Mate, I cannot emphasize enough how thankful I am for that information. As a captain in the Merchant navy, it actually never dawned on me that this could be a use - BAM - right there - our compass azimuth rings are loaded with various prisms for coastal and celestial navigation.

Thanks also for the links - great stuff.

Thank you for taking the time to post these. You usually have me reading late into the night and looking up other topics.
Mind you, I'm not too thrilled when I wake up tired for work from reading all night.
Keep up the good work! You've opened my mind to many very interesting mysteries.

Just goes to show how awesome Vikings were. I'd like to think they were responsible for the lenses, after all they were accomplished seafarers, and the first to discover America.

THanks for posting another installment, Sublime! They are really quite fascinating, and I'm reading about the time slips in Australia at the moment.

Perhaps for part 5 can we hear about some strange creatures or other mysteries?

Information brought to light by Duncan-Enzmanntranslations of inscriptions from 12,500 BC tell us that sites like Scara Brae and Newgrange had reflective lenses of high quality. Masons thousands of years ago knew how to polish stone. Images of the goddess Cybele, who is said to be holding a disc representing the sun, is actually holding a refractive lens (Symbology: Decoding Classic Images, 2011)

So the fact that the Vikings made, stole, or had lenses of high quality is not unlikely, just that history of any accomplishments by Northern Europe during that period of time seem to have vanished. Unless you can read the symbols. - Michelle Snyder

I love mysteries, let's solve some!

There is actually one strange creature that was found some time ago & the main stream scientific community said it is bovine - but that didn't wash with other independent analysis and didn't answer about half the other anomolies either - I'll track it down and have a closer look but I recall reading it and thinking "Hmmmmm - thats very interesting - does not look anything like a calf to me - more like a snake with a dogs head!!"

OK - just looked at the Wiki page and now I'm on the prowl - I do recall you asking last time but had these ones ready at the side. I'll dig deep on the masks and throw it in the next installment.

Very interesting!!!

I've been waiting for someone to do a thread about the Shag Harbor incident. Its definitely one of the most compelling and interesting UFO cases out there.

I wonder what the woman in blue was doing? Does anyone else wonder if the white substance on her car was ash or snow? I personally think it was the former, that might explain the cloth catching on fire.

Just another unsolved mystery ?
CDC as in center for disease creation and control?
Would/could/should an unbiased inspection/audit be in order?
ticToc who's got yer clock?
Reminds me of an Edvard Munch painting or two.

What if a politician or more.....or another of 'influence' had the affliction?

Here we go Antonio - one of the most comprehensive threads ever posted in the UFO forum.

That Taos hum reminds me of something I have experienced in the last few years. It seems that some people, for who knows what reason, feel compelled to leave their old car or truck running overnight. This was the case at my townhouse in Texas for sure (it was about 50 feet from my unit), and it happens at my new home here in Washington, and I've heard it at my sister's house as well. It is super annoying to me because I can easily hear it even from a distance and it annoys me and makes it harder for me to fall asleep.

It seems to mostly happen during the winter and the only thing I can think is that these people are afraid their car won't start in the cold, but the cost of running an old engine all night every night for weeks seems exorbitantly expensive to me.
