So, is this something like what you're looking for?

With a MIB against a black background it's hard not to obscure some of the original image, but at around a 65% transparency value for the MIB, you still see him but without losing too much of the binary image detail.

A DIB. Dog In Black.
That's funny.

I finally found something. It isn't the best for a shadowy figure, but it isn't bad either, except for the red eyes. They're kinda goofy. But it would work I think. It would even be kinda cool if the binary background bled through here and there. I'll leave it to you guys, you're the pro's, I'm just throwing out thoughts and ideas I've had.

I think you read my mind Mike.

Can you do that with the shadowy figure I posted for comparison?

I can have a go at it but I'll need maybe an hour or so. It's not such a "clean" image to work with so paring away all that white will take longer. (If any white gets left it won't look good.)

But yeah, it's worth a try.

Meanwhile here's version 2 of the above, with the first version on the right for comparison. Version 2 has the original "binary" image recopied and layered on top of the MIB as a low-level transparent image, so it has slightly more brightness:

I think you and Mike are hitting the nail on the head. Hope you guys don't mind if I hang onto these for switching out occasionally. I promise, I won't switch mine daily like Heff.

Version 2.
I'm gonna try that one out now.

ETA2: Please, take your time Mike. I know you and the others here have a life. I don't expect anyone to drop what they're doing and cater to my whims. I just appreciate all the fine craftsmanship and artistic ability in this thread.

Family in town this weekend so can't catch up this morning on the past few pages....but thought I would share a really neat thing we did yesterday....first time I had ever been here, we saw the most beautiful big cats, and this place is a completly different dynamic then most zoo's.......some of these cats purrrr....OMG they were all so great, and seemed happy...well, except the little Linx, who had just lost his partner the day before, he was sad, and getting extra Love........

We met Tango......and the lion in the first video is now a beautiful full grown lion....did you know that black panthers are atually leapords with no spots? Anyways......have a great day everyone....

Here are a few of my works in "Bryce" a 3D modelling, and rendering program. The "Avatar creations forum" has given me one or two ideas. In "Bryce" i do Coats of arms as well though i haven't done any for a few years.
See what you think?.

Here's one with the given pic

I pared away most of the white, then changed his colors and left the remnants as a "soft glow"

No worries.
And I'm doing these to have a break from other stuff. Like modding. Gotta have some fun, right?

Anyway I've got the Shadowy dude done pretty much. Just playing around with contrast to see if it will come up clearer, and also maybe add a greenish tinge to make him more creepy, but meanwhile here's a tryout. The cleaned up original on the left (had to stretch him a bit!) and the first version on the right.

What do you think about the glowing eyes Mike? Leave them? Get rid of them? Change their color?

I've already tried about six different version of the eyes. It's a problem when saving to jpeg that we lose some of the color value sometimes. I think it wouldn't matter if they were left out.
