"Dear Christians:

God here. I thought I would take the time to personally explain my absence in the Aurora shootings. While I was at it, I thought I would also explain my absence during every murder, massacre and crime that has ever taken place in World history, and in every war, in every famine, drought and flood.

You see, I do not exist. I never have. Did it really make sense to you that I would create an entire Universe with billions of billions of planets and wait about 13,700,000,000 years just so I could focus on a few Jews from Palestine about 2,000 years ago while ignoring the rest of the 200,000,000 people on the planet at the time? Did I make those few Jews or did those few Jews make me?

Further, do you really think I would sit back and do nothing while Nazis killed 6 million of my “chosen people,” but find it important enough to intervene and turn water into wine to stop some hosts being embarrassed at a wedding in Cana? Why did I seem to be so active in the Middle East for a brief period about 2,000 years ago, but totally absent everywhere else on the planet and for the rest of recorded history? Did I make the Jews or did the Jews make me?

What I find annoying is how the religious always 'thank god' for anything good happening, then something like the shootings occurs.. and instead of blaming god they just say "Oh I will keep you in my prayers"
Um, hello... you don't think ANY of the people killed or injured prayed for safety for them and their families? Didn't do much good.

With countless people starving to death , being tortured or living day by day in total poverty for their entire lives i guess that God might have had more important places to be than in a movie theater in one of the world most wealthy country's when that happened.

blech...

i am not Christian, but to use this tragedy to advocate for the atheist perspective is kind of crude, if you ask me.

if one finds solace in their faith in God, Buddha, Allah, the Divine Goddess, Brahma, the Great Spirit, etc. etc. etc. who are you to take that away from them... especially in times of deepest grievance?

the concepts of Faith, Belief & Spirituality are far more complex than the trite: "you believe in a fairy tale so get over it" argument that is made time & again.

to outright mock suffering, and those who cope with suffering via spiritual means, is downright rude.
save the Evangelical, Fundementalist Atheist rant for a more appropriate time & forum.

PS... i am not opposed to the Atheist perspective, by any means (though i prefer the open mindedness of an agnostic).

PPS... is your Avatar from Helloweens "Keepers of the 7 Keys pt 1"? that takes me waaaaay back.

Well.. God does not exist physically, It is a force you feel guides you. Be thankful for the fact it was not you
who's life was pointlessly taken that night, after unsuspecting victims sit and watch a film. no one expects that.

Its like when you open the cupboard to look for something... its not just going to jump out infront of you, dig deeper.

Why limit God to Chrisitains or any religious belief? Good grief, like they know what they are talking about. So you posted someone elses rant. Alot, of someone else rant evidently. None of it matters. Your lack of belief In God or Christians belief in God, matters not a twit. Try studying the word infinite, really. Which I suppose was the point of the rant you posted........why are you even bothering though?

"He" was there, Doing the shooting and getting killed at the same time. Religion is faulty, God isn't some big judge who says right from wrong. It's we who judge with our little minds... Anything goes really. It's just what you choose, Love or Fear. It's an easy pick for me.

I have heard too many times that when bad things have happened, folks have said "It was God's will" Well, I dont think that kind of god is very caring or loving when he lets so much evil run amock. When I worked hard and succeeded, and started seeing results of the fruit of my labor, some folks have said "Thank God"....I immediately told them, "No, god had nothing to do with the sweat that dripped off my brow, the muscles I strained, and the effort I put into stepping forward each and every day".....That thoroughly pissed them off. People should start thinking from within instead of some invisible idea womewhere on the outside. It is we, who perform miracles, or sometimes are at the wrong or right place at the wrong or right time. Just as god isnt forcing that person to step in front of an oncoming train, that person is not in their right mind to think god will stop that train for him. We are to take responsibility for our actions and choices, learn from lessons in life, and use our own judgements to pursue the best path to follow.

Where was God in Aurora? You're no doubt referring to the kindergarten, exoteric, orthodox concept of God that Joe Sixpack refers to. When you have a grown-up concept of God to ponder, let me know.

And you have every right to feel that way and point it out.
I felt it when you pointed it out so I in no way argue that point.

At the expense of sanity?

I understand that. Everything is energy after all, God could be a higher form of it.
What I disagree with is the personified version of God and his "son" Jesus.

Not my intention at all.

I shift uncontrollably between Athiest and Agnostic sometimes all the way to believing in a higher power like an all powerful god of spirtual energy or something. My athiest side always takes over though when logic kicks in.

Yes it is. It's a 2 for 1 in my eyes, great avatar, amazing album. Thank you for your concerns and points.

Is that the one that allows all forms of suffering to learn lessons?

I'm not sure, please elaborate.

Whoa. That guy knows his potassium.

As far as those religious Gods out there go, I don't know much about that.
My God doesn't wipe my ass for me, and I still look both ways before crossing the street.

I feel that God = All = All = Multiverse. --- but I won't kill you if you disagree.

And Bible = Basic Info Before Leaving Earth

God is supposed to be all-knowing and all-powerful, able to see everything and everyone in the same moment?
No?..

Didn't he create the event itself? (Assuming he or it were real)

Like I said, when you have a grown-up concept of God let me know. You might start by studying comparative religion, comparative mythology, and comparative mysticism for a few years.
