Music on a timer set for 12:00 20 minutes before he started shooting at the movie theater would be a sign of the use of timers. And I would not be surprised if the call he received at the theater before going outside to suit up and arm himself might of been the landlord of the apartment calling about the noise. So detective work of putting together the pieces would of said be cautious.

Audio of the NBC stream died after the news guy started blabbing on his phone, off camera, about what will happen tomorrow. Apparently no demo, he's expecting a few days worth of fine-tooth-combing.

On the Fox live feed the lady was saying that the police are saying it is safe to go in now.

If their controlled detonation was designed to disable the on-site device, it could be that they were dealing with one that had a chemical mix that had to be combined to cause an explosion. If the two chemicals don't get mixed, then there's no bang.

Same goes if the trigger was mechanical and they could destroy it before it could activate and detonate the device.

The women on the live Fox feed just said that they've done two controlled explosions so far. One was to stop two chemicals from mixing together, and the other was to disarm a trip wire I think (the feed cut out as she was talking about the trip wire).

Oh, ok. Thanks for the update. (I went over to the shop to get my accursed nicotine supplies and just got back in.)

So, at least one device was based on two chemicals that had to be mixed to detonate. Hmmm... I suspected that might be the case because odd as it may sound, that's a rather more sophisticated way to set up a bomb. Seemingly simple, but actually less common than just a prepared bomb with the chemicals already mixed and detonator in place. (Like eg Oklahoma and also London's 7/7 bombs.)

I won't go into the special reasons why such a "non-mixed" device could have some "advantages" in the circumstances. (If you want to know you can U2U me.) But it's clear that the person/s who put it there was aware of this angle and that in itself is evidence of some fairly detailed knowledge.

As to disabling the trigger wire, yes -- it sounded like what they'd want to do. Makes sense to me. EDIT to add: It also doesn't surprise me that the feed got cut just as the reporter talked about the trigger wire. I think even on a live feed there is a delay, and she might have said something too specific and so someone pulled the plug. If that was the case I frankly don't blame them.

Thanks! Here is the fox feed again. Went home to watch on tv....but thanks to you, now know that the tv feed is focusing on the "soft side" and tangential issues.....this net feed sticks to the apt.

Yes. They're setting up for another one. Could be another device or altertnatively, they were not happy with the results of the previous one.

No, I didn't. Seems like they are just making sure at this point. They should be back up at the window again in the next hour with the scope to check it out.

Thanks for the confirm on no secondaries. Could still be that their action was successful, though. My feed's frozen now so I have no idea what's going on but have to agree with you that they'll likely scope it out before going in.

No sense in hurrying to rush in there, after all.
