Impossible. Free speech is free speech. People can say whatever they want and have whatever opinion they want unless they speak out saying something that isn't true about a living person and therefore harms that person.

Thanks, i was going to say something like that, but am kind of holding back , i know without a doubt if i opened my mouth i would offend many.

I think they just need to grow up and learn to accept a little criticism.. well ok, thats a very very polite way of putting it.. not my real feelings but kind of the sentiment.

Don't know about the USA or any other 'Western' nation but the Muslim Brotherhood can demand, request and even ask very nicely and politely whatever they want but it hasn't got a hope in hell of happening here in the UK.

There are laws that cover 'hate crimes' and they suffice.

Contrary to what some may have you believe the Muslim Brotherhood and other groups with similar viewpoints do not dictate UK Law and policy - and they never will. (Wish I could say the same about the EU but that's a completely different arguement and discussion.)

While I do not think this should happen, I do have to say I respect their position as they condemn attacks on the West. This gives me hope true dialog can be had.

Nice pic, but I will say this "demand" is a step in the right track. They said attacks on Western/US interests can not be tolerated. So it is unlike the typical rant where they demand and offer nothing. At least it's a step in the right direction.

No! People can say what they want in the United States. It has been that way since the country's founding, and it is one of the most important ammendments in the Constitution. The Muslim Brotherhood can criminalize anything they want in their little paradise called Egypt, and other areas in the Middle East. They do not have any right to dictate or make veiled threats to get another country to change their laws and policies. Not going to happen! Nobody twisted anybody's arm to watch that garbage on the internet. If they don't like what they see or hear? Condemn it in a peaceful manner, and ignore it!

No apologies, concessions, cajoling, or appeasement to any group, religious sect, or foreign power. None! That video was made by a private citizen, and their views are their own. Just because someones' feeling may get hurt by a display of poor taste? It does not give people the right to summarily destroy things and kill people. The Muslim Brotherhood, and all of their ilk should be getting on their hands and knees begging for forgiveness. Furthermore, they ought to pay back all of the money and aid sent to them by our current Administration. Oh yeah, no more steak dinners at the White House! Not much of a follower of this guy, but I tend to agree with his opinion on the matter.

I think Western leaders should respond with the following...

We will consider restrictions on freedom of expression and opinion in our countries when, and only when, all Muslim nations criminalize the stoning of women, allow all women to be educated, remove restrictions on clothing, remove internet censorship, provide equal rights to all gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and transsexual citizens, remove any and all restrictions placed on other religions...

I really could go on for days. The list of abuses these Muslim nations are guilty of is longer than I can write, and yet they make demands about the depiction of a prophet?

It will never happen, and the idea that they believe they can demand such is nonsense. No nation should ever contemplate restricting the freedoms of their own people to placate any religious extremist, and that goes for Muslim extremists making demands such as this, as well as Christian extremists demanding the removal of rights for gay and lesbian people in the west. They are all as bad as each other, and their ridiculous religious craziness is to blame in all examples.

Note that this still doesn't change my views on the people who made that film. The writer/director should be hunted down and prosecuted simply for duping innocent people into creating something so hateful and disgusting. The actors and crew were lied to, and that lie has put their careers and their lives in jeopardy.

I know of NO US laws that punish those who deny the holocaust. Perhaps the Brotherhood could point those out to me... or maybe they need to learn to separate the US from "the west", if they are going to make sweeping - and erroneous - statements like that.

Lets be honest here. That film was a dog. It's a poorly acted, poorly produced satirical parody of Islam. It was an embarrassment to all involved in it's production. I can't see why people would get so upset as to kill off other, entirely unrelated people over such a poorly made piece of crap. I would think the proper response would be laughter and ridicule, until all involved crawled into a hole in the ground and pulled the hole in after them.

Instead, they give the film boatloads of free publicity, and make people want to see it, in curiosity as to what would so enrage a population as to kill off their only friend in an enemy camp, as they have done with the ambassador. It really makes me wonder.

What appears to me to have happened is that the film was deliberately set up as a scapegoat, a cover for pre-planned protests and murders on the anniversary of 9/11. the film was not the cause, in other words, it was a convenient excuse and cover for premeditated murder.

Today's announced protests in Egypt have been cancelled by the Muslim Brotherhood. they are demonstrating their full control over the Egyptian people - whipping them into a murderous frenzy, then just as quickly stopping the orgy. It couldn't work any better if it were a choreographed ballet.

Sad if you ask me. I would think if one truly believed in their god and religion that the opinions of others would not sway them or upset them, because they would be secure enough that their faith would allow them to be confident.

And like you said, you have your beliefs, that should be a personal relationship between you and god, no church, pope, imam, infidel or anything should bother you in that relation.

Oh, that would mean the Muslim brotherhood would have to eradicate themselves.

Offensive speech is just that - speech. It leaves no permanent marks, and generally only infuriates when it hits too close to home. Offensive killing, on the other hand, is a bit more permanent.

I say that if they wish to address offensive speech against religions, they lead by example. They can start by disassembling the Dome of the Rock, which contains an inscription running around the wall inside of it that is probably the most offensive thing that can ever be said to Christians.

Show us you MEAN what you say about offensive speech. Eradicate yours first. Give us an example to live by.

I agree. As long as the laws that stop assaults on Islam also stops assualts by Islams against other Islamic factions and against Islamic women. That mean no more stoning women in the streets. I think we could all support that.

Here's where the hypocrisy comes in. They would gladly outlaw us being able to speak out against islam, but islam is free to speak out against everyone else. That's how sharia law works, being that it is ok for them to do something but the wrath of God be poured out on anyone else who does it back to them.
