(Reuters) - The U.S. military said on Monday it was disciplining U.S. troops over two incidents that provoked outrage in Afghanistan early this year, one involving a video depicting Marines urinating on corpses and another over burned copies of the Koran. But the administrative punishments fell short of criminal prosecution and it was unclear whether they would satisfy Afghan demands for justice. Afghan President Hamid Karzai branded the Marine's actions in the video as "inhuman," and he initially called for a public trial for the soldiers over the Koran incident.

Glad to hear it. Thanks for the update. Not saying what they did was correct, but young men under the pressures of war venting should not be criminally prosecuted. IMHO.

These men should be stripped of all ranks
and prosecuted

Oh would you say the same about a solider who comes to your lands and executes your son/daughter and then proceeds to urinate on your family photos?
These men should be stripped of all ranks and prosecuted, otherwise they set the standard for others.

Or is it only okay when you're killing and violating someone else's corpse in a different part of the world?
• The Taliban killed eight boys who laughed at soldiers
• Burned an entire family alive
• Killed 100 Afghans and hung their bodies from lamp posts to warn would-be defectors
• When the Taliban captured Afghanistan's capital city of Kabul, castrated the country's president and killed and tortured his brother
• The 1998 massacre of 600 Uzbek villagers.
• The 1998 capture of Mazar-e Sharif, which included, according to Human Rights watch, the execution of scores of men and boys and the rape of women and girls.
• The Defense Department also said shop owners, cart pullers and women and children shoppers were killed.-- The 2001 massacre in Yakaolang, which included, according to Human Right Watch, the executing of at least 170 men

Again, the US gets out of the crimes...
History has shown that when US soldiers have acted inappropriately, they almost never get rightfully disciplined for their crimes.
Burning Korans and pissing on corpses is not the way a professional force should act, even under the stresses of war. Using stress as an excuse is bull# too. Other countries are in Afghanistan, and are put under the same stressful circumstances, yet they aren't tools which disrespect their enemies and their beliefs...

Right, because US soldiers are the only ones who've ever done such a thing! I love how you and many others here give everyone else a free pass as long as they aren't Amercian. We're supposed to be held to a higher standard according to the rest of the world.
You lost all credibility when you mentioned the Koran. Who cares? It's a god damn book, just like the bible. It means nothing. That's just your attempt (like the muslims) to inflame things by bringing it up. It's no more important then any other book on the planet.

These soldiers executed no ones son/daughter. Nor did they urinate on family photos.

I love left wing armchair warriors such as yourself. Here are some attrocities committed by the people you are so keen to defend.
So your argument is that since the Taliban are so vile, the US can be vile too? Kinda throws the idea of them having the moral high ground out the window.
