New video posted by Anonymous on YouTube....Amanda Todd is a media scheme

There were at least five instances the parents had to have known what was going on:

1) when the cops showed up at 4 am, I doubt a 13 (?) Year old would answer the door by herself at 4 am.

2) when she moved schools, the parents had to know something, maybe not every detail, but something.

3) her overdose from prescription medicine

4) her father picking her up when she was in a ditch

5) her cuts on her arm

So with all due respect to everyone involved, I think the parents should have thrown this girl's computer out the window and got her psychiatric help, not just anti depressants, which have been known to cause suicidal tendencies.


6) her overdose from bleach the first time. How many warnings do the oarents need?

7) how is it everyone knows who she is online but not her parents? Didn't they see this video before she committed suicide?

If Amanda Todd was only 13 or 15 when she showed her boobs online, I don't think google would allow that pic to remain in the Images search. It's still there. Something may not be quite right about this story.

Her story is in the washington post, so (sadly) it's real enough.

Yes. In order to plan a successful suicide, you have to keep up appearances. People really don't want to hear that you want to commit suicide and berate you for it instead of trying to help you figure out how to solve a problem. They just don't want to hear it so they will put you down.

I don't know if this is the case here, though.

As far as anonymous goes, they are no heroes, they are just doing this for the lols.

I'm done with this story because it is pure media manipulation and the worst part about it is that her parents are in on the scheme.

This girl was exposing herself on a webcam site to numerous boys and men and I will leave it at that. Do you own research.

Now that Ive read more about it, its my opinion that this is some kind of ant-bullying or internet safety, marketing scheme and this "Amanda Todd" is actually an actress.
There is no way one person could stalk a little girl for 3 years without a HUGE investigation and the guy being caught, just no way.
To many things just dont add up.

I've gone back and forth on my opinion and now I think I have it nailed.

This girl was using a webcam site to show off her goods on a regular basis. She had a few loyal followers of hers that got too close and instead of telling her parents the truth she lied and said she was being bullied. That is why she had such a rough time in school. Her classmates knew what she was up to and when she slept with someone else boyfriend it was the last straw and they beat her up.

I'm not saying that the treatment that she received was in any way right, but she had it coming.

The worst part is that her parents STILL defend her because they probably a) don't know the full extent of what she was doing online or b) know exactly was she was doing and instead of letting the story die with her they are using it as a ploy to gain fame.

It is bullying prevention month, you know.

That's not how Google works, they have no control over the content that your search returns. If it exists online and is indexed properly, a working search engine will find it.

How you can say 'she had it coming' with a straight face is beyond me. Many of the behaviours such as suicidal tendencies, depression, self harm, promiscuious nature are all symptoms of child abuse in a woman for starters. People who go through things like that don't turn into a HBO special starring Robin Williams over coming all the odds to become prom queen. In reality they struggle through life and sometimes come out the other end and sometimes simply don't.

She was at hospital at one stage and recieving counselling etc ... and allegedly had more than one suicidal episode.

Now I dunno what happened to Amanda Todd. You don't either. Abuse or not, it doesn't matter (though I'd consider sexually active 12 - 13 year old doing web cam shows a BIG clue!). Am pretty sure the poor person didn't wake up in the morning, get dressed, look in the mirror and say, 'you know I haven't been bullied or stalked enough recently ... I really must put a change to that if I plan to drink bleach and end my life on the weekend!'

Can you fathom how many great contributors to society have gone through problems? Had sexual misnomers? Been depressed? Personality problems? Alan Turing, one of the people majorly responsible for the machine you're furiously smacking the key board of, killed himself. Isaac Newton wasn't exactly the picture of mental health or responsibility either. My point is you have no idea who you are writing off.

The thing with the parents is beyond me also. You can honestly not fathom that parents would want to defend their life blood's honor? They want fame out of this? What possible fame could this afford? Tragically they might find themselves stuck in the moment forever like many parents running volunteer or awareness groups furiously and unable to clear out their daughter's room. Maybe a 20 minute meeting with Oprah. Do you honestly think the family have sat down and said, 'we could get on Oprah!' Two people with a deceased child had that conversation? Is that likely?

Imagine the most important person in your life was found dead in an embarrassing situation. Now imagine you're in front of the media. Now tell me what you would say?

Regarding the parents not doing enough ... Pop quiz. Your daughter has just tried to commit suicide. You arrive at hospital and then you ...

A: Watch her 24/7 for the rest of your life
B: Watch her 20 hours and sleep for 4
C: Remove all possible methods of suicide, internet, and harm from her life
D: Try your best, do what you can, keep an eye out for signs but realise that unless you lock her up for the rest of her life in a private hospital it could all still go wrong

I really despise moral high ground. I really do, yours and mine but I have to take it. I've had depressed friends in my life. Smart, intelligent people with a lot to live for. When a parent, a lover, a friend knows that a person is depressed and they leave this world you ask yourself every single day ... why didn't I check, why didn't I call, what did I miss, why wasn't I just there.

Unfortunately sometimes the answer is they were hard to be around. You let the persons actions get in the way of your love for that person for a few moments, or simply tried to making it rational by saying it's their problem to deal with, or any number of excuses that seem really petty when they're lowering a coffin.

