This is ridiculous.

As if any of you think you know what your forefathers would have wanted or done, I'll bet most of you don't even know what your own grandparents thought or would have done!

You really think statements back then would have been unanimous? There would have been political haggling then too. There would have been disagreements. There would have been internal power struggles.

I don't intend this to sound like an insult, but I have a feeling it will be taken that way anyway - Americans seem to live in a fantasy world where they idealize their forefathers beyond all reason, they're almost God-like in their perfection. The pedestal upon which you place these people is extremely precarious.

Like the royal family?

Yes, just like the Royal Family.

What has the Royal Family got to do with this anyway? This is a thread discussing what your forefathers would do, with a load of people pretending that they have a clue.

I haven't mentioned our Royals at all. I don't pretend to know what their ancestors thought or wanted for the future. I'm afraid your attempt to make a dig is a little bit of a fail.

It's your government. It's your representatives. Stop seperating yourself from it all and focusing on the war. The founders worked incredibly hard to avoid war, they petitioned, they begged, they filed lawsuits. They were not represented in any way. You are. You are distinctly different than they were in relation to your respective government.

If you don't like how things are being run perhaps you should run for congress, maybe you should insist the number of congressmen increase so we don't have one person representing 700,000+.

Or just start shooting and see how far that gets you.

you are correct and the sad part is,waving them in the faces of people that dont give a dam like the politicians, wont do a dam thing.people rising and taking action in the now is what makes a diference.not reminising on a past.the examples are laid down its our time to do something.any action is better then no action.
unfortunatelly majority still thinks everything is dandy and no need for action.usa is at war! look at the presidents flag pole and learn flag rules then people must see who is waging war at usa. thats a very hard task for alot of people. thanks to our media, bunch of whores! they sold out to the first client.jfk made a speech in vane,if any is turning in his grave hes one of them.

Actually they where rich, and some of them were fat.

Exactly my point.
In today's world, they'd be able to keep all their money, and not give it over in taxes.
Thus, they would have no complaints.

Were you talkikng about before or after the Revolution? In today's world they would be able to keep all their money? Do you even know how much more we are taxed even than they were? And they fought a Revolution over their taxes.

The problem there is the culture of corruption in Washington, which is ironically the name of a book by Michelle Malkin.

I don't happen to agree with most OWS protesters in that they are running about demanding direct democracy and getting their student loans bailed out. That is a populist movement based on collectivism. The Tea Party went the other direction and have been vilified by the media and many politicians and almost all leftists. The Tea Party is closer to the ideals of the original Founders.

Exactly sir. All they wanted to revolt about was taxes. We're so used to taxes that we don't even care. Hence the title. By the way, you don't even have to pay income taxes. No one in America HAS to.

We idolize our forefathers because they had something that NO ONE today has. Balls.

They all laid their, yes rich, lives on the lines and went against their own government and started a war with it just because they didn't believe they were being treated fairly.

So yes, we idolize them. Because they were great men.

I think we should just have a democracy, like we USED to.

Why not have a Roman democracy? Where people could just walk in from the street and talk to the president and talk about rules and why they wanted to be changed.

This isn't the government by the people, for the people. Who ever knows more people and has the fattest wallet wins, hands down.

I love this post man. EXACTLY! They BARELY had taxes and they changed the course of history because of it.

Our gas prices are like 50% taxes (clearly an exaggeration) and nearly everything is taxed. We are so blind we don't even care. They'd NEVER let America be like how it is. We need more of them.

No one in America HAS to.

That is not exactly true. The IRS will come after us, and now Obamacare has made it so everyone has to either purchase health insurance or be fined by the IRS and the Supreme Court even declared it to be a tax.

www.politicsdaily.com...

This shows you how, or at least improves your understanding on how it's possible to not have to pay.

the house of rothschild sets the price of gold two times daily in london.

ask yourself, do you really want to go to the gold standard.

why do you think all these "buy your useless gold" companies started popping up like mushrooms around the globe.

imagine if you can set the global gold price.

wouldn't you set it low, buy as much as you can, then raise it 4-5x the price you bought it at.

its literally manufacturing your own wealth.

before gold was affordable, $300-$600 an ounce.

but who would pay $1600-$1800 an oz. now. its the perfect price to keep the average citizen from owning it.

America is dead in so many ways and no one has the ball to try to revive her. Currently my parents are on the verge of default for the mortgage after never missing a payment and paying over $200,000 on a home bought for $110,000. Their problem is the insurance dropped them after an inspection that wants many improvements in a short period of time that are simply unaffordable on their budget. They are not alone.

Mortgages and insurance companies are robbing the citizens with the US government's blessing. They are not the only thieves that have bought off our 'elected' officials at the expense of the citizen.

The American people need to wake up and see what is happening as soon as possible before its too late and she can't be revived.

America actually started as a Communist country. "The Commune of Plymouth". Google that.

We still, by definition have a republic. "Any body of people viewed as a commonwealth." I live in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

And to answer your question, yes. I do trust my life in the hands of my people.
I'll leave you with a rebuttal, do you trust your life in the hands of the politicians?

America runs a 50% voting rate or LESS on even the 4 year Presidential elections.

Don't worry. This year it may go OVER 100%, with all the illegals, criminals and dead people voting for Obama 7 or 8 times each. Now THAT is something that are forefathers would be shooting about now.
