I've tried 6 different combinations so far in the binary code. From 3 different angles (original, 90 degrees and -90 degrees) and for each one I've tried square = 1 and no square = 1. All of them have been symbols, it has not decoded to any words.

I would say that the blank squares are of importance too, since it's a grid and the blank squares are drawn. So it's nothing to do with QR codes, I think the grid means something, probably the placement of the squares.

Well, dang! You were way ahead of me, too! :-) I appreciate you going through the trouble. I put in a few rows L-R at the top, got gobbleldy-gook nonsense, but wasn't sure if I had the direction right, and well, Life is calling, so I can't do more now... Looking forward to seeing your results...

Actually the barge inn in pewsey is the best known haunt of crop circle investigators, long long before any fakers appeared on the scene.
I find it very telling that the crop circle research environment and their haunts are now being designated as..."Haunts of the crop circle fakers".

I have no doubt the fakers use these places to stroke their egos and laugh a bit at the grokkels.
Truth is, they haven't made all the circles, there is a phenomena that needs researching, why else would the government be researching it themselves if there is only fakery involved?.
The government has gone to great lengths to make it look as though only fakery is involved.
Why do you think that is?.

Anybody else have any ideas revolving around what can be done with the number 18 and base 12?.
I get the feeling that this is somehow related, there are (12x12) 144 squares.
Binary works on sets of 8, divide 144 by 8 for binary functions, we get 18.
