Michael Aravopoulos was simply trying to get home when he was set upon by six ticket inspectors. He claims they dragged him onto a train platform in Melbourne and bashed him and witnesses back that story.

www.abc.net.au...

Michael Aravopoulos

A passenger called triple 0 saying, "This guy just got fully brutalised on the train," "... thrown off the train, head smashed into the concrete ... repeated times"...

there have been another 12 complaints against inspectors for using excessive force. The Victorian Department of Transport found all were unsubstantiated.

Ticket inspectors in action.

It's quite simple, you buy a ticket to travel, or else you are a theif. And theives deserve to be treated exactly as shown in the video if not worse.

Well then clearly there is more to it than what the video shows. He probably had an attitude problem, like most people who come out with these sorts of videos on the news do, but neglecting to point it out.

No wonder they get bricks and other foreign objects thrown at the train windows. This is a disgrace. Since when were ticket inspectors allow to use force. Who do they think they are, police officers or something?

What lame excuse are you going to use when they start deploying the armed guards with semi automatic weapons after they have shot someone? They are nearly here btw..

So you think it is acceptable to steal access to transport and display an attitude to the people trying to prevent this sort of theft?

Good to see that the Australians continue in the line of common criminality that brought them into existance. Your Great Great Grandads would be very, very proud of you.

Sadly, the truth in at least WA is that if an offense if committed on the railway property, the revenue enforcement officers, the public transport authority or the transit special constables have full police powers. They can apprehend you off the premises if you commit a crime on their property, so leaving the platform does not mean you get away.

They once had a slew of Chub security on the perth trains a few years ago. They would watch you get bashed. Push the button on the camera above the drivers door and just record the event. Useless as tits on a bull.

Now we have these scumbags who beat people and expect impunity. It should not matter if someone has an attitude, as long as they do not break the law, so mr 'they deserve it' above can kiss my arrogant attitude...

They are not there to protect you by the way, that is not their job. They are there to enforce ticket purchases.

I don't get the trains any more, because of the weak little men with small penises that inhabit those blue uniforms.. wanna be cops who couldn't make the grade, and they show it.

And the worst thing about all this, I was good friends with a transit guard. He was a top bloke, always looked out for us on the worst nights the trains had - he was bashed severely with a female accomplice one night, and they both left the job after many years of decent service.

He was an older guy tho, able to look after himself but didn't need the bravado of being a prick to show his superiority. If they were all like him, and did their job properly, trains would be a pleasure to ride on..

Good to see people like you who think that punching on and smashing people is the right thing to do.

You're just sad.

As for your jibe at my family history, -- not worth my demise.

I know where you stand now, and there you will stay.

-- edit 2 I don't see you lasting very long here.. I'm usually accurate in my prediction about that. So.. not a great loss as far as I can tell.

reminds me of so many other people too, how odd.

Not that you would know what the video shows anyway.

You already decided he was in the wrong three minutes after the OP posted a 7 minute video.

What is your problem? Ticket tossers are not police officers. Even if someone has not payed for a ticket, they get a fine or something. The ticket tossers should of rang law enforcement instead of taking the law into their own hands. The point is ticket collectors have no right to assault anyone. Now if you don't like the way aussies go about things, go worry about something else.

I was on a tram with my girlfriend on our way out for an evening in the city. We live near a tram depot so it wasn't too much of a surprise when NINE inspectors got on. Five of them sat down. So when I was asked for a ticket I refused to show it until I, the paying passenger, was given a choice of seat as opposed to the individuals who were travelling for free.

The leader of the pack began shouting at me, when he asked another gentleman for a ticket the passenger seconded my thoughts and refused as well. I was then told that due to OHS the officers were aloud to be seated whilst we stood.

Also, their actual title is 'Revenue Protection Officer'

Revenue protection officer

It is the right thing to do when presented with a transport theif refusing to show his ticket, giving an attitude and refusing to comply with the requests of a worker who as described above, had full police powers.

It wasn't jibe, by the way. It was the truth. The scum that we removed from our land bred and their offspring continue the tradition.

There's no point in alterring your comments, I've copied the original and also highlighted it so that it is easier for the moderators to deal with your breach of the rules.

Are you serious? The bloke had a ticket and it wouldn't matter if he didn't. No one deserves to cop a hiding like that
no matter what they've done.
In 2007 I was travelling from Merinda Park on the Pakenham line to the city, I couldn't get a ticket as the machine wasn't working as per normal. So I thought I'd get a ticket at Flinders Street when I got off. I mean I still had to buy a ticket, I still had to get home right?
So I go up to an inspector and report that the machine wasn't working at Merinda Park and that I wanted an all day
ticket. He says you cant buy one, he wanted my details and that I was to be fined $200.
At this point I lose it and he gets 3 of his buddies and they try to heavy me. I'm not a small bloke and I can handle myself but I was lucky Flinders St. was crowded at 8.30 am in the morning. I think I was about to get a hiding.
Common sense prevailed and even though I tried to fight the ticket, they still fined me $200.
So for the want of a $4 ticket, I am fined $200 and that bloke at Dennis station gets bashed, and he had a ticket.
This is the future, everything privatised and policed by thugs.
Martial Law is already here.
