything that wasn’t labeled as lefty Bias.
