And the politicians just love this stuff dont they? Makes it seem like they are actually doing something. You get off the damn beach Chris Christie!

So you're judging the effects of one storm against another based on how long it took to get power back?

Please tell me you're too young to vote.

"WHY is everyone in SUCH a panic about hurricane (i'm calling it Sally)..? Stop projecting negativity! Think positive and pray for peace," she posted on her Twitter page. Read more: www.foxnews.com...

thank you for donating such intense and informational feedback, I am simply relaying the info I have received, it was intended to mean that if my Aunt in Ohio is having part of her house blow away I can only imagine what it was like in NJ.

Surely this is a good thing? Are they not there for disaster relief?

Yes, because a sample size of you deems it no biggy based on the length of your power outage, it was overhyped. Never mind the thousands who are either dying, getting injured, losing their homes, getting flooded, losing their businesses - yes, let's ignore them. The ignorance astounds...

The horror! The horror!

If the siding was ripping off from your home you would be praying that the storm would stop and leave you alone.
I'm sure you're comfortable somewhere well outside the damage zone of the storm-
Lucky you.
Others are not so fortunate and have lost everything.
Are we so self-centered that we cannot feel for the suffering of others anymore?
Or maybe your have suffered great loss before and no one cared to help you.
Either way I feel sorry for you as one of the most important aspects of your humanity is in danger of disappearing.

Don't know if it is related but NASA's SOHO Satellite website is down.

Are they hiding something like the sun just threw a solar flare at us.....or did this little storm take out the SOHO website??

It did. I guess before it went down a big filament broke off. What I didn't notice is what direction this was pointed. So maybe those 2 are related.

I found a link for it.

sdodata.oma.be...

Don't know how that would affect the weather at this point if it was pointed at us. we've gotten alot of flares and cme's and no storm like Sandy.

No, I wouldn't. I'm not sure what siding is but I know praying to a made up Sky Pixie wouldn't fix it. I'd be more inclined to be outside fixing it. Or wondering what the hell it is and who put it there.

My geographical placement has nothing at all to do with luck. It's a combination of accident of birth and choice.

Yes. 52 people in Hiati for example. Oh I think someone died in Jamaica? But still, they weren't American so they don't count according to the news. Nowhere near as dramatic as this aunt that had some siding (whatever the hell it is) come off and some water come through a window.

If true then I feel sorry for you as one of the most important aspects of your humanity is missing.

You can keep your fake pity, I neither need, nor want it.

Too bad the welfare of others is more often only a concern during disasters and special occasions.

Sandy was a pretty big event, but much bigger is how poorly we treat each other the rest of the time.

The Sandy event will just be another event to capitalise on,like any other.

Looters capitalised in their way, politicians will, crooked contractors will, the media is having a great time with it...

I work for a non-profit organisation,I have a different viewpoint and perspective of these events.

Absolutely everything is a scam to get more than one deserves, even most charities.

This storm will be capitalised upon.

It was hyped a wee bit and I'm afraid to say had you been in Queensland Australia early 2011, you'll see "Hurricane" Sandy is a walk in the park.

I amended the last part of my post and I apologize if I sounded insulting.
Dead people in Haiti and Jamaica count as far as I'm concerned.
Elderly people can't afford to replace things on their home which often aren't covered by insurance or denied by them. That's a big deal if you happen to have part of your house ruined.

Still, many have lost their homes, their cars, jobs, even whole communities are wiped out.
The forecaster had never seen such a combination of weather and to be on the safe side issued alerts representative of the worst that could happen.
That's not hype, that's just precaution.

To be clear I don't pity you, I feel badly that you don't feel a connection to the rest of humanity.
You're really missing out on something good if you don't.
I save my pity for those who cannot help themselves, you obviously can take of yours just fine.
Peace

The horror! The horror!

All morning I watched a news caster yelling "Another rescue going on!" get the camera on that!

They were walking boats out with people in them in one to two feet of water! it is not freezing cold either for those that talk hypothermia.

The sand fence is still up on the beach, the beach front houses are intact in NJ, they kept up a headline...BOARDWALK DAMAGED! Our walks disappear every year, we have to put them back after each winter pretty much.

They made a big deal of the trees downed, every winter we have hundreds of trees fall, everyone keeps a chainsaw and ready to cut a tree to get to work.

Yes it is hyped, the docks are intact the main damage was to little islands and only people doing dumb stuff were hurt.

The main tragic part of the storm is damage to sewer and water utilities as far as what i have seen. Hoping Nuke plants are all ok.

Big storm yes, not fun being without water and electric but it is not as bad as they are saying in terms of damage. It could have been way worse.

So will those crooked "Non-Profits",and the looters with blue lights on the roof of their cars.

In a capitalist society, nothing is done without a fee being attached somehow.

I understand reimbursement for ones time and energy being invested in something, but this is getting rediculous in the past couple decades.
