Personally, I think this thread is great as an eye-opener for other, newer members of ATS. I've seen a few comments in here already where folks are questioning the credibility of the MSM. So it appears it's a success already.

Here's my takeaway, both the Denver Post and MSNBC are even crappier news outlets than I initially believed because they deleted a portion of their reporting to cover up a mistake rather than say, "it was a mistake." And for that I blame their ignorant web editors. For that, I won't use those sites anymore.

Is there more to this story, absolutely. Will it get manipulated, absolutely. The best we do can beyond becoming reporters ourselves, is to find who and why all information is being changed or deleted - what agendas are being served.

And this is exactly the mentality I hope everyone has after reading this thread.

This thread wouldn't be worth anything if it wasn't opposed or challenged. Therefore everyone who does challenge it is only adding to the resource and showing others the method in which we should approach any claim or "fact".

Not to go too far off topic, but he was on anti-depressants prior to being incarcerated (says the MSM). He looks like he's detoxing while in prison, hence the screwed up look he has. Just an opinion.

Exactly, but if they killed him the news media would focus on the facial expressions during court and say 'yep, folks. He looked suicidal there!' That was my point. No one would even mention he was drugged.

ohhh.. The IRONY..
It burns.

Adding in here:
Isnt the official story that he was a Brilliant "shy and sweet" next door type or mysteriously had a break?

Seems like I am sort of saying the exact opposite.

A few points:

The thread title is an NOT a proven fact. It's as speciously sourced as the news orgs many are bashing.

It's not just a couple of orgs that do this. Ones I have personally seen are CNN, FOX, NYTimes, WSJ, Boston.com, and many more.

I went through a phase of emailing editors every time I saw it, as it's flipping shoddy journalism.

I think I maybe got one reply.

These people are under increased pressure to create a "quality" product at the speed of the 24hour television news. It's basically impossible.

Like I said earlier, have as high standards for your own posts as you do for the media. Don't claim your supposition as fact! Imagine if all the "evidence" and "fact" and "proof" threads on ATS were held to as high a standard as you're now all holding MSNBC.

With all the respect this thread deserve, but I think it is important that somebody says this:

I have the impression that there is too much emphasys here in the personality, the life and the domestic circumstances around Holmes, the murderer of Colorado victims during the premier of the Batman The Dark Knight III movie, when what is more evident is that the masacre is the last stage of a sequence of tragedies that surround those films since the premier of the very first of them.

There is nothing in the profile of Holmes that really explains why he suddenly lost his mind in this terrible way, but there a lot in the background of the strange synchronicities linked with the Dark Knight films that can do so.

The Dark Knight films about Batman are plagued of strange tragedies or terrible casualties, since even before the premier of the first movie, with two fatal accidents during the filming of it, for instance the one of stuntman Conway Wickliffe, who died in London during a stunt sequence involving the Batmobile; and the arrest of the protagonist of Christan Bale on the nights premiere accused of asault by his own mother, as well as the overdosis death of heath Ledger, and the car accident suffered by Morgan freeman a little after.

So what else must happen to make the people realize that these films are absolutely cursed?

Indeed there is a terrible Curse on these movies, that this is hapening due to the so terrible negative vibrations carried out in their own format, the transformation of the original charater of Batman, an hero that never cross the border in between what is honest, decent and fair , toward the so evil pragmatical macchiavelian mercenary that is portraited in this sage, that justify its own violence with the supposed fair condition of his goals, falling in the classical paradigm of the End justifies the means.

If you want to go deeply in the Dark Knight Curse visit my thread:

I honestly can't tell if you are "poe'ing" this or not... If so, that was well played

If not, Honestly I can't say one way or another, I am a skeptic which means I require proof on things and more over, I change my opinion based on the evidence and proof presented.

Most that I see in this thread is grasping at patterns that may or may not be there.

There is a lot to be concerned about in the media-the one that screams to me is the cliche nature of the claims on who he was when evidence clearly indicates otherwise.

Actually it is a proven fact. As of Friday Holmes had TWO roommates. Speaking in the past tense, Holmes most definitely HAD them.. According to the mainstream media he did, and now he doesn't respectively. Can you prove to me without a doubt that his name is James Holmes? Can you prove to me without a doubt that he was the only shooter? No, probably not.. But those are both facts. James Holmes also reportedly HAD teargas. That may not be the truth, but he HAD it on Friday... I worded the title that way for a reason.

It's not a farce. It is true.

Might have been mentioned earlier in the thread - but what are everyones opinions on the attempt to make Holmes out to be a "Joker-Immitator?" - which supposedly this new Journal evidence suggests as well.

Living in Colorado myself, there wasn't a news station that wasn't reporting any new information on the event, and I can't say how many times I've heard "Red hair, like the Jokers" - when any avid comic book reader or Dark Knight enthusiast knows that the Jokers hair is green, and always has been.

I even recall (trying to find video of it) a particular news outlet having a dialogue between desk reporter and field reporter in which the desk guy actually corrects the field reporters statement saying "No, his hair is green" and the field reporter is briefly stunned, then moves to another topic.

