This would be the moment my reporting would be pushed to the sideline and I would be hitting the high road.

What if those liquids are a 2 part poison gas waiting to be mixed.

Yes, it's all strange. No manifesto posted, no shoot-it-out with the police, very sophisticated exposives setup in his apt.

This is sure an odd one.

Re legal represenation: yes, it was mentioned on a couple of news channels (CNN, SKY), that he has an attorney.

they say theres some blue liquid with some wires on the jar.

turn up the volume on the fox player, put on headphones, and switch from can to can to hear it properly.

HERE FAUX LIVE FEED LOL

sorry I meant to put it up but was sidetracked watching it

Quoting your post so the linky is on this new page.

Thanks for putting that up!

And yes, apparently they're going to do a controlled demo in about 15 mins. I guess that means they have a fair idea of what chemicals they're dealing with.

ETA: make that one minute!

Very small bang. Typical for a small controlled demo. Nice job.

There it was let's see if they blew apart the device enough so it doesn't work. It didn't look like their were any secondary explosions.

Now they've apparently disabled that device, they only have to worry about ones that could be hidden inside a closet, under the bed (or in it), inside a refigerator, in the back of the TV, up in the ceiling, etc etc.

I can pretty well guarantee that LE are not simply going to walk in and just pack up everything into evidence bags and boxes and stroll out with it. Not yet. If they do I'll be more than a little suspicious.

Now that they have disarmed the second device, how long will it be (if ever) that we get to hear about/see what is in that apartment?

Well that was kind of boring.

Glad no one else was hurt. Doesn't need to be anymore chaos from this kid.

Didn't see the feed, but judging from the cooments so far of those here who did, I take it it was a bit of a dud firework.

And only one explosion? Obviously that would be their controlled detonation?

So why wasn't there also an explosion from the 'sophisticated device' they said was in there?

I was just wondering something, and after seeking for 20 minutes I could not find a clear answer. How did they know that this mans apartment was booby-trapped?

Depends. I mentioned the need to be aware of other, possibly concealed devices. So they need to proceed with caution. I mean, if hypothetically I were going to set up a place like that I'd have other devices concealed, with various methods to trigger them. (The old "take out the rescuers" concept. The device that goes off later to take out those who come in response to help those who got hit by an earlier one. Old trick and not uncommon.) And these bomb disposal people aren't dumb so they'll be very cautious.

But even after they've made sure the place is "clean", there is no reason why LE needs to share all the details of what they find with us. It could be that they are very limited in that, considering the case.

Well at least we know it wasnt a government sponsored false flag because the whole building would have collapsed and they would be shipping all the remains to china to be destroyed already.

Thats right..i said it

If their controlled detonation was designed to disable the on-site device, it could be that they were dealing with one that had a chemical mix that had to be combined to cause an explosion. If the two chemicals don't get mixed, then there's no bang.

Same goes if the trigger was mechanical and they could destroy it before it could activate and detonate the device.
