Benefit-haters really annoy me.

You would condemn people who already have nothing, to starvation and homelessness because it cost the taxpayer a fortune.
Don't you think we should start saving money where it wouldn't hurt anyone? How about we abolish politicians' expense claims? They already get paid super-inflated salaries so why can't they pay their own work-related expenses like the rest of us have to on a fraction of the pay?

Why don't any of you haters object to funding politicians' luxury lifestyles and work expenses on top of their fat salaries? Why does it not concern you that these people are raking in a fortune, but still take more?

They sit in one of their many homes, sipping single malt and chewing fat cigars all paid for by taxpayer mugs, and have the nerve to dictate a minimum wage no-one can live on. What the hell do they know about living on a 6quid an hour wage? Are they living on minimum wage? Have they personally done it? No they haven't. But they tell YOU that's what YOU'RE gonna live on, even though it would be impossible for them to do the same.

People who need help aren't the scroungers, the real bottom-of-the-barrel scroungers are rich politicians, who are the worst of the worst for filling their already full pockets with taxpayer money which they shouldn't be entitled to, claiming ridiculous expenses they are well able to pay with their ridiculous salaries. 'We're all in it together' my arse! I don't see THEM taking a pay cut as a gesture to help out. In fact, I don't see ANY of them giving up ANYTHING to help out. I can never understand why some people can't see it, but soon jump all over poor people who need help.

British government = Don't do as I do, Do as I SAY!

Just to add that I've seen people with 200 plus rejections in floods of tears wondering what will happen to them. Our local (small town) paper used to carry 12-15 pages of jobs; it now carries HALF a page! There are not more jobs available, unemployment hasn't gone down, it's all a lie! Our town is now populated by eastern european people working for very little or sometimes sums not declared. So don't think that people can just walk out and get a job, that's not what I've seen as Employment specialist, helping people back to work. Some of my disabled clients have never worked and never will; they just couldn't compete.

No, don't believe everything they throw at you. Look in the newspapers, try to look for a job that doesn't involve something you would be really uncomfortable doing yourself and that would not too much damage your coveted living standards. I wish you luck!

I look forward to meeting the less enlightened. Don't expect sympathy.

AS i said it's one thing to make excuses and rant. It's another to make a difference and be yourself why not stand up for what you type and actually do it. Or is it easier hide behind your keyboard and hope your wife doesn't walk in !!!!!!!!!

I didn't mean a 'legit' window round. I meant doing what I can to make ends meet. A bit of cash in hand before some established window cleaner came along and knocked me off my ladders.

Isn't that as bad as not working or taking tax from the government in the form of benefits? Your denying someone legit work to pay the taxes you speak so highly of.

how is the poor little homeless dole bludger using the internet i might ask?

if your homeless and wasting your palty allowances on internet access at cafes etc then right there is one of your problems.

also its not slavery and forced paid free labor because they ARE PAYING YOU, thats what your allowance is, and when you sign up for it you agree to it.

you just sound like another whinging dole bludger to me, annoyed that the government are actually making you DO something for the money they are giving you instead of just pretend you have looked for some work.

hand out 40 resumes a day, you will get a job eventually unless you are actively trying NOT to get work so you can stay on benifits.

also the fact you already stated you had a good job from the sounds of it ( a week of 12 hr shifts) and told them to # off because of a clerical error with your pay tells me you arn't serious about wanting to hold down a job.
most people ACTUALLY looking for work would KILL for a job with 12hr shifts for a week, even at minimum wage thats a decent income to live on. yet you just shat it away because they made a mistake with your pay which they agreed to fix? and yet your posting on the internet on ATS, yep... priorities, you have them straight thats for sure

(also before you respond that i have no idea, i was on the dole here in australia for a lot of my younger life, on and off so i know what im talking about. its not hard to get a job when you actually want one.)

People can not just get a job with a click of a fingure, i've been looking since i graduated from university in June. I have been working since i was 16, i am now 23. This is the longest i've ever been unemployed, even while i was at university, and i have a degree now!

I was getting turned down from part-time/retail jobs because i was "too qualified and we don't believe that you would be commited to a job as such that we are advertising", and other jobs i could not compete with the other candidates because they are all older with much more experience than me in the area, I am like many other graduates, too qualified to work/too young to have relavent experience.

Not everyone on JSA/benifits enjoy being unemployed, it's dull, boring, you can't really go out and have a night out (maybe once a month may have enough to pop down the pub for a couple, but even a pint of Carling is pricing me out now).

I now have only just managed to find a full time job, in Subway, I have had higher paying jobs when i was 19, without a degree.

the problem is that most people out of uni etc have a standard and wont do #-kicker jobs. most cities have hundreds of fast food restaurants always looking for work but people feel like this is worse then being homeless working at a place like that? the jobs are there but peoples standards are too high.

