Romney did what any desperate man would do in a desperate situation.

In the wrong circumstance for the wrong reasons. Yes he played it very well, and maybe Obama was just playing the role of stupid today. We will see what else this puppet show has to offer...

he could have.

I think we saw Obama as he is, nothing more or less. He has never been a great debater. He has always stumbled on words, but he rode his "hope and change" idea over and over, keeping it simple. Obama has never been a "numbers" guy and has charmed America with his "stories" to get his message across. I don't think life stories will work for him this time and he is out of place doing it any other way.

I think Romney did slightly better. They both ran around questions and jumped from topic to topic avoiding actual answers.

I would like to have seen Mr. Johnson up there with them as well.

And I'd like to hear audience questions that aren't planted. That would be fun.

What is the one thing everyone is saying? What was wrong with Obama, right? Everyone knows this isn't the normal Obama.

Now, do you think Obama has just suddenly become uncharasmatic, unpassionate, and boring? Or do you think it is calculated strategy?

Like I said, people can say Romney "won" tonight. He will probably even get a bump in the polls. But as the fact checkers come out, and as Romney tries to backtrack some of the things he was forced to say tonight, I think the strategy will become clear.

People like to compare these things to a boxing match. So we have three debates, so three rounds. Now, if you know that a fight is going to last three rounds, do you waste all your best shots in the very first round?

Romney had to come out like he did, he is way down in the polls and needed to get noticed. And I think Obama was fine with that because I believe he knows that after tonight, people will start to really dig into Romney's comments and start to realize that Romney has contradicted himself and has backtracked on a lot of his positions.

Better hope so...

That was an awful performance, it doesn't get much worse IMO

Lets just blame the people who voted for those idiots. People evolved and got over sensitive, and seemed to lose sight of common sense.

Who was Obama talking to when he was talking about economic Patriotism?

Anyway, in general nobody is talking about controlling the Fed, unless Romney talking about spending was code for stop printing money....

Obama wants to hire more teachers....lol yah that should just about fix the economy and our lousy education at the same time(end sarcsm).

Obama doesn't really stand economics, and Romeny seemed to be trying to explain it to him.

Obama isn't a numbers man. He doesn't understand where jobs really come from.

Obama was exposed tonight.

And this race will not be the same.

I won't let you get off that easily. You forgot the Democrat congress in place from 2006. Like I said he had help.

What's up with Obama tonight?

He's struggling to remember his facts and points, and seems nervous and reserved. He's tripping over his words and isn't speaking with a whole lot of conviction.

Romney, while a bit of a bully at times by interrupting, is on his game. He seems to know his talking points inside and out---and is expressing himself very well. His energy is high.

Just a few thoughts twenty minutes in...

What say you?

He should of come out swinging and he didn't, he should of jumped on the 47%, even democratic TV news stations are saying it. I seriously doubt he will be pushed against the ropes the next debate. If he is I would really be surprised and sad. Because I do feel is that Obama represents the middle and poor more than Romney could ever hope to get near.

honestly... i blame the Powers That Be - because that is who is pulling all of our strings, and letting meglomaniacs such as these twats into our mass consciousness, all while we ravage this earth and execute & defile the true peacemakers & freedom fighters.

forgive the mini-rant, as i've tried to keep some poise on this thread, but - well, it is ATS, and that's my conspiracy!

I personally think Obama is Carter II. Progressives would have been better off with McCain I think. Let the Republicans dig their grave and find a strong, real progressive candidate.

(And I have given several members their opening to commence the Red baiting they so love, they should thank me).

Tonight everyone got to see first hand...the Emperor has no clothes.

He didn't have the Obama loving MSM talking for him. Nor his ever so important teleprompter to keep him on track.

He belongs in Hollywood with all the other actors.....that's all he is, a two bit actor.

I wish that would be a valid argument on why people are ignorant, but that is nothing more than an excuse. People could just look away from all the hype. They are sold promises and dreams, which is why most minds are poisoned til this day.
