So I would like to throw this out there, in a few weeks I will be open fully for a debate, and I would like this topic or a variation of it if possible.

Human ability. Is Magic evil, or can we actually conjure spirits, and have lost an ability that we may have had thousands of years ago, and has organized religion demonized if for the purpose of separating us from a true connection with a creator/creators, which in turn has caused the confusion we have today with the E.T/Aliens, was this something that we used to do?

Also with this topic I would like to ask if we could have a bit more writing time as I think the 3/3 posts would deny this subject its true debate.

Or something like that

If you're posting the opening post, draw up a draft ( 5,000 character max - this gets tricky because OP's can be up to 7,500 characters... but the Debate rules limit to 5,000. Most word processing programs have a character count feature. ) - then post it to the forum with "DEBATE:" Before the specific title.

Alright! I believe I have it figured out. The title will be: Debate: Phoenix267 vs. adjensen: Who would have been a better leader for the Soviet Union?

That is the title I want to use and I guess I'll do the opening post.

You can't have more than three posts, (we used to do five!) but you CAN make it into a debate series. We've done a couple of those here, which is essential a series of three debates between the same members, based upon different aspects of the same theme.

The way you COULD work it (if you don't go the Research Forum route), is to announce a debate series on the topic of Human Ability. There'd be part 1, part 2, and part 3.

Part 1 could be:

Can we actually conjure spirits, and have lost an ability that we may have had thousands of years ago....was this something that we used to do?

Part 2 could be:

Is Magic evil......and has organized religion demonized it for the purpose of separating us from a true connection with a creator/creators?

And wrapping it all up, with Part 3:

What has caused the confusion we have today with the E.T/Aliens?

Of course, since it's your idea, you could reorganize it however you'd like. But yeah, a debate series on that topic would be pretty interesting.

I'd much rather see it done as a Research Project, than a debate, because there is so much information involved. As a Pagan, I keep an open mind on esoteric knowledge, and also as my creed I seek to learn lost knowledge, and preserve it for future generations.

Count me in.

It'll be an excellent exercise in fleshing out the real information. Put up a post HERE, and define the Project, and I'll add my thoughts there.

Quality judging takes time, especially in the summer when many people don't visit the site frequently... we must be patient

I just wanted to stop in an apologize for my disappearance from the site this past week.

Life happened, and I was called away from my diversions. I just wanted to let Druid42 know I didn't abandon our debate - I just had to put it on hold. Now that I've completed my duties, I'm free to return and post away. I'll have my opening statement prepared sometime this week. Once again, I apologize for my absence. Stuff happened that needed my undivided attention.
