Enlightenment

Hey ats.

I don't really know how to start, or where to start.

But there are becoming more and more people, who seems to be awaiting some kind of enlightenment, who thinks there someday will come an golden age, and every person will become better, spiritual, a good fellow man, and what not.

That actually frightens me.

Not the change... But the fact that there are so many people, who actually waits for it..
Who thinks, they don't need to do anything, other than wait, so this crappy world will become a better place.

The reason the world wont become any better soon, are because of people like that.

For me, enlightenment is something yourself achieve. Not something you have to wait on.

Its when you go help another person who is stuck because of his car.
Its when you begin to think about what you are doing, not just doing things because of yourself.
Its when you think of another person, before you think of yourself.
Its when you start to understand that animals got feelings too.
Its when you feel bad when you throw out garbage from your car window.

I could keep going, but I guess most of you know what a good person is.

The reason I write this, is because of a thread there was started on ATS for some time ago, where they were talking about how enlightenment was going to work, and that you could feel it.

In the thread, it scared me how many that wrote "That is happening for me" And so on.

If you actually think, you can achieve enlightenment, without doing anything, you are wrong.
And then you are probably one of the reason we will never have a 'golden age'.

You need to wake up, and do something to others, instead of sitting home and think you are evolving into some higher spirituality.

Sorry, this is not at all about enlightenment.
Until you experience it for yourself you are just making noises.

You will be frightened until you see it. This is the human condition of fear, each person suffers from this. Only when you know what is real will the suffering/fear stop. When the fear is gone you will know that you have been liberated.

His noise contain a large element of truth. At least he is not trying to convince people that he is enlightened himself.

This is your personnal opinion.
If Jesus came back today he would still be crucified. For some strange reason humans cannot hear or see the truth even when it is right here. They have been implanted with so many ideas, so many beliefs, that they do not know that which is real.

I agree with what you say, you must release fear from your life and work towards self acceptance. There you will find your bliss.

Those aren't separate things. You can wait for enlightenment and when it comes you will do those things. On some level you will have become enlightened as a result of active pursuit or somewhere in the subconscious. It doesn't matter which way it happens.

If you do things that you don't feel good about, you're lying to yourself just as much as if you do things you know are wrong because your job or social circle demands it of you. Lying to yourself is always just that. It's intent that counts.

Sometimes things don't turn out as we'd hoped they would. That's simply a result of not seeing the bigger picture. That comes with experience. Few souls are experienced enough to be graced with supreme compassion. It cannot really be learned quickly because it takes experiences to give that breadth and depth of vision, and that means you have to make a *whole lot of "mistakes"*. Our current civilization chooses to punish mistakes and prevent them. Not really a good policy for anyone, looking from that point of view, is it? So things have to change.

Change is what the enlightenment is all about. And here we come full circle back to the fact that you will change if you are going to do so. If you're not, all the posing and posturing and pretending in the world won't change that your intent is not pure and you're not enlightened. Actions alone do not produce that enlightenment.

At the end of the day, who are we to judge?

Would you be able to tell if someone who said they were, was or was not Enlightened?.
How would you deduce if they were being truthful?, Just because a person says they are, does not mean they are not.

Maybe you aren't seeing the full story from just a forum on the internet. Maybe you aren't seeing the pilgrimages, the meditations, the charity, the yoga, the tears, the burning heart chakras, the trials and tribulations.

Enlightenment cannot be achieved. It is not a thing that is out there somewhere waiting to be found.

If you believe you have to be a good person to be enlightened you are trapped carrying a heavy load which is why your life is heavy instead of enlightened.

We can't really use truth for much, as everybody is lying, even the person you thought was the most open and spiritual person.

But truth, is another thing than action.

You can still help people, nature, animals and still be a lying person.

Not what? A good person? I think you are exactly what you are supposed to be at this moment. I am not going to judge you for doing or not doing any of that stuff.

I think you missed something about my thread.

Enlightenment does not exist. Its not something I would wait on, like many persons do.
Enlightenment will never come, but its up to you if you live in a good or bad world.

Many people think this world is such a bad place, and they are all begging for enlightenment to come.
Can't you see that is horribly wrong?

This is your belief, until it happens you will continue to believe it.
Enlightenment is the falling away of all delusion, all lies and confusion. When this happens life is beautiful and you will know the kingdom.
Believing is all there is until knowing is known.