I've been applying to call centres, retail, supermarkets, literaly everything! I had a couple of interviews but nothing came from it. I hated the idea of cold calling people to sell them broadband, worse than any other job (and i've done door to door marketing). I couldn't even get those sh*t jobs, even the horrid jobs are starting to dissapear.

how about service stations? there are thousands of those as well and most are 24hrs and always after night workers. unless your in some rural backwater i dont see how anyone who actually wants to work can't find work, unless your standards are to high and you want a "specific type of job"

hell starting out its just about making an income, get started, get some savings then look ahead to what you actually want to do. also its a hell of a lot easier to get BETTER jobs when you currently have A job, ANY job.

i was on the dole for years on and off, i worked my ass off at every job i ever had, and most wern't the most luxious but i learnt alot and now i have a job doing what i love. i never turned away a job or interview, i never made excuses and if i didn't like the job i stuck it out anyway because i knew i could get a better job down the track if i kept my head down and worked hard. i understand better then most the trap of being unemployed, for a long time i actually enjoyed not working and not having to worry about what i was going to do the next day. its a TRAP, worse then anything to get stuck in.

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH. I was going to go into a rant, but, I stopped myself and thought about what to say here. I was made redundent a couple of years ago and signed on for job seekers allowance. LOOK AT WHAT IT IS CALLED ........................... JOB SEEKERS ALLOWANCE............not doss around and expect me to pay for you allowance. I am a highly skilled furniture maker, I once made a confrence table that cost £64,000 ........ so I guess I can say I'm pretty much at the top of the game. Whilst unemployed I went to sainsbury's, tesco's, mcdonalds, you name it I went there to SEEK A JOB didn't matter what or where as long as I was earning enough to support my family (albeit modestly) . When in South Africa I made the effort to go to sowetto to see REAL poverty and was humbled. I live on an estate where the council throw all the junkies drug dealers and single mums, BUT I pay my mortgage, my taxes, and all my bills. As a home owner I wasn't eligable for help, but if I was renting the council would have paid it for me, Around me I see people that have not worked a day in the 6 years I've lived here but are more than capable of doing so, they have better T.V.'s than me because I can't afford a 42" plasma (because I'm paying for guys like you). Are we gonna take it dossers whinging because they are scared of work ....... NO ............. Is it time you got off your lazy arse and stopped EXPECTING us to pay for you ....... YES .......... You obviously have access to a computer and internet try looking for a sodding job whilst using it instead of whining that the rest of us are sick of paying for you to sit around on your lazy arse whinging the job seekers isn't enough to buy a 3D T.V. and the latest X-box. Make and stand against the government ? ........... HELL YEAH ......... TO CUT YOUR BENIFITS AND FORCE YOU TO WORK. Just athought the army is recruting. Ever thought of helping to protect the freedom you obviously enjoy, or is it easier to sit around complaining and let the rest of us die for your stupidity ? YES I am also an ex soldier/ If I'd known at the time that I was fighting for this kind of opinion I'd have laid down my weapons and let them in. If only to rid us of our self mede parasites. If you don't like then sodding well leave. You live in free country with free choice .................... the chice to leave is your's sir. Or don't you have the balls to take the consequences of your actions?
Peace

You're making it sound like i could just go down the road and get a job. I have applied to god knows how many jobs, had to relocate from my home town to a city in hope of finding a job because i ran out of places back at home. I am unaware of the nearest service station as i don't drive, i want to drive but alas, i can't afford it.
I would happily work nights, i used to do shift work in a factory every summer when i was on break from University, i prefered that job, 12hr nights/mornings, a garenteed £250 per week and always overtime needed, but these are not available as much as they used to be, Derby has just been hit by a contract being flogged to Germany to make our trains instead of the factory in Derby. I don't know if you have noticed, but businesses are failing left, right and centre, they are not employing as many people as several years ago because they are trying to shave of costs everwhere, and that includes their work force, which not only means harder for people to get jobs, but people loosing jobs.

If it was as easy as "throw around a load of CVs and you will get a job", it would not of taken me 4months, signing up to 6 agencies, and moving from one city, to my home town, to a different city.

i obviously know its not easy and i dont mean to make it sound that way im just saying you have to take it in context. i've been there, i've done it, and my comments were mainly based at the OP. if he is finding a way to post on the internet when he is homeless, something is going on a lot deeper then not being able to find work.
im sure you can say yourself if you had a job with 12hr shifts you wouldn't throw it away after a week because of a pay error?

Some of our less enlightened posters would prefer to give their money to lying bankers than to those who have as much entitlement to an existence as they. I suggest they try to live on what others "scrounge" and see how long they last, and not just for a day either.

Take a look inside yourselves, preferably via the rectum, and ask yourselves will the Tories care when it's you? That's the only time that they and I will ever have anything in common, because nor will I.

Thank you for posting your woes from the other side of the pond.

I hate to say this, but your problems make mine seem miniscule by comparison.

Have you thought about working under the table? I know that is illegal, but your survival is at stake.

I’ve thought about it myself…but cannot bring myself to do it just yet as I am still in my comfort zone and don’t want the trouble it could bring.
