I would have to agree with what POTUS did here. It would be better for national security if we threw out all of the State-Run Chinese companies that invest in the U.S., and maybe get investment from Japan, India, Europe, Canada, South America, the ME, etc. Hell, even the private companies from China act as organs of the state from time to time. Get rid of them too.

Personally I am against all things made in China, or things in America owned by any other country for that matter.....I walk through my house and recognize everything is made in China and it makes me very angry so now I try to buy only Made in America.......

We have become the consumers of the world with nothing to offer except weapons, and even those parts are made in China. Where is the real problem? We need to bring back American manufacturing with cleaner energy. It will be a long transition, but it might be worth it......

Didn't I just read a post about China trying to hack our grid system? It all sounds curious to me why China would want to own Americas power sources anyway.....

I don't know...... The president, no matter who it is, is damned either way. America is near its downfall, like the downfall of Rome.....

You know what, I agree with you. I would add that we also need to focus on high-tech manufacturing jobs and understand that the kind of low-tech manufacturing we have exported to China is not going to come back to the U.S. anyway, because its just not economically feasible. We SHOULD sign a raft of free trade agreements with as many countries as possible, whilst simultaneously dramatically increasing tariffs/duties/quotas/anti-dumping laws on Chinese products. This would make Chinese labor too costly in comparison to labor in other third-word countries. All of those jobs would move from China to a number of countries, many of whom are pro-western. The beauty of this is that those jobs would move to a MULTITUDE of countries, not just one, so we wouldn't be tied to just one manufacturer. At the same time, we invest not in propping up green energy companies with loans, but in the actual R&D needed to advance and create new energy and manufacturing technologies and processes. The govt. could use R&D tax credits, direct R&D loans, or some sort of prize system, a la the Ansari X prize, to do this. Also, any company that receives R&D assistance would have to share their new technology with the govt, private institutions, and other companies after a short time, maybe a year. It would be illegal and punishable by stiff fines and very long prison sentences for any U.S. citizen to share these secrets with foreign individuals. One final thought, we should also invest in education and stop letting U.S. defense contractors hire foreign citizens, or at least those foreigners they do hire should be monitored way more to make sure they aren't trying to screw us over.

Kept them happy with 2 other sales but rejected 1. Part of election time politics I suppose. Nevertheless, a good article on China and its super-power status.

This one is a no brainer. Especially in an election year. Sad thing is.......They own a very large chunk of a lot of different companies and I am almost positive they are active in other areas of the energy sector.

Why?

Why did Obama stop the purchase?

Afraid I'm going to have to echo Jude here. We have a POTUS dictating what can and cannot be purchased?

Am I giddy about a foreign power making purchases in the US?
No.

But there is no law against it. Unless I'm wrong about that.

You're not wrong at all.

Obama has no right to do this. And if he does, there's an agenda.

Peace

I agree with your assumption, actually.

Agenda, of the Political election kind.........

I see foreign investment in the US as unnecessary and ultimately damaging. I equate it with the same mentality of companies that cut jobs in the US and send them overseas but then expect people with no jobs here to buy their products. Letting foreign entities pull cash out of our economy in the form of profit is contrary to good economics.

Foreign trade is great but selling off our country piecemeal is folly.

Didn't the US sell the Empire State Building or Rockefeller Center to Japan and wanted out
a few years later. This wind farm is a bust and Obama thinks its great technology.
The Illuminati sold us a bunch of hardware with pie in the sky promises that could never happen
as beneficial profits. Even Tesla recommended wind power but we know he knew better.
Obama just let the wind farm get unloaded to China and stay out of the Illuminati's way.
Come on, the Illuminati did rockets to the moon and space and we paid for it.
The Tesla solution to world wide power and control of information could be here already if
we didn't go to the moon. And Tesla proves what he can do.

Well considering some of the more recent threads about possible Chinese espionage I'll now agree with the Obummer Administration on this one.

I think he had the right to do it on a national security basis. The Navy does testing for drones and growlers up there. There's a lot of land to put a wind farm, it doesn't have to be near a facility that tests our latest tech. They've already tried to get technical data on the growler before if I remember right.
