you wouldnt be able to eat without the haber process or any form of industrialised agriculture. UK for example could only support 10 million people without these scientific discoveries. It has a population of 65 million just now.

The Bible is not some fantistic historical document, it's full of stories and parables to learn from, not some time line of the earth

What does all your religious pontification have to do with the Mars lander??

You know what science does? It makes great ideas EVIL! If ONLY we could use it for good. Instead, we find ways to DESTROY. Thanks science, again!!!!

I think you will find thats man, not science and usually in the name of religion!!

You people are INCREDIBLE. So, out of 65 million, who's growing their own fruits and veggies. If everyone did their JOBS, you could walk down the street, like you were walking down the produce aisle at your local supermarket.

Why does agriculture need to be industrialized? If i grew apples and my neighbor grew oranges, and their neighbor had melons.....why do i need industry? WE ARE THAT INDUSTRY. No need for a "haber process". No need for "industry" either. There MUST BE something to that: "Love your neighbor" thing.

REALLY? It's not a historical document?
Is that why your 'science' confirms many of the things spoken in it? Oh, but Popular Science is a well trusted source. hahahahah You people are a joke!

I also feel the same way, another poster here, commented about. In this day and age, there is NO REASON "Curiosity" should be sending back pics in B&W. Say what you want, in whatever scientific mumbo-jumbo you want to speak it in. We have the ability to see the date on a penny from space, but we can't send back pictures in color, from a planet we're actually on???
I don't know about you, but for me, i deal with things that MAKE SENSE!

I think your going alot of topic here, but I will respond. Through the whole of human history it's people like you who follow religion blindly allowing evil things to happen in the name of God, it's people who try to maniplate religious text to there means and beliefs that ruin the world for the rest of us!!
It's just a book get over it.

Uuuuuuuh, science is a 'religion' also. Careful how you speak, you're beginning to sound ignorant. These people are practicing THEIR BELIEF!

there's not enough space or arable land in the uk to support so many people. if there was we wouldn't need the expense of industrialised agriculture.

WOW, a colour pic

Just wait a short while and there will be lots of images to look over, even in colour and HD.

You have a unique perspective.
But to one of your pervious posts. The cost.
If it cost $5 per day to feed the hungry the money could have fed the worlds hungry for about 2 days. It wouldn't change their lives.

As to returning to the Moon. We could not afford to keep going back. It's a rock with no tangible returns for the amount of money we were spending. That's why the Ares system was cancelled.

If you are so concerned about the good of humanity you might want to spend less time on here and go volunteer at some community effort. Then come back and tell us if you made a lasting difference in someones life.

I don't follow either blindly, eyes open is the way forward for both my friend, and the comment about me sounding ignorant is bit of the pot calling the kettle black.

Newsflash for you. If you dont think science has helped us. If you want to go back to the caveman times. Science isn't just technology. Science is physics, biology etc. too.
So next time you huddle down to rub those two sticks together to make fire, that's science.

I love keyboard warriors that think they know something. I also love the way people flash MONEY like it's the all mighty savior. If people would get off their lazy asses and work the fields, we wouldn't need to worry about MONEY feeding us. Money is another TOOL used by the elite, to dumb us down. Apparently, IT'S WORKING.

On the personal attack, regarding being concerned about humanity.....let me enlighten you, SMARTY PANTS: I built a community center.....from the ground up, costing me 8 years of my PERSONAL life, trying to help others. WTF are you DOING to help your NEIGHBORHOOD; besides showing off your fancy pictures from space.

Any other topic, you'd like me to shred you on. I'm bored, pissed, and armed with FACTS. Stop acting like you know something. YOU DON"T KNOW sh8t, about our world...or me.

*sigh*
Seasonal fruits and veggies grown during a Canadian long winter...
What a concept.

At least I don't have to live in an igloo

I'm grateful for whoever "created" glass, metals, home heating, etc

What was the topic again? Oh, yeah, Mars.
At least it gives mankind something big to do. We need challenge in our life to evolve. Now if I could only figure out how to grow food in the winter without use of a greenhouse and grow lights....

Okay, I'm no mod but could we PLEASE stop this off-topic discussion?
The idea behind the OP is a good one, to have a place with facts about the technical capabilities of Curiosity and the goals and results of the current mission to mars, so people (at least the ones willing to learn) can educate themselves and not make embarrassingly illiterate comments like the ones we are painfully reading now.

And next time your loved one is dying of cancer, ask science to help you. I wonder what cavemen did, when they got sick? Ran to the nearest scientist to ask for a cure??? hahahahahaha Mankind is embarrassing!

Yeah if someone gets cancer science is there the help. It's not full proof. It's a learning process. Something that it's fundamental to science. We take baby steps to learn things. Cancer cures is getting better. Meanwhile... cancers cured by chatting with the invisible guy in the sky: 0.
