Recent changes to ATS Home Page?

yeah I agree with those who dont like it...

I see what they are trying to do, which is create a dynamic page that shows as much onfo as possible... problem is it looks rubbish and is confusing and uncomfortable.

Form and function is the key, it seems to me the front page has neither.

ATS how about creating some colour coding system so we can read the info properly, the hierarchy is shot. its just a mess. Also why such a huge clunky header text?

Yup, I see it too. Count me in on not liking it.

Really, they need to hire a layout designer, just going for a bold look doesn't do it at all.

Not a huge fan of the changes myself, personally.

I think looks a little plain, disorganised & somehow doesn't fit with the rest of ATS.

Just my 2 cents.

I like the change because there's not a crap ton of ads. It's much more clear and concise this way.

Agreed! It reminds me of sites that have no credibility, just because of the layout. maybe its just me, but if i was visiting ATS for the first time and saw that, I would be biased about the whole website I think change is a good thing, but i'm not sure about this change!
I also think its important to continue to state the 'important' topics that are active... although it would ne nice to have more than the two top stories (as it was).. maybe design it to have more than 2...

I was also thinking, as a side note, it would be cool to have a 'rewind' story, could be called something else, that brings and older active thread to the forefront.. there are so many wicked threads that get lost and that new members do not know about.. it would be cool to have a throwback/reminder of past threads that are important and relevant still... just a thought

No flow to it and right away it's a negative look. If I were a new person coming to this site it would be hard for me to stay. 1st impressions have a lasting affect.

I'm enjoying the change. I'm finding that I'm giving each topic displayed a little more attention especially those which are accompanied by a blurb that can help me decide whether I want to look further into that discussion. I also like the colors which backfill the topic boxes. I find I'm being informed in a more relaxing way.

It's almost as if someone vomited the sites content all over that page.

Any new visitors are gonna be thrown off by that page.

There's no structure or anything.

If any mods or the sites designer are reading this.
Please the front page of a website needs to be first time visitor friendly.
There needs to be a clear structure in order to lead visitors to where they want to go.

Is there a thread talking about the front page design?
I want to give some input.

It looks so.... beforeitsnews like. Don´t like that. But I like the intention behind that, just not the design.
ATS should fix the TOOLS section first, before it opens another construction site.
I said numerous times that I´m able to fix this mess there but the thread got deleted. I´m more than sure I´m not the only one who could do this, as there are several members with php knowledge here.

When I saw it this morning, I thought someone had messed with my computer's settings and magnified the screen WAY too much.

I was gonna holler at the kids when I got home later.

I hope they change it back; its way too disorganized for my taste.

Just my two cents... I like it for the simple fact that it makes mobile browsing much easier. I'm usually on ATS on my iPhone so anything more streamlined or mobile friendly is an improvement in my humble opinion.

Interesting. With so many now browsing with phones, could be the reason it was done that way....I never thought of that.

Well, change doesn't bother me at all. Keeps things from getting stagnant or stale.
