WOW. I... really?? Is anyone actually reading this thread? It seems the point is being missed by a large number of responders, and it just serves to confirm why this is such a bad trend.

There is also NO REASON WHATSOEVER to keep the old details especially if it turns out that stuff reported early on is not accurate.
For example, CNN could report about some accident reporting 2 injured within a few minutes. 30 minutes later story gets updated by the editor because more fatalities are becoming known...in time, the old cache will be gone.

Using the logic above, I should be able to go into reels of microfilm or the digital equivalent and just switch things around as I see fit and with no paper (or digital trail). You mess with that, and you mess with reality. Outlets have already become lazy or plain contrary to citing sources and printing a lot of dubious claims by anonymous "officials".
For example, CNN shouldn't be reporting the number of injuries in an accident if they do not have confirmed information. Secondly, if the story changes, there should be a notation or a NEW article stating this. But to go back and silently edit already published material is BAD. BAD. Why is that not clicking with people?

You haven't been paying attention. Just because one news organization silently updates their story to remove a piece of information that might not be factual doesn't mean that every other news organization out there follows suit. If they all did that then we would never get any actual news because they'd be too busy going back to already published stories and scrubbing them. When a piece of information just vanishes from existence within a few days from all the MSM sources and not one of them posts a retraction, that's no reason to raise suspicion?
Going back to your example from the AP corrections page on incorrectly reporting what his school presentation was back in May. If I Google "Aurora Micro DNA Biomarkings" (the false presentation topic) I still get tons of news articles from MSM sources that have not been edited to remove that false piece of information. Fact is, it is much easier to post a retraction than it is to go back to all the places where that bad piece of information existed and remove it like it was never there to begin with. Especially when it is something insignificant like the subject of his last college presentation.
I think you've proven my point.
It hasn't been scrubbed from every story has it? It's easy enough to find it.
As far as ALL the MSM, well, first you assume it WAS in all the MSM, seen no proof of that, then you have to assume that it's actually been scrubbed from then you have to assume that the MSM is LESS likely to make corrections, which seems an odd assumption, as they have more money and staff to fix things, not less.
So...?
all of it, we've seen no proof of that,

Some of you just have to jump on conspiracies no matter what.
This guy is a psychopath, no telling how long he has been this way under the radar.
He used his Student Loans to buy everything and had it shipped to the university.
The booby trapped apartment was amateur but deadly intended to kill probably the police when they arrived to investigate.
And this guy is a Wall Street Protestor Occupier, Photos of him being arrested by the Police on the Brooklyn Bridge have been found. Its the same exact face.
When this Cinema posted their signs saying "no guns allowed" meaning normal conceal carry permit guns for normal people, they then should have assumed full responsibility for all safety.
On the same day as this shooting there was another in the same state, a recent released convict, got hold of a gun he didnt own, and went to church to shoot everyone, when he walked in to start shooting he got off one round and then one of the churchgoes who was carrying a concealed weapon dropped him with one shot before he could go on a rampage.
Guns do not kill people, its the person who pulls the trigger who makes that choice.
In Switzerland this kind of behavior is almost non existent, as the law says every Swiss Citizen must maintain several guns, they take classes on how to handle them, and that is the law. Anyone in Switzerland who is going to commit a crime knows full well most of the bystanders and or victims will all be packing.
This guy Holmes is a Nutcase, and in world of Billions there are going to be individuals like this.
And thank you for being patient and consistent in trying to re-explain the issue throughout. Total subversion of media is bad enough, but the lack of understanding regarding the implications is beyond frustrating. I'm trying to hold onto the last thread of hope I have for humanity, and this blindness is wearing it to microscopic thinness.

It's almost disheartening to see that not only did I make a thread about this phenomena but the thread itself is proving to me beyond a doubt that what they are doing works.. And people think it is okay!
I couldn't have said it any better..
I'm so glad I'm not completely alone in thinking that this is totally messed up.
At the Salk Institute, Holmes acquired a reputation as a "dolt," Eagleman told the newspaper, adding that he didn't know Holmes. Eagleman worked as a researcher at the Salk Institute when Holmes was there, according to the paper.
A widely circulated video of Holmes making a presentation at the institute was misleading, Eagleman said, saying the words were prepared by his advisers.
"He was just given the presentation to read," Eagleman told USA Today. "He wasn't any sort of superscientist when he was 18."/ex]]
Could you link the sources please?

– James Holmes, the accused gunman in last Friday's midnight movie massacre in Colorado, mailed a notebook "full of details about how he was going to kill people" to a University of Colorado psychiatrist before the attack, but the parcel sat unopened in a mailroom for as long as a week before its discovery Monday, a law enforcement source told FoxNews.com.
Police and FBI agents were called to the University of Colorado Anschutz medical campus in Aurora on Monday morning after the psychiatrist, who is also a professor at the school, reported receiving a package believed to be from the suspect. Although that package turned out to be from someone else and harmless, a search of the Campus Services' mailroom turned up another package sent to the psychiatrist with Holmes’ name in the return address, the source told FoxNews.com.
A second law enforcement source said authorities got a warrant from a county judge and took the package away Monday night. When it was opened, its chilling contents were revealed.
“There were drawings of what he was going to do in it--drawings and illustrations of the massacre."

“Inside the package was a notebook full of details about how he was going to kill people,” the source told FoxNews.com. “There were drawings of what he was going to do in it - drawings and illustrations of the massacre."
MSNBC reports that public records show Holmes lived with two roommates at the apartment, which is reserved for students, faculty and staff from the medical campus.

But when you click on the link in the quote, the information is no longer there. Ok fine, so it says they edited it on Friday-- whatever. So I click on the link to the "cache" version and whadda-ya-know? 404'd (cache deleted)
Google's own cached link
This is not a malformed address on my part, this is the cache link provided by Google. Here's what you get:

I found 4 other 404'd cache versions of this roommate sentence last night. Now today, Google isn't providing a cache link at all on some of them. Get it while you can.

its allways Friday. Coincidence?? no.
What a fohuckin joke.
How.... convenient... Those darn pesky anonymous "sources" are everywhere, aren't they?? I give up. There is so much proven false information swirling around, that I find it very difficult to just take Fox's word for it. This guy's profile has been molded, intimated, and manipulated for the single purpose of society's unanimous and passionate vote of guilt beyond reasonable doubt. The creepier and more salacious these accounts can be, the better!
