I like nothing more than a good book. 'War and Peace' is sitting on my coffee table at the moment waiting for me to get off ATS and read it. Erm, I confess...I read good ole' W&P a while back - for some bizarre reason my parents encouraged me and my siblings to do things like that when we were growing up...hmmm. I always thought it was "cool" personally to read a lot of the "big" literate books - I have to admit most James Joyce gives me headaches though...seriously though, War and Peace is a good, relatively easy read - it is one big Russian soap opera for the rich Russians of the day - ah the parties!

Seriously though, I got the gist of the story from a friend who read it and recommended it. It beats 'The Lord of The Rings' for length at least, although I'm not looking forward to ploughing through all those 'Ovs'! At least Bilbo and Frodo are easy names to pronounce!

Never read Joyce myself, and don't intend to. Even Shakespeare gives me the willies, and I have to admit I prefer the movies to the written word in his case. The language is easier to listen to than reading it.

Might be a sign that you're socially inept, have few friends, or just don't like stupid websites that are a waste of time.

if you are not on facebook then that is the first sign of you being a mass murderer psycopath. i choose not to have a facebook for the simple reason that i do not want my life story available to a crowd of aquaintences that have no bearing on my every day life.

there are about 955 million users on facebook, so i guess the other 6.1 billion people in the world are going to go on killing sprees eventually.

i guess i'll have to start being suspicious of my 85 year old great-grandmother who isn't a member of facebook.

It's no crime to not have a FB account, but wouldn't surprise me if TPTB start tagging as CRIMINALS, anyone that hangs out and posts on places like ATS!

Oh you are absolutely right.
I only have an account so i can keep an eye on the girls, Its really only the youngest one who posts everything, its rather annoying to constantly tell her its no ones business how Daddys farts sound, what she's watching or if she is feeding the cats chicken or tuna.

Other than that i only post the occasional article hoping to wake some up in the process. but there are only one or two people who actually click the "like" them. their all busy playing some farm game or similar, no one wants to learn anything or know what really going on, i feel its a lost cause

I dont believe any employer has any right to even look at people's facebook and it should be illegal/unconstitutional to ask for any passwords to any email. I would would anyone like that arrested and made an example of to the human race. Facebook should be where family and friends hang out and if you are on vacation with a bikini and a beer that is something fun to post for your friends. I personally don't consider it safe to even us due to this whole thing of stalking, but family and friends should have networking sites to share in a group way.

I also think people should be working for themselves not others to begin with.

How some people can literally throw away hours a day focusing on the most irrelevant things someone else is doing always fascinated me. I had a coworker that would check it all day, she would read some of the stuff if I asked, and some of it was beyond shocking that someone would waste eye movements to read it. Not that there can't be interesting stuff, but most of it seemed like mindless drivel.

I suppose the one thing this thread made very clear to me, At Least I now Know why i hate facebook and refuse to use it for almost any reason, Guess I'm crazy deviant psychopathy, so why would "normal" people even want to friend me, cuz if they do I'll find them and eat them like that guy in Florida... All non-sense aside I can admit i hate people and generally will avoid social groupings of Sheeple, I prefer to avoid others and could even and happily admit I'd be perfectly fine as a hermit in the woods.

its easier to get your face in the book/list/database, the best slave system is the one YOU set-up
the computers can tell who you are from your face/book then

if you do have FB use a pic that isnt clear for your face

i think its lame book for losers who dont have a life and havnt a clue about the world around them, thats why its strange to them if your not in FB

You make of fb what you will, if you don't now and never have had a fb account then you have no real clear way of knowing anything at all about it therefore your argument is invalid.

Facebook is just as effective as having a barcode stamped on your skin. It's a program that can track your Age, history, location, marital status, employment record, hobbies, activities and conversations. It's how we ended up with targeted advertising, tailored for each individuals interests.

Now I would classify that as 'suspicious'.
