You're talking about face (key recognition) book. I can't go there.... It's like a nightmare that has no end, and unlimited funding by virtue of mere ego desire. Sorry to hear you were caught in the net.

you're not connected yet!~is what you ought to be seeing when you accidentally click on a fb link.

They probably wont say a thing to your face if they know you can handle yourself.
As you will find in life that most sheeple think they have what it takes in front of
a monitor/laptop.
So like most have said dont encourage a fight use your inteligence to make them
see that they are being silly over an opinion.

AND above all keep your head held high, as its a sign of confidence

Just to introduce myself before this thread.
I am a junior in high school, I live in a very big city full of sheeple. i also go to a high school full of sheeple. But anyways.

I had watched the presidential debate this evening. And i posted a Facebook status about me actually leaning towards Mitt Romney. Within seconds i had 50 + Comments giving me insults about how my opinion is wrong, When it is an Opinion! Am i not allowed to have an opinion any more? All i could do was piss them off more and tell them how ignorant they are for saying these things and not having there own opinion.

I would love to actually have a respectful debate with an Obama supporter who goes to my school. Not a bash against me telling me how racist i am for voting for a white man. PEOPLE ARE RIDICULOUS. it makes me angry how people think i am racist for being for Mitt Romney and against Obama!

How do i go about going to school tomorrow? Do i just deal with that Evil eye and that occasional threat? I can handle myself pretty well, but with all this hate towards me, I wouldn't doubt a fight.

Lol, they called you racist??? Kindly remind them that Obama is just as much Caucasian as he is African American.

The way I see it, you have two problems...

1) you actually care what other people think. This is an issue because for some reason you perceive your own self worth by the adulation or scorn of others. My humble suggestion is, if you are to continue to voice your opinion which you DO have a right to, you also must grow some thicker skin in order to not let other's opinions of your opinion bother you.

2) You mistake your opinion for an uncontested fact. When you voice your opinion, you must be open to reactions to that opinion. Detractors to your opinion may challenge your opinion, and that's called debate. Now, in high school, many young people haven't matured enough to debate without resorting to ad hominem attacks. This is to be expected.

Now, if your facebook opinion was something to the effect of the popular "It's called the White House for a reason" support for Mitt Romney, then yes, you are going to elicit remarks calling you a racist. Otherwise, please, grow a spine, accept the idea that people may not like your opinion, and get on with life.

You do have a right to your opinion, but other people have that same right.

Do yourself a favor, delete your Facebook before you have to deal with it haunting you in your adult life, I say this not because of your Mitt Romney post, but in all honesty, stop participating in such a thing. Value your privacy.

or Option number dos;

Stop GAF about what other ppl say and let them 'suck it' so to speak, however I'd go with the first option, thank me in 20 years.

I've been off Facebook for nearly a year and a half now, and honestly I don't think that it's feasible to suggest people simply get off Facebook. I think it's better to have a Facebook, but to be very wary of what you post on it and which groups you join on it. I also would be aware of what images you upload and just generally everything you share. Facebook, and social media in general, is going to become a necessity to browsing the web; online anonymity will soon meet its end.

With that being said, if you want a Facebook for your personal musings, take the following steps to obscure your identity and prevent blowback in the future:
Sign up under an alias which your peers will recognize you by, but will make you hard to search for via search engines; i.e. a "gangster" name or a childhood nickname.
Use an obscured photo which makes you hard to recognize, or don't use a photo at all.
Find ways to work around providing your phone number.
Create a new email address solely for Facebook/social media, sign up under that email address, not your personal one.
Add only people who you actually talk to; this may result in a small number of friends but my primary goal is to use social media as a means of keeping in touch with people I know, not to hold a popularity contest or a beauty pageant.
So on and so forth.

If you feel the need to express yourself, go do art, don't make a pompous status post.

Post highschool you won't be in contact with like 99% of the kids you grew up with anyways, so you really don't need a large collective of people who you don't really know, or want to get to know, on your Facebook page.

Take pity on the intolerant morons. I doubt any of them have a real grasp on what either candidate really stands for. My 13 year old son told me that his science teacher said in class that if Romney is elected we will use all of our nations oil up in 4 years and then be totally dependent of foreign oil. He also told the class that in 4 years all the arctic ice will be melted and that polar bears will be extinct. It is this kind of nonsense that kids are exposed to on a daily basis that keeps them ignorant and uninformed.

Wee man dont sweat the small stuff. Votes dont mean anything anyways. If anybody bugs you that much at School crack him/her(Maybe not her) one in the mouth!

Not for anything as trivial as which way you vote though i have to add!

Your are correct in the assumption most people are sheeple, thats why a smack in the mouth usually dissuades bullys.

Dont start taking crap now because thats how life will continue for you. If anyone trys to come the proverbial vagina with you then do something because evil prevails when good men fail to act!

Goodluck!

You are a thinking person with a good grasp on reality. They are sheep that are oblivious of the facts. Be proud that you have a good head on your shoulders and are not a victim of the racism/lies from the left. Do not change the way you think simply because others disagree. Search for truth. The truth is that electing only black Presidents from now on is not going to happen and it is racist to elect a President solely on his color.

I think it great your into politics but i would not go out discussing them with others your age. The truth is anyone who is in middle school, high school, or even collage for that matter have not stepped into the real world and understand what’s it’s all about. I was like you and wanting to talk economics and politics at a young age but found out really fast teenagers don’t give a rip or there so easily manipulated and immature to hold a true debate. It’s like talking to a rock. There just not old enough to form their own opinions

There two things you should never discus at school with your peers and that religion and politics. It only gets people mad at you. You might be mature enough to hold the conversation but 98% of the people your age cant.

I'm going to ask a very sensitive question. It's okay if you don't want to answer. The reason I'm going to ask it is because I'm wondering about something which will become clear when I ask the question.

Are the kids who harassed you black or white?

What's it to be sport? You a junior high kid or the father of a son with a bolt-action .22? Are you both or neither???

Take a day off school and take your son out to visit uncle who was experimented on! Damn, but those tennis balls must itch like all hell!

Good for you kid, take their hatred as a badge of honor. It's not so much who you support, but rather being true to yourself and refusing to give into peer pressure. Maybe tomorrow you will decide romney is not that great, and you are free to change your mind, just don't do it because others coerced you to do it.

why does that matter what color they are. The point is i would just save yourself the greef, dont talk about the election with peers, you cant vote yet anyways, and if you must, you better make sure you have every angle covered with true facts and numbers to shut up the crowds. At that young of an age your peers are only chanting the talking point on TV. they are to young to think for themselfs so i would not even bother trying to talk politics with them.

Pure curiosity, I confess. That's why I told him he doesn't have to answer.

It's a sociological question.

Good job! There is enough crazy stuff going on in the world without having to make stuff up. I hope he offers some sort of explanation but I doubt he will have the courage to respond.

I think this is your first education in the world of divisive politics.

America is doing it wrong, your voting choice should be a personal choice, kept to yourself like religion. It should be a private matter.

Try asking those people for a debate. Tell them that you are willing to hear all opinions, but that attacking you personally for your choice is wrong.

No one has the right to tell you how to vote, but people in the US are increasing the volatility by openly screaming about their decision. No one should care who someone else is voting for, that is where the US public is going drastically wrong and why politics is becoming an almost violent aspect of American life.

If people keep their choice to themselves none of this would be an issue. Stop cheer leading for a part and just vote for yourself based on what each candidate stands for on the issues important to you.

It's really not hard to do, but Americans have turned this into a team sport where they feel they have the right to dictate to others how they should vote.
