I saw my first shadow person in 1975, I am quite certain that I was not the first person to ever see them... so I am guessing they have been around, but quite often in years past people did not share experiences for fear of being commited for psychiatric treatment.
My Grandfather saw many of them durring the war (WW2)

I've read about stories from ancient India about them, and other people here have read stories about then in ancient Mexico. There are speculations that Plato was making references to these Shadow People when he was discussing the analogy of the cave, and how some people would make money from faking the Shadow encounters.

Here's a little food for thought, in Modern day Egypt (Valley of the King to be exact) Shadow Forms of the ancient Gods have been seen (in some cases even photographed) Could these Gods of yesterday in reality be Shadow People? If this is true, then these Shadow People have been around for as long as there have been people.

My Story

In my experience, which was very head on, shadow people arent nice, or at least that's what I experienced.
I read that (and encourage others to read it as well), and would like to think you for providing a link to it in this thread.

in the east they are often refered to as Djinn. Thought to be made of smoke. Most are considered evil, but I have heard a few stories that suggest there are good Djinn too. Ty for the info.

The Djinn are only evil in Islamic stories, but in pre-Islamic stories they are both good and evil. I'm not cracking on Islam, most religions seem to view Shadow People as "Bad Joo-Joo". It may stem from the issue that people used to worship Shadows (think ancestor worship), which goes aginst modern day religous teachings.

Shadow People that I've encountered seem to range from startled (which is how I feel the first one I saw was) to helpful (like the one I saw on the road), and others seem to be just there (I was at Gettysburg looking over the battle field from a watch tower there, and a Shadow Person was also there just looking around for some reason)

The Mad Gasser...maybe it’s in the realm of possibility, but I think they were just seeing a dark-dressed person who was pulling an elaborate prank (or sociological experiment.) I like how some tried to write it off as "mass hysteria" lol Seems that anything outside the norm is the result of various people temporarily losing their minds and having the same exact hallucinations and/or overreactions to air pollution, etc. What an idiotic write off.

"Culture", huh? So you're looking at them as a kind of species. That's an interesting concept. If you can keep detailing their characteristics you can certainly come up with a profile (or profiles) that might at least make this phenomenon more credible (alongside more familiar phenomena.) The very fact that they are only ever shadow-like is an important distinction of course. Something about their metaphysical transformation omits light, outlining their body shape. Not perfectly however, as they can be semi-transparent. I’m not sure how a scientist would view this occurrence, but either blocks, or in some sense cuts through, solar radiation. That is, unless these things are being seen by the Inner Eye.

Yes I'm thinking they might have a culture. I've heard stories about monks who could turn invisible by putting on a special robe. I'm thinking that there may be more to it than that. I'm also thinking that "This Invisible Robe" and the abilities of these Shdaow People might be linked.

As many have pointed out they seem to wear different styles of clothes. What would happen if one of us found and wore their clothing?

I'm still trying to gather enough enounters to get a better grasp on what kind of culture they may have (if any), but I only have a small sampling of stories to go off of right now. From what I have gathered though, it does seem like they do have a social structure that can be studied.

Ok so I'm going through some books I have to see if I can find anything about these robes I was talking about.

Does anyone else have any Shadow People encounters that they would like to share?

I have NO IDEA how I missed this thread! Loads of excellent reading and I can't wait to read through it all.

I have had experience with shadow people and also have read some other stuff which may relate somewhat too.
It's an interesting subject simply because so many people experience various forms of it, I don't think you can discount any one's stories about these kinds of subjects.

That's like saying to someone, 'your life is a lie'.

I'll be back

Very well put Amanda. I have read comments saying that they can't discuss it because it is not real. To say something like this simply because you have not experienced them for yourself is so rude. I am intrigued by those who say they have had positive experiences, I have not experienced anything like that myself, but having had the negative experiences, I know they exist and cannot help but be curious about the others.

I hark your theory on Shadow People being watchers from a different dimension.

From an early age, say 4 or 5, I have vivid memories of being observed by four Shadow People. My enduring recollection is that there were two of adult stature whilst the other two were more child like. I'd like to say they were taller in build than the average adult, say 7 feet, but this would be impossible for me to confirm going from a child's vantage point.

I'd describe them as almost black with a purplish/reddish haze that outlined their bodies.

I definitely recall one of the 'adults' being female. They would just stand there and observe me and my younger sister playing. There was never any fear on my part, I'd carry on knowing they were there as though it was a normal occurrence. They would literally come from the shadows and leave the same way.

I do not remember when the visitations ceased, but I believe as children we do have a natural ability to tune into different realms of existence.

For most of my adult life I've wondered about my visitors and I'm toying with the idea of being regressed to see if I can shed any more light on these early experiences.

I'm 39 now, and I'm aware of a Shadow Person in my home. He's been spotted on a few occasions, albeit fleetingly. My dog will always act like I'm in imminent danger by dashing to my aid, staring at the doorway he's often spotted and growling like a bad 'un.

Although I admire her devotion in protecting me, there really is no need. I have no fear, they're just doing their own thing, observing us and going about their business.

Or maybe she's just clocked on to the fact that she's in line for another treat for her heroics. The crafty sod!

Sorry for the late response. Thank you for sharing you encounters.

I found it interesting that your dog would react to the Shadow People, and that you didn't feel anything from them. Very good information.

As for me, I'll be doing a follow up on my last post (I finally found a book I was looking for). Look for it tuesday.

When my son was 3 he saw what he described as a black man with red eyes and he was absolutely terrified of this man. He saw him in the basement of my sister in law's house where we were staying for a short time. Strange things happened in the house, I had my named whispered in my ear, had items move when no one could have moved them. When we moved to our current home 3 years ago he would tell me he saw the "black man with red eyes" outside the home, but never inside. I asked him why he thought that the man stayed outside, he told me it's because of the woman. I was quite confused at this point so I asked him what woman he was taking about. He then told me there was a white woman that lived in our basement, she hid under his bed and chased ghostface (the black man with red eyes) away. He also had a thing with dumping out my salt shakers on his window sills and black pepper in his dresser drawers, he said the woman did this but my wife and I caught him doing this on many occasions enough to where we started locking it up. My son is 6 now and hasn't talked about ghostface or the woman in a year or so, he has moments though were I think he's just afraid to say something.

I've always interpreted his ghostface to be a shadow person, everyone that lived in the house when he saw him has gone through some bad, bad stuff since then. Rape, adultery, crime, death, divorce, I feel fortunate to have gotten out of there with my family intact, albeit more damaged than when we entered.

Interesting. So there is a white shadow person? or is this some type of white light human form thing?

You don't see these entities. They interact with our plane in complete invisibility. Only animals see them and animals are frightened by them.

This doesn't seem to be the case at all.

I am curious as to why you believe this?

He's never really been able to describe to me what she looked like aside from "she's all white" and ghostface was blacker than night and had red eyes. He's 6 now but when I ask about either of them he won't answer and just changes the subject completely. He still won't sleep in his room alone and is terrified of the dark, a small flashlight fixes that as does his sharing a room with siblings. I'll see if I can get him to talk about it in a round about way.

Ok so I did find the book that talks about this, but it's a pre-teen book of world myths and mysteries. After re-reading the book today I found to many flaws in the other stories to bother listing it as a good source of information.
Sorry I'll re-read any books that I want to list as an information source in the future.

Shadow entities and ghosts are not the same thing.