Even if I'm wrong ... the parents are evil money grubbers trying to profit off this situation ... Then I imagine that relationship was quite abusive between parent and child. Even if I'm utterly wrong, a lot of suicide situations aren't clear cut and turning into the internet psychology detective to judge someone as harshly as you are reminds me of a phrase ....

"There but for the grace of God go I."

I wouldn't wish you to go there, but if you ever do you might remember this week. I do honestly hope if it happens you learn from it and pull through.

For one, how the hell does this "stalker" continue to follow her around from town to town if she doesn't have continuous contact?

How as a parent do you sit on your hands for 5 weeks while there is a self pity video posted online by your daughter claiming that "Oh I have nobody. I need somebody." when her parents went above and beyond trying to help her? Moving towns, changing schools, therapy, etc...

I was never abused as a kid. My parents tried to give me everything that I could ask for. Yet I rebelled when I was a young teenager.

This girl, in my opinion, couldn't come to grips with the fact that she was a sexual deviant. She couldn't understand why she was so compelled to go onto stickam and perform masturbation shows and strip for older men. Why does there have to be an influence to that behavior? Maybe she learned this behavior from all the f**cked up mainstream pop culture garbage that all these kids seem to just absorb these days. Artists like Kesha, Katy Perry, Lady GaGa, Carly Rae Jepsen all utilize sex, drugs, alcohol, and other inappropriate material aimed at HER AGE GROUP!

Or shows like Jersey Shore, Teen Mom, 16 and Pregnant, The Hills, Laguna Beach, etc...all inappropriate for the market for which those shows are aimed at.

But feel bad for a coward. A weak individual that couldn't handle being criticized for her own inappropriate actions.

After noticing my laptop being moved around when waking up in the mornings, I suspected my 15 yr old daughter was getting on it after I went to bed.
I decided to install a stealth monitoring program, key logger, screenshots etc..
What I found out was pretty discouraging (to say the least) I wont go into it all but she is now banned from facebook and tumblr. I literally have the sites locked out in my router set up.
I know she can get on other places but at least she wont be on at 2 am

Some of the younger members on here might think its an invasion of privacy but dont judge until you become a parent youself.

You should feel insulted by some of the idiots on this website that always have an excuse for a kids bad behavior.

"Oh, she must have been abused"
"She must not have been loved"

Blah blah blah.

Kids nowadays are just as messed up as the adults in society just from what is surrounding them.

And what you did by blocking access to sites on your laptop was the exact same thing that Amanda Todd's parents should have done. For that you should be considered a great parent, not a prick you invades someones privacy.

Because when it is all said and done, YOU are responsible for your child at home.

So if she was on a webchat site...and she was exposing herself...she was exposing herself to a stranger that wasn't broadcasting his image? She was flashing a blank screen?

If that is the case than this girl was dumber then I originally thought.

There are so many sites out there for people to webcam "chat", both one way and two way its not funny.
Chatroulette, stickam, omegle, hell even skype. I have all but skype blocked because my son uses it on his second monitor when gaming.

it could be possible that she faked her death... and is kind of in a witness protection program ...so that this time she can start a new life somewhere else.

perhaps they decided to put media attention on this to stop future cyber bullying or perhaps they have a different agenda such as taking away free speech rights.

I thought the same thing until I was receiving threatening U2Us from a supposed neighbor and cousin of Amanda Todd.

Who knows. The entire thing is completely ridiculous. The media is trying to get an emotional response out of this story without releasing all the facts, as usual.

We have teens.. and a 6 yr old. My husband set up a timer for our internet connection.. its OFF and SHUT DOWN when we say so. He does this through the new router we bought late last yr. We have an office in the house with our desktops and the kids' laptops and tablets. They are "checked in". All sorts of devices these days can get on the internet.. handheld game thingies, phones, you name it.
You know what? Kids will and do circumvent. They are compelled to! LOL!
That doofus oldest kid last year was over at her friends house with an obviously oblivious parent.. webcam chatting on a thing like or may have been chat roulette. She came home and told on herself.. thank god and LOL!... but kids are exposed to this crap everywhere. You have to arm them with knowledge to make their own reasonable ( hopefully) decisions.. secure things when youre present.. and cross your fingers that other parents have a working brain cell. In the end, you just have to hope like hell they listen to instruction because you cant watch them 24/7.

YOU are doing more than a lot of parents I personally know... and you give a damn. Kudos!

In the office I use for the thing I do with some kids in need.. we have a small bank of computers. WHen "stuff" is done, I let them goof off on the computers. Im pacing back and forth " no, dont post that.. itll follow you for life" " you know, some things you cant un-see.. or un-type" " type in normal English, potential employers are possibly researching you" " GOOD GOD.. shut that down! " stuff like that. They listen without a big fuss... still enjoy yanking my chain though ( as in getting on a porn soundboard and cranking it up.... so I freak and come running over nothing.. LOL!) ... and I imagine if their parents cared at all they would listen reasonably well at home. But the parents DONT care.. hence me having them in the first place.
