"Then He said unto them, he that hath a purse, let him take it,...and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one." Luke 22:36

Or I guess you can ''turn the other cheek'' and get pistol whipped....or worse!

I agree (cost of exercising one's freedom) but I also believe the Alex Jones could be offering discourse in issues that allow people to call in and be put on a list as well as have their comments recorded (off topic of original post but relates to the caveat posted for the forum).

just a simple question...thats all. all these americans on here all talking guns and what they have, what should they buy. how many times have any of them had to use them in self defence????. im guessing NEVER. and i also think its a bit ironic that americans still say they are the land of the free. not so free if you ask me when you have to go out packing heat for a "just in case".

You've obviously never lived in a very diverse area where it is a more than common thing to need a gun for self defense. I have had multiple friends with guns held to their heads being robbed, for absolutely no reason at all except being in the wrong place wrong time, and I know more than one female who has literally pulled out a gun and aimed it point blank to keep from being assaulted in whatever way was intended. Point is, stuff happens, and people DO need a means of defending themselves. I have one friend from high school who actually had to pull the trigger to save her own life. I believe whole heartedly she would have been beaten even worse than she was and maybe even raped and killed if she didn't have a tiny LCP her uncle had bought her for that exact reason. My father keeps a glock in his dresser drawer and never touched it a day in his life until I was 17 years old and our house was broken into, I'll tell you that will never happen again, and yes he did pull the trigger. My actual apartment door was kicked in when I was 19 years old and my ex boyfriend was hit in the head with a crow bar, and one of the scariest things was not having self defense, if I had had a gun, my partner probably wouldn't have had his head busted in. I live in a place where one part of town you wouldn't ever need your gun, and 15 minutes down the road you don't want to get out of your car or even pull up to a stop light without one. If you don't have one where I live, you better have a taser, bat, or pepper spray and means of exit, the world is a scary place, and stuff does happen. Not everyone lives in fairy tale land where everyone is nice and there is no violence, it is every where. I believe if people where I live did not carry weapons, there would be A LOT more casualties than there already are. No doubt. I believe every single one of them has a right to carry as well. Try having a gun held to your head and being told to give someone all of your money, or to be raped, or beat senselessly, and NOT go get a form of your own defense. Walk in someone else's shoes before you decide if they should or shouldn't be able to carry. More people pull the trigger every day in defense of their lives than you know, that is a fact.

If you can afford to spend a good amount of money I'd suggest a vintage Colt 1911...get the real deal. A vintage gun will not depreciate in value and you will be less likely to lose your cool and shoot it at somebody. Vintage guns hold value...

But if you just want to get a modern gun, then duh...get a Glock.

Yeah I definitely like the Springfield stuff from what I've read and the looks of it. They are pretty! I've been trying really hard not to let how cool I think the gun looks to be a main factor but I keep finding myself saying 'ohhhh that one looks cool!' I was debating on getting something the size of the LCP too. I found one somewhere that came with a laser for like 400.00 so the price isn't bad. I had convinced myself I wanted something a bit bigger. But then I look at that and the LCPs and the XD 3" subcompacts. I don't have a purse to shoot through though. I guess I could get a man-purse.

That stainless pistol is very nice. I'm attracted to shiny things
Those Judge and Public Defenses look like they would be a lot of fun to take to the range. Is the XD Sub still accurate with the 3" barrel?

Those Heizers look cool I've never seen those. I was wanting a little more capacity though.

I usually carry IWB.

Since you mentioned night sights, I just wanted to share that I've used that phosphorescent paint made for doing gun sights to make ghetto night sights on my cheaper pistol and they actually turned out really well. For the cost and time it took I'd recommend it to anyone that has a gun they don't want to justify spending the money for real night sights on.

Not so much as I would be if I was disarmed

The boogeyman can be very real.

Before you buy anything, make sure you get a chance to hold it first. Every gun feels different for different people. What may feel comfortable to some, may be uncomfortable for you. For 9mm I would go with a Glock 19 or HK P30. My choice for .45 would be a USPc or HK45c.
GL!

Will do, it's amazing how different two weapons that look so similar and are for all practical purposes are very similar can feel in your hand.

I was reading the trigger pull on the 2022 is kinda crazy long. Yeah I noticed the price difference between the 2022 and the 250s and the 226. Are the 2022 and the 250 not quite up to par compared to a 226?

HAHA
You better get on buying that man purse! Or I suppose you could just buy a holster of some sort if you want to keep your masculinity!

The Springfields really are gorgeous and reliable! As are the Taurus Judges from my experiences. Some times it is hard to keep vanity out of the vote when some guns look so cool compared to others, but with Springfields it is a like a double bonus having a beauty and a bada$s in your possession. I suppose if we all bought due to what we thought was best looking everyone would be spending grands on Desert Eagles and what nots, (my absolute favorite looks wise) and that would keep us all in debt! Ha!
I also heard a lot of votes on a Sig, that is one of the only guns we had to send back to Sig Saur because of jamming problems, but I can also attribute that to the previous owner of the gun. Good news is they fix it and send it right back free of charge.
Whatever you do get, just get something that has affordable ammunition and that is reliable! You never know it might just save your life one day!

i hear your anger at the situation. and i dont blame you for that anger at all. i would not want too swap places with you.

we find it hard to understand because guns are not a part of our lives. if you asked me where a gun shop was i would have no idea. they just really dont exist here. im sure there are some....but i have never seen one. that doesnt mean we dont have trouble with shootings, or stabbings etc.

i dont know what the solution is. the whole bloody world is out of control. violence, corruption, greed. you know that control has been lost when people speak of buying guns just like they are talking about going to the local store to buy milk.

I understand completely! We are from 2 completely different places and sometimes I do wish I lived in a place where a gun was "foreign" to our every day life. I just honestly at such a young age have experienced so many situations where I guess I am just molded to feel this way..which is in some way sad! I am sorry for how I got my point out there, I was just making it a point that there are so many examples of people pulling the trigger to save their own lives, all the time. But like I said, I do wish I lived in a place that wasn't so. But we can't all have what we wish for right? Until then, I'll stay protected.

I was reading the trigger pull on the 2022 is kinda crazy long.

Here's my experience on the 2022 trigger pull, although I have only shot 1 other firearm before, a Taurus 709 Slim. (I also made a thread with my review of it)

The double action trigger pull is pretty long and a bit tough. Ive never shot a revolver, but I have heard others say it is very similar to a revolver trigger pull. In SA, the 2022 trigger pull is barely anything. Compared to my Taurus trigger pull (which is very little), I can feel a set point of resistance before firing. With the 2022 in SA, there's also a set point of resistance before firing, but it is alot less defined than the Taurus.

I still would recommend renting before buying. My hands absolutely love the feel of the 2022, but other hands may not.

I've had to draw my weapon twice, luckily, I didn't have to shoot anyone..the fact I threw down stopped them from continuing their stupidity.

When I was with Ole sammy in my youth....weapons were always out.
