Well I am in Essex , England.

you can pop round, or you can contact UGLE.

United Grand Lodge of England or your Provincial Lodge . Every County or most have a Provincial Grand Lodge. Then there are local Lodges.

So, if you get stuck I will be glad to help.

Please do not rush at it, take your time find out as much as you can before deciding.

It is a wonderful experience , but it does not suit everyone.

try some searches , but if you get stuck, shout.

Bill

Are you being serious?????. So let me get this straight......if I want to join a Masonic Lodge all I have to do is go along and present my case why I would make a good 'Brother'????

If this is the case then things have certainly changed LOL

You have to ask, then petition (fill out an application), then they do a little background check (to make sure you aren't a felon or something), then they vote on whether they will accept you. All in all though, you have to make the decision to join of your own free will. That's the very basic version, but that's more or less the deal...

If "things have changed" then how so?

Thats about it , like anything it starts with asking "2B1 ask 1".

Like the other poster said you have to be accepted, I have no problem with talking about joining Masonry with anyone. There is this old myth, that its an exclusive club. Its only exclusive to those who wish to join.

No one person speaks for Masonry, all we can do is give you a personal opinion. I do know people who have contacted Grand Lodge and then been directed to the appropriate person in a Lodge local to that persons address. Most join through someopne they know. but there is nothing stopping anyone asking to join. It may well take some time to get in. My Lodge takes about 6 to 9 months.

To be proposed you have to fill out a form, which needs two signatures from Masons on it. That is read out in the Lodge, so that if anyone objects to that person joining they have plenty of time to voice their opinion, then the guy is voted for in open Lodge. Then at a convenient date he is initiated.

Nothing spooky about it at all.

Ah, yes, I neglected to mention the need to have 2 Masons in good standing vouch for you.

Hi Zanzabar

Are you aware that Freemasonry has its roots in mysticism and many cult practices of various religions?

The rituals that you must take part in and the oaths that you must make in front of witnesses are similar when joining witchcraft and druid?????

I very much doubt that they would tell you this, untill you find yourself in the thick of it.

Just to help you make an informed decision and not a nieve one. This is a quote from "They took the Oaths are you paying the price?" by Sidney Margaret Mytton pge 3

"That which we must say to the crowd is, we worship a God, but it is the God which one adores without superstition. To you sovereighn Grand inspectors General, we say this and you may repeat it to the brethren of the 32nd, 31st and 30th Degrees, the masonic RELIGION should be by all of us initiates maintained in the purity of the Luciferian doctrine. If Lucifer were not God, would Adonay (God of the Christians) bother to spread false and harmful statements about him? YES LUCIFER IS GOD. "

Whooops:
www.abovetopsecret.com...

It was a hoax , you really have to stop reading Freemasoney Watch. The information there is by no means accurate. I am sure masonic Light will turn up here and put you right.

Beware fasle prophets ?

Zanzibar , just to make sure you make an informed decision , check what is quoted to you , I don't care if its me any other mason or anybody.

Sorry Bill I didn't mean to sound so shocked when you suggested that one could 'just join' the Free Masons.

I think that my reaction comes from when I was invited to join a Lodge back in the early 1990's. The approach was made to me in a real cloak & dagger style. It was also suggested to me that I had been chosen due to my occupation.......at the time I was a serving Police Officer.

For what ever reason I decided not to take up the offer then. It didn't sit well with me that I would be a member of a 'secret' society that appeared to be recruiting me because on my chosen profession. It was also suggested to me that this was the one and only time I could join and that if I didn't there would never be another chance.

So then Bill.........When I'm back in the UK all I have to do is go along to my local Lodge (Bedfordshire) and ask for an application?????

Hahaha!!!! And I suppose that you are aware that all of the major religions themselves have their roots in mysticism and cult practices?
Some of the rituals that Christians take part in are direct descendants of pagan beliefs - baptism is just one example. Jewish ritual has a basis in old Canaanite paganism as does Islam by it's Judaic roots.

Freemasonry is not a religion and there is no proof of either mysticism or paganism within it's practices. But even if you disagree, there is evidence of religion being founded in the above.

So what's your point? Freemasonry is evil because it (supposedly) contains paganism? Guess what? If that were the case, religion is evil too.

Give me a call , we have a couple of Cops a Fireman and a Paramedic in my Lodge, we have a good variety. But it is common for Lodges to herd occupations together. There are Lodges that are mostly Cops, or Solicitors or Footballers. I think its just tradition thats all.

all i can say about masonic lodges is that, whether they are satanic or not they have a lot of power, i live in a quite bad area, and the local masonic lodge is the only building that isnt covered in graffiti

what is involved in freemasonry, are there group activities, days out?, or is it basically a private members drinking club?

Is it a really stated criteria that you can't join the Masons if you are felon?
I'm under the impression that the term "good fellow" is flexible.

One guy I know here in Phuket who has just been recruited and has now taken his initiation is currently on extended parole (his family bribed the cops so he wouldn't have to go to prison, common practice here) for trying to shoot 2 policemen while high on heroine back in his home town.
Seriously - this is no joke.

I also know a similar case of a known football hooligan and coc aine dealer back in London who was also allowed to join.
Not to mention "Worshipful Master" Kenneth Noy etc...

I am actually interested on some more information as well about the freemasons. having said that I don't have any notion of joining my "local branch" but I would like to know what it is like. As people ahve impressions that the Masons are some secret society, but I really dont know. I am uninformed and just would like some idea of what it is all about?
