I believe in the possibility (though highly improbable), of a creator. Not a god, but a creator none the less. If we ever become capable of creating life from scratch, then who's to say that some being in another dimension couldn't have created this universe from scratch?

if it is highly improbable that a creator created this universe.....

what is probable,,, or highly probable... in terms of the way this universe was created/what this universe is?

He still would be your God by default . Something not on this earth did create / start life in abundance . A single cell developing all life on earth would be like striking a match in a wind storm . Before a cell could reach some point of mutation /evolving under the adverse conditions land or sea without food also most probably it would die .
Who ever or what ever put life on this or any other rock would be superior to all of mankind .
Elijah was removed from the earth by a ( fiery chariot) 2nd Kings 2 verse 11 .

Right now I'm stuck on our sex organs. I can see evolution growing the penis and vagina, but to mindlessly add the millions of nerve endings to make sex pleasurable, thereby guaranteeing the spread of life, well, I don't believe it. That had to be intelligently designed by someone or something. And, it had to have been a sudden event. Without the pleasure part of sex, why would any creature copulate?

I am sure there are much more important things to ponder .

Are you kidding? Apparently you have no idea of the ramifications of this? At the very least, combining all the pleasurable nerve endings in the sex organs to drive a species to multiply is a design, a definite, definite design. I'm an atheist, and by this thought alone I am compelled to consider a creator. That's how big this question is!

Depends on the definition of a god. Logical, rational, and imperfect is my creator. These attributes are not consistent with the common views on a god.

Kinda answered your own question right there, eh?

The real question would be "how did non-asexual reproduction and the pleasure of such arise at the same time?"

I've reached a point in my life where I've begun to question things, specifically, God and the nature of faith. I believe in a creator, though I'm not really sure who he (or she) is. I have a hard time looking at the world around me and attributing it's beauty to a mere cosmic accident. However, I don't feel like I have any personal experience with God, no grand epiphany that made me KNOW that he existed. I've just always felt it in my heart.

Which leads me to my question : Why do you believe in God? Do you believe in God in the traditional sense, or do you have a differing vision of him or her?

First let me preface my reply by stating that I do believe in God, I am not an athiest.

However !

The " Area of Proof " that God is not perfect, is when God tells us about how he created the angels. .

The fallen angel lucifer or satan is the main proof that God is not perfect. To create or make many angels in antiquity, "God only knows when" and for one of these angels that God made to rebel against God, that shows an " Imperfect Creation " of an angel.

An all knowing, and an all seeing God, who " Knows The Future " could Easily have seen or known that lucifer was " Not Perfect. " For a " Perfect God " to make or create an " Imperfect Creation " shows that God is not perfect.

And also these obvious questions:

Why would " God " like or want " Gold " ??? and Why would God tell Adam in the first book of the bible about Gold ??? and God even says that " the Gold is Good " Why is the gold good ?

Why would Adam and Eve even want or need gold ??? Gold is very Heavy like Lead. Adam can't eat the gold, or does God want Adam to make himself a nice new shiny Rolex watch??? Come on, what's this Fascination by " God " with " Gold " ??? Does an Infinite and an All Wise God like Shiny Gold watches and rings...??? What's with Gods interest in gold ???

Is Sitchin's interpretation of the ancient Sumerian clay tablets beginning to make any sense here....?

What is the real bottom line story here on this planet earth? Entertainment ? Gold ? Love ? Endless Wars ?

Wow, talk about Endless Fascinating Brutal Entertainment... So Which Is It ???

Is the Bottom line theme and story on all of "Gods Creation" Love ? Gold ? or Endless Wars of Misery and Slaughter of People ? For " Gods " Entertainment.. ?

Which is It ?

You are already considering that the single celled life form has created two life forms and somehow turned into male and female . What is the likelihood of that ? Asexual reproduction would have to occur first then without outside input the two offspring would have to be compatible, healthy and have a viable food source .
Whats the likelihood ? You can figure that there will be a high mortality rate among them in a hostile environment like earth was so long ago .
There has to be an intelligent design behind life . Call it what you want !
