Anyone who supports either Obama or Romney is mentally retarded.

And I'm sure you have the data to back up that claim...right???

I'd love to see it.

Are you saying it's disgusting because it's politically incorrect to say "retarded"? Or are you incensed that someone would quantify a supporter of Obama in such a way?

I honestly tend to think anyone who is a fervent supporter of either of these guys might have some waking up to do if they truly believe that either one will, by and in large, do anything differently than the other guy overall.

They both will bow to corporate power & influence imho. No?

This happened in Pittsburgh guys, so it really shouldn't be that surprising. Anyone from around there should know what I'm talkin about. The joke could be rearranged to go "Don't you see that spot" "well I can't park there, that there is a handicapped spot" "oh, well with your Pittsburgh license plate I assumed you were retarded" ... hoops and hollers.

No...The New Republicans appeal to folks lesser selves...Hate, intolerance and always fear.

Like the crowd shouting "let em die!" at the gop debates when asked about the uninsured.

Like the crowd throwing dollar bills and shouting at the paralized vet at the Rally to stop healthcare reform.

It is folks who have a weak voice of conscience and instead give voice to thier basest thoughts....hate, racism, intolerance...they see lack of empathy as a strength.

Alas..I miss genuine conservatives.

Wow, your post is epic. We see how tolerant YOU are in your response to Chik-Fil-A. The militant gays would kill every living Christian if they had their way.

I reserve my intolerance only for those people who are pridefully intolerant.

That bit about gay people?...you need help and I hope you get it.

The two men being spoken of are documented liars, at the very least. By supporting them it's almost like admitting that lying doesn't bother you.

Ok here's one lie from Obama: "Half of all cars purchased by the federal government will be plug-in hybrids or all-electric by 2012."

Source: General Services Administration, Federal Fleet Reports 2010 and 2011 Fuel Type
2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011
All-electric or plug-in hybrid (e.g. Chevy Volt) 0 7 6 7 1376 456
Conventional hybrid (e.g. Toyota Prius) 516 462 531 3963 4880 3837
Alternative fuel 18,411 26,714 27,919 27,951 26,855 24,884
Gasoline or diesel 44,051 37,898 36,273 36,524 30,683 25,822
Grand Total 62,978 65,081 64,729 68,445 63,794 54,999

"Obama's pledge focused on plug-in hybrids and electric cars, which accounted for less than 1 percent of all federal vehicle acquisitions in 2011. That's also true across all three years Obama has been in office. Either way, it's a far cry from half."

Ok....so you claim he lies about everything...and this is the best you can scrounge up???

Now...is this a "lie" or an un-met goal???

You do know the difference...right????

And are you saying that since he fell short on converting the governments fleet to hybrid cars...that this means he has failed on everything and one must be mentally challenged to support him???

I expected more.

'On March 25th 2007, the Chicago Tribune reports that an extensive search found no basis for an episode Obama recounts about a picture he ran across in Life magazine of a “black man who had tried to peel off his skin” in a failed effort to use chemicals to lighten it. Obama writes that “seeing that article was violent for me, an ambush attack.”The Tribune continued: “Yet no such Life issue exists, according to historians at the magazine. No such photos, no such article. When asked about the discrepancy, Obama said in a recent interview, “It might have been an Ebony or it might have been … who knows what it was?”At the request of the Tribune, archivists at Ebony searched their catalogue of past articles, none of which matched what Obama recalled.”'

There are so many lies I hardly knew where to start. We can spend just as many pages as you like dissecting the many lies told by either one of these men. I am not sure why you choose to defend them, what is your personal stake in this? If you think these politicians care about your well being please carefully examine their policy decisions. Most of the citizens in this country are like humans chained up in a basement while the vampiric "leaders" suck on any appealing vein. You enjoy working hard so other people can get rich and build personal empires while the Earth around you falls into ruin? If that's your pleasure just come out and say it, but don't get all righteous when you're defending less than morally admirable men.

Would you also please point out the part where I said Obama lies about everything? That's a rather inclusive statement, you can't accuse me of claiming Obama is lying when he tells Michelle it's a fine day out.

And you laugh at my source.

Your "source" is an anonymous chain email.

If you want to prove all those are the truth...then go find the facts and come back with them.

It's shameful that you didn't verify them in the first place...shows how serious you are about this.

Is it common that you believe everything you read on the internet...or is it only the things you want to be true, regardless if they are actually true or not???

I could say exactly the same thing about your replies. You seldom reply with any facts or statements but generally reply with ridicule and innuendo. You attack sources and if you do not attack the source, you attack the OP. If you don't attack the OP then you ridicule the opinion.

[I removed this paragraph out of decorum]

I know there are things wrong with this country but I still would like to see it succeed as it did before you were born.

