Yeah, the weather channel just said it was a 7.7 with a tsunami warning.

No Tsunami Warning yet...

ptwc.weather.gov...

Peace

Really??

google.org...

What does that mean then?

It simply means that those in the business of monitoring and reporting on Tsunamis are saying "No Tsunami Threats".

Of course all MSM outlets are going to make this out to be a major disaster, then pull it back when the excitement has died down. Gotta have the sensationalistic ratings if only for 30 minutes.

I'm going with the experts on this one.

Peace

Jude11, your link is for Hawaii only. There are Tsunamis warnings for the west coast of north america.

You're kidding right?

ptwc.weather.gov...

EVALUATION A WIDESPREAD DESTRUCTIVE TSUNAMI THREAT DOES NOT EXIST BASED ON HISTORICAL EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI DATA. THE WEST COAST AND ALASKA TSUNAMI WARNING CENTER WILL ISSUE INFORMATION REGARDING ANY LOCAL TSUNAMI THREAT TO COASTS NEAR THE EARTHQUAKE EPICENTER. THIS WILL BE THE ONLY BULLETIN ISSUED FOR THIS EVENT UNLESS ADDITIONAL INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE. THE WEST COAST/ALASKA TSUNAMI WARNING CENTER WILL ISSUE PRODUCTS FOR ALASKA...BRITISH COLUMBIA...WASHINGTON...OREGON...CALIFORNIA.

Just click around. The rest of the World is there as well..

Peace

Lol you just won't give up will you? There are multiple reports from multiple sources reporting a tsunami warning, regardless of the size.

We live on a gulf island off vancouver island on the inside. I was just at our beach and no big waves coming in, we are ready to drive up to the highest point on the island (300') if needed and kids/earthquake bags are ready to go.

We should be getting hit in the next few min if anything

Tsunami warning issued after earthquake hits off B.C. coast

Read more: www.ctvnews.ca...

The tsumani warning is real. Now I had it given before it hit the news from the paramedic chopper pilot who is evacuating all their equipment to higher ground.

I hope it turns out to be nothing, but kind of makes me wonder about the drills in Vancouver and the fault line at Queen Charlottes. And I suspect this is not an accident.

Someone said something about Kitimat? That could be dangerous, Alkan is in Kitimat, an aluminum smelter among other industrial there. I live at a higher elevation, but i will let everyone know if anything comes of these tsunami warnings around here. Was Prince Rupert mentioned at all? It's right on the ocean, you'd think they'd be close to the danger zone. Hopefully nothing serious happens.

Look at the aftershocks! They are following the fault (just to the left of it)... BAD sign. Hope this thing doesn't rip like the Sumatra–Andaman event.

Wonder if those smaller red 'quakes' could in fact be rock slides under the ocean and are false positives?

Great job guys, been following since first post

have a friend watching news, which just reported 45 dena meter wave heading to Hawaii.

digging online to see if i can find source to back it up

found a little info

[Update 1:45 a.m.] Here's a recap: A large quake has hit off the coast of Canada. We have just received news that a tsunami warning has been issued as far as Hawaii. If you know you're in an evacuation zone in Hawaii, you need to pack up and move out.
In a little less than three hours, about 10:38 Hawaii time, the first waves will hit Hawaii.
What areas of Hawaii? The towns of Kahului and Hilo are likely to see a succession of waves. The shorelines will be dangerous for a couple of hours. "Basically this tsunami is pointed right at us," said Gerard Fryer, senior geophysicist at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
