When the Feds get involved, you know it was a covert op:

www.cnn.com...
The FBI is assisting in the investigation, officials said. .... Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents were involved in the apartment search, agency spokesman Tom Mangan said.

Wikipedia is already reporting this incident in its information on the movie.

They are reporting that the shooter was dressed as the character Bane. (hmmmm.....what else this past week was said in the MSM about who Bane might represent???)

For what it's worth the military and cops do use paintball and airsoft type equipment for force on force training.

The whole idea is being able to shoot while avoiding getting shot.

Granted, a real gun does feel very different from some off the shelf paintball or airsoft equipment but for some extra cash (a lot of extra cash) you can get Simunition equipment.

It's better than simply punching holes in paper and a lot safer than shooting real guns at each other.

Like i said, YES they do , and we did, but we also did it in conjuction with live fire exercises........it wasnt fun on the paintball range.......

The training is vastly different the being out doing paintball, with no sense of consequences........the drills are designed to be true to life........

Not "oh man im out"

The training makes the difference........

Even police have trouble taking out someone in full body armor, this guy was in riot gear .. I remember a case several years back where police were firing tons of ammo at two men in body armor and it wasn't stopping them.. though hey also had full protection for their head as well ..

Still someone who's decked out in armor and who's moving is going to be very hard to hit in a spot that will stop him.. and the thing people seem to keep ignoring is that he fired off tear gas canisters in the room, that's not like regular smoke bombs..

Tear gas, formally known as a lachrymatory agent or lachrymator (from lacrima meaning "tear" in Latin), is a non-lethal chemical weapon that stimulates the corneal nerves in the eyes to cause tears, pain, and even blindness. Common lachrymators include OC, CS, CR, CN (phenyacyl chloride), nonivamide, bromoacetone, xylyl bromide and syn-propanethial-S-oxide (from onions).

So these people claiming they could take this guy out.. aiming and getting a critical hit on a moving target are full of it .. TEAR GAS .. your eyes are going to be watering and irritated on top of the fact it's already very low visibility to begin with.. any of you thinking you could just go firing off your gun in a crowded room under those circumstances and save the day are full of ego on top of being down right irresponsible.

The training and adrenalin make the difference. There is no fear on a paintball course. No risk of life or limb. I haven't had military training, but I'm guessing they make it feel as realistic as possible, and people do get real injuries from time to time in military training, so that element is there. I know they also use real explosives and re-create the noise of real gunfire in training sometimes.

I know some military and LEO guys that will do pushups and jumping jacks and sprints in between shooting at a range, so they can attempt to get the experience of shooting while the heartrate is elevated and the muscles are fatigued.

Nothing substitutes for real combat or fire fight experience though.

I think that r2 guy is just trolling now, and I've stopped responding to his posts, its a waste of time.

You know I'll tell you something...

I always had a sneaky suspicion that there was something not good for you in the fake butter they use. Something that could really screw with you.

I am disgusted by NYC Mayor Bloomberg for his knee jerk comments calling for national level increases on gun control. I am sick of jumping through their hoops already.

Besides, what kinds of controls would be within the 2nd Amendment? This guy was a med student, and had only 1 traffic stop on his record. What would have stopped him from killing these people today? He was bright enough to figure out how to make his own devices should guns have not been available to him.

No body is debating the fact that it would be hard, and the odds are stacked........

The point is this guy is saying that cc carriers wouldnt stand a chance....

This is untrue, someone who has a weapon with the ability to defend themselves , is in a superior position to stop the threat............period.......full stop, there is NO debating that............its simple logic......

A man with a weapon, regardless of the situation, is more prepared to take out another with a weapon......

I got to wondering why in the world the guy would pick a theater across from a police station...but then I thought of all of the body armor. He likely wanted or expected to engage with LEOs at some point.

Well that should silence those in here that think they are america's next top shot.. there's nobody with a concealed carry that would have taken him down.. police would have even had trouble taking him down since they are far less protected, and even outgunned since he had an assault rifle.. he gave himself up peacefully fortunately.

Okay, I found the answer.

www.rmgo.org...

The only places in Colorado that you can't carry a concealed weapon (with a permit) are areas prohibited by FEDERAL LAW. That would be your court houses, airports....not movie theatres. So all you would be violating would be the company policy. They could kick you out if they realized you had it, but big damned deal. In this case, you might have been kicked out in time to not be shot in the face.

That isn't correct. In fact already watched a well educated man get off without giving ID to the cops after calling the supervisor in COLORADO. Why? Because 1. OC is permitte WITHOUT a liscense, No need for a liscense.

2. OC is not sufficient grounds on its own, to have probable cause. And the police officer kept saying someone had seen the gun and phoned them. So they were trying to peddle probable cause as OC, which the man already knew the court cases and cited them.

OC without a permit legal, that is NOT probable cause to pull him over at all, unless he matches a description of a criminal they had no right to stop him.

en.wikipedia.org...

That video was great, hope to find it again.

If it was that many people it's got to be stagged. If it was just a few I'd suspect a random idea. But that many? No way it's likely stagged.

Just confirmed: TEN dead

this is just... horrible. Can't even watch a movie without worrying about getting shot up.

Horrible/tragic story for sure.

I do hope that before people applaud the forfeiting of more of their rights in response to this "domestic terrorism", they consider math first.

This was 10 people dead. A horrible loss no doubt -- I'm not downplaying it.

Are you sure it's 10.....and not 11? I mean, it was in theater 9. And, the last report i got...was 12. So, you got a report saying 10 dead, i see the report saying 12 dead. Hmmmmmm....what number goes in between 10 and 12???? hahahahahah

Also....that gunman had some pretty bad aim. He ONLY killed 10 - 12 people....in a packed movie theatre???

Maybe, Theater 9 was having it's own stage play. Hey, ya never know, and we shouldn't be so gullable to believe everything we see. Not all that glitters is gold....and i wouldn't put it past TPTB to stage something like this. Not during these crazy times. Desperate times calls for desperate measures....and our government, is getting pretty desperate.

My mother in law helped pull 12 dead bodies out of the theatre, your hope for 11 to tie this to the illuminiati will have to wait.

Unless the EMTs that declaired the 12 dead were lying to my mom; 12 died.

3 more are in critical condition so the number could end up at 15.

God Bless,

Your mother in law seems to have fabricated her story to you. The police chief is currently giving a LIVE briefing, and stated, "10 died AT THE SCENE, and the bodies are STILL inside, pending further investigation and identification. 2 others died at local hospitals." Would your mother in law like to revise her statement? It's disinformation like this that makes me wonder about our society.