People were poor then but you could still leave your car unlocked and didn't have to worry about someone coming into your house and robbing you. The local business knew you by your first name. A person's word was as good as cash. People worked. People who did not work had a reason. It was shameful to be on welfare and people went without rather than go on the dole. People took whatever job they could find just to have work. Work was a sign of responsibility and personal satisfaction no matter how a person disliked their job. Now, work is seen a slavery for those who believe it is more fun to cheat the system. The opinion seems to be if one can't have the job they want, they would rather open the mailbox every month for their beer money or steal it.

Being arrested was not something someone wanted to happen. Now, it is a badge of honor. Having an illigitimate child was a disgrace, now it is acceptable to have a brood of illigitimate children and be on welfare for generations.

Yes, we did create that business ourself. We worked hard and paid the wages we could afford. We did not expect the government or our employer to take care of us. We were brought up to take responsiblity for our own lives. Now, people (at least 43% of them) expect cradle to grave care by the government.

I have lived a long time and seen most everything. I see corruption in the government. I see businesses take advantage of people. I see the government spending more than it should. I see people taking advantage of the system. I also see corruption in the families. I see families that spend more than they should. This is a society of instant gratification. If they don't have what it takes in their pocket, they want to put their hands in someone else's pocket. That is morally wrong and reprensible. To promote that tenet is also morally wrong and reprehensible.

We have a president who believes he should take from those who earn it and give it to those who don't. He was elected by people who hoped for change back to the days I spoke of. Now, he is going to be re-elected by those who want their hands in another's pocket. All of the things that are wrong with this country are going to get worse. This is the danger of the tyranny of democracy and not the workings of a Constitutional Republic.

You have to look at Obama's direction. It is to financially bankrupt this country and have the entire population dependent on government. That is how Rome fell. This is how America will fall. This is his plan and it appears the plan of those who support him.

I don't know why people want to see this country destroyed but they are doing it and doing it with enthusiasm. I don't know why they think they regime will remember them when control is complete. This isn't about the people. This is about the destructon of America by those who hate it, from the inside.

I am tired. I have to work tomorrow.

Your most obedient servant Nite_Wing

I just wanted to congratulate you for hitting the nail on the head. By definition, socialism is where wealth is redistributed equally amongst all people, and everyone gets the same as the next person, no matter how hard they work for it. This isn't a republic, this isn't what our founding fathers wanted for us to be a free and prosperous people. Obama is leading us in this direction, and even if Romney is elected, someone will pull his strings to lead us down the same path because he does not have the will of the people on his side. As someone else pointed out in this thread before, I have not seen a single Romney bumper sticker, but still see Ron Paul stickers more and more, everywhere I go. Romney, at least locally where I live, has lackluster melancholy support at best. If Ron Paul doesn't make enough of a difference in Tampa or isn't nominated, then this country is doomed to perilous years ahead.

You know, since the topic is whether or not the comment by the fellow was, or wasn't, out of line, I have to share this:

be sure and watch the very short video

Personally, I think this is relevant to the discussions.

Why don't you ask the real questions??? Rely on the facts. The facts NOW. Get REAL!!!! Are you so weak??? Good God, look at the facts now and try to dispute them.

I don't understand your emotional ranting.

Care to take a breath and try to articulate your thoughts clearly???

100 million on welfare, need I say more? What exactly do you want to hear? The moans and groans of the poor, open your ears (and eyes) for Christ's sake. Like I always say, it doesn't take a rocket scientist.

ETA , do you even wonder or give a thought why you have try so hard to defend a loser? Just wondering.

1. I agree with him.
2. I would fight to the death for his right to say it just as much as I would for an Obama supporter to say some of the things they have about Romney supporters.

As would I. But I would refer people to the fact that Obama isn't defendiing our rights...he's taking them away. Look at his executive orders and all the bills passed since he has been president. Look at the facts! At what point do we take away HIS rights???

A long-time Pennsylvania GOP official reportedly earned a warm reception Tuesday for comparing a supporter of President Obama to someone who is "mentally retarded."

I think this is pretty disgusting if you ask me. I'm just curious what right leaning people on ATS think about comments like this.

Condemn it, discuss it but don't perpetuate it. It is the same when Don Lemon likened Mitt Romney to Segregationist George Wallace or the Super PAC alluding that because of Romney, someone died. It is the same when Side A does it to Side B and vice-versa.

It is ridiculous but as long as both sides of the sane debate stay quiet, it will continue. Given American's apathy towards politics in general, my guess is we will continue to have these rear their ugly heads.

I don't support president Obama, or the democrats. I also believe that, just as many hardcore Romney supporters have a screw loose, so do many of Obama supporters. That being said, the Republican County official's joke was clearly mean spirited and un called for. I guess this is what happens when we let a**holes have power in political parties.

Don't get me wrong my friend. I too agree that that this President is on a destructive agenda bent on bringing this country down. I think he is the perfect Manchurian Candidate that has been programmed since he was a child, according to a plan set forth by certain people going back to the early 60's.
