I too have had the unwarranted pleasure of their pugilistic attention. A couple of years ago in Perth Western Australia. I had been going through a traumatic period, after recently losing my beautiful 17yr old son to suicide. I had caught a return ticket Perth - Rockingham. Somewhere along the way, I inadvertently lost my ticket, due to my mind being elswhere due to obvious reasons. When I could not produce a ticket and had no money to buy another one, as I was off work due to grief. These two transit guards of Indian origin, which is the majority employed.(no Iam not racist either) I believe they are the Nagas (watchers of the Serpent Race). They proceeded to harass me, I said to them "Look Guys can you give me a break, I have recently lost my son and Iam not thinking clearly. I havent got any more money can you let me slide" At this stage, they told me they had to detain me and take me to the Perth Watch house for processing. At this stage I became irate and said "# this bull# over a 3 dollar fare" and proceeded to walk out of the station. At this stage I was physically tackled to the ground by two of these thugs, my arm twisted behind my back and was told by one of my aggressors. No wonder your son killed himself with a long haired loser of a father like you. I just stared at him and said # You. I was in the military for six years and I woke up to that. It seems they are all too willing to become mentally and physically aggressive at the slightest infraction. At each station they have at least 20 to 30 guards doing nothing but harassing commuters.

With the Queensland trains, the system is so messed up its not funny.
They have a "Gocard" system. Where you are meant to buy a swipe card from a news agent, then put money on it.
The only way you can log in to see how much money is on the card is if you Register the card, full name, date of birth, address, phone number. If you dont register it, the only way you can check the balance is from their vending machine like recharge stations located at the train stations.
Ever since queensland rails was sold off to a private corporation, the gocard scanners started acting up, big time.
I get on the train at Central Station, there's about 10 "lanes" at the 3 entrances. All have automatic doors that are closed untill you swipe on.
A few problems i encounter regularly:
You swipe, the LCD panel flashes green and says "Go", the gates open. But it does not register on the card that you have swiped on. You get picked up by the ticketies on the train and fined for "Traveling without paying".
Another one is you swipe but the gates dont open, you swipe again and it will open the gates, but it's just registerd that you've decided to cancel using the train so you're not "Swiped on" even tho the LCD screen shows your good to go.
Yet another is you swipe, but the gate doors open in the oposite direction, as if someone tried using them from the other side to exit, even tho noone is there. This also does not register on the card that you have swiped on.
I've lost count of the number of times you go to swipe off at the train station only for it to buzz red and tell you to "Seek Assistance". You swipe again and guess what! It swiped you off the first time and swiping again registers as a new trip. Congratulations, by the end of the day the card will be minus $10 because if you dont swipe off within a two hour period it automatically charges full fare.
Alot of the swipe off points at stations are poorly designed. Rain and the elements get in. Hard to see what the screen is trying to tell you when all you can see is condensation and dead bugs.
They know theres rampant bugs in the system, but there is absolutely no leeway, nor do they seem to have the ability to "swipe you on" from their handheld ticket-checkers. Which would be the logical thing to do since the system is so flawed and buggy.
You talk with them politely, ask them to step back for a second and look at the situation from your point of view, you swipe on, it says go, the gates open, you jump on the train and come when they check you on the train somethings buggerd up. You've done everything right, yet obviously something is wrong with their system.
They tell you that its your fault, and "your responsibility" to ensure everythings running correctly.
I dont understand why they have over 10 people watchign the entrance gates at central station, is it not their job to ensure people that go thru swipe on correctly? Once your inside the gates at central station theres no way you can check if you've swiped on, as theres no gocard devices inside, its just the gates and outside the gates.
Back in 2002 when public transport was still fully owned by the government, it cost me $3.56 to travel from the city, 5 zones out, furthest you can go before you'd have to seek a private bus service to go further, as an adult.
Now it's costing me $3.58 to travel 2 zones as an adult. 5 zones would be above the $6 mark.
Paper tickets cost 30% more than using a gocard. The ticket stations at each station (bar central station and roma st station, the two stations located in the middle of brisbane city) only open from 6am and close at 10am.
They "Used" to advertise it was cheaper to take public transport than it was to drive your car. This is no longer the case, its cheaper to drive your car and pay for petrol each week than it is to take public transport. (That is if you dont have to pay for parking)
Its all about making money. Its far more profitable for them to employ thugs in uniform to patrol every 2nd train, and fine people whom are victims of faults in their system than it is to have a system that works properly.
The number of people whome get slapped with a fine and did to the right thing, far outnumber the people whom are being shady and are skipping the train fares.
And to the person on the first page with their nasty comments about the situation and Australians, i need not say anything mean or disrespectfull against you, your attitude and your own words do that perfectly.

Job applications at www.transport.vic.gov.au/ if you're interested in being such a ... guard.
what a ...
yeah...
you deserve something pal...
So you think it is acceptable to steal access to transport and display an attitude to the people trying to prevent this sort of theft?
Good to see that the Australians continue in the line of common criminality that brought them into existance. Your Great Great Grandads would be very, very proud of you.
Good to see people like you who think that punching on and smashing people is the right thing to do.
You're just sad.
As for your jibe at my family history, go stick it up your arse.
It is the right thing to do when presented with a transport theif refusing to show his ticket, giving an attitude and refusing to comply with the requests of a worker who as described above, had full police powers.
It wasn't jibe, by the way. It was the truth. The scum that we removed from our land bred and their offspring continue the tradition.
There's no point in alterring your comments, I've copied the original and also highlighted it so that it is easier for the moderators to deal with your breach of the rules.edit on 5-7-2012 by Arbeit because: (no reason given)

Are you serious? The bloke had a ticket and it wouldn't matter if he didn't. No one deserves to cop a hiding like that
no matter what they've done.
In 2007 I was travelling from Merinda Park on the Pakenham line to the city, I couldn't get a ticket as the machine wasn't working as per normal. So I thought I'd get a ticket at Flinders Street when I got off. I mean I still had to buy a ticket, I still had to get home right?
So I go up to an inspector and report that the machine wasn't working at Merinda Park and that I wanted an all day
ticket. He says you cant buy one, he wanted my details and that I was to be fined $200.
At this point I lose it and he gets 3 of his buddies and they try to heavy me. I'm not a small bloke and I can handle myself but I was lucky Flinders St. was crowded at 8.30 am in the morning. I think I was about to get a hiding.
Common sense prevailed and even though I tried to fight the ticket, they still fined me $200.
So for the want of a $4 ticket, I am fined $200 and that bloke at Dennis station gets bashed, and he had a ticket.
This is the future, everything privatised and policed by thugs.
Martial Law is already here.
$200 was clearly not enough as you seemingly do not recognise that you willingly and knowingly travelled on the train without paying, with some lame dame excuse that you wanted to buy a ticket.
You should have been roughed up a little more, might have taught you not to cheat the system.

You have my utmost respect and sympathies, I am so sorry for your loss. I can somewhat relate to your son as I have attempted on my own life, once again I am so sorry.
Stay strong.

The "guy" had a ticket!
Well then clearly there is more to it than what the video shows. He probably had an attitude problem, like most people who come out with these sorts of videos on the news do, but neglecting to point it out.