Some people have said that the Joker in the Dark Knight actually wears a red wig in the hospital scene - but it seems highly unlikely that someone trying to imitate a character would chose the 5min where he deviates from his normal demeanor.

Thoughts? Valid or not?

Why wouldn't the article mention a retraction like that? Most news sources will mention a retraction; not just make the retraction and not say anything and from what the op said it effects more then one website. If that's true, then surely there is something odd going on.

I noticed this as well. I didn't even bother to argue the point that the Joker doesn't have red hair but the media was trying to spin it as if to say Holmes dyed his hair red to look like the Joker. As if Holmes imitating the joker makes a difference in the murder and wounding of so many people. That was one aspect of all the reporting that has been done that has totally bugged me.

I also wonder if he ever made the statement that he was the Joker.

Good advice, and I hope this thread does give pause to more readers who may not be aware of the shenanigans.

I've been saying for the past few weeks, that the only way we, as a unified society can make our voice heard, is to hit them where it hurts (figuratively, for goodness sakes)... in the pocketbooks. Protests are shown in MSM light as a bad, outsider effort. They did a fantastic job, dissuading people from protesting at all during the Chicago summit. Even my mother, who is quite capable of seeing the big picture, has the kneejerk reaction to dissenters and protesters as being ne'erdowells who like to cause trouble, even when there is no reason to believe such. That's the powerful persuasion.

So I believe the only way we can make a statement, is to turn off mainstream media. I know that giving up precious cable or satellite is unthinkable to some, but it's the only chance we have of halting this downward spiral. Why does anyone want to pay a sizeable chunk of cash to be hammered with ads anyway?? Just like, why would someone go see a crappy movie for an outrageous fee, even if it's crappy? And then add the insult of paying to watch ads? Why are people accepting this?

Even if you believe yourself to be open-minded and analytical, day in day out exposure to mainstream news and other tv programming will still influence you - even if you just have it running in the background. Your brain still absorbs it. Remove it altogether and the benefit is doubled.

I found that once I turned off the MSM (and the rest of tv land), my stress level was greatly reduced. I realized there really was no benefit, nor did I feel any more informed when I was plugged in. There's a sense of peace that settles in, and your brain has time to ponder, rather than vacillate between sensory overload and repetition desensitization. The coverage prior to the NATO summit was out of hand, and the anxiety, fear and anticipation was pounded into the city's fabric. Since I missed all the hype, and nothing wildly dramatic resulted, I felt liberated and relieved that I didn't waste a lot of energy on the useless speculation that MSM was promoting.

But back to the bigger picture. If we all turned our backs and these news corporations lost funding and advertisers, they would be forced to come correct. Any unreported edits on a published piece should be called out on their sites and elsewhere. Any manipulations or speculations should be highlighted and distributed. Demand that any falsehoods be retracted. And above all, just stop absorbing the madness. You will feel better, and the benefit to us all is a hundredfold.

Refuse be a vessel for an agenda that ultimately not only hurts you, but society as a whole.

I'll take a swing at this one though a bit off topic but still pertains to the media. Classic journalism training teaches reporters to make parallels in news reporting to help their audience understand the events. Hence the killer was at a Batman movie, he disguised himself in his riot gear as wearing a costume (many attendees came in Batman-like costumes) and he dyed his hair red. Original reporting had him as the Bane character, but his hair dyed was closer to the Joker.

From there ignorant media classified his as the Joker to keep the story parallels alive. It's a bad analogy they've made, but their sticking to it because they believe the vast amount of readers don't really know the Joker character and have the 5 minute visual proof from the prior movie to support their claim. Again, just taking an educated guess here.

Edit: The police said that he said he was the Joker. But if he's some super fan, like the voice mail recording the gun club encountered, then he wouldn't have said that.

I don't get all the conspiracies surrounding this. Why would the police have not taken the shooter out to prevent him from talking?

Does not make sense.

the same reason they did not take out Oswald when he allegedly shot JFK.
PATSY!!

Ahhh...but Oswald tried to tell the crowd that he was a patsy and then he was killed that day. What will happen to Holmes when he snaps out of it and tries to talk? I worry about someone killing him and making it look like a suicide. His facial expressions in court would make this plausible.

Yes he did display some odd facial gymnastics in court didn't he!

So if he was drugged up in court, and had been in custody since it happened, then who gave him the drugs whilst he was in custody? Someone drugged him up in custody, I doubt his 'painkillers' that they are claiming he took would have lasted until he went to court??

Can you find your original source that stated this.. Because it would only help to serve that the removal of such information was more deliberate and not necessarily a matter of it being false.

As another resident of Colorado - Littleton, Columbine area, I watched the news unfold mere hours after it happened.

Other than being struck at how set up it seemed to be and how contrived it was. I was also very suspicious of how they kept "correcting" a story out of NY saying the suspect had painted red hair. The news reporters kept emphasizing that that did NOT come from any reports in Colorado and they did not know where it came from. In my mind I KNEW it would be an important factor in the story.

I'm going to go look for video evidence of this.
