You do realize that "America" is a piece of land with imaginary lines that separate it from other pieces of land don't you? The American Government Sucks balls.

So that pretty much just leaves the people doesn't it?

I can only agree to disagree on this. And America is an idea not land.An experiment of an entirely new model.I didn't fight for land but the Constitution. Why I fought wasn't my idea,it was my job to win according to the laws of the Geneva convention and Western military doctrine. We caught way more than we killed.We treated them with respect when they surrendered and killed those who fought.
The Robber Barons have hijacked our government.
I told others but that is how I got the weird label before the scary one.

When the Ramones were playing in the U.K....members of the Sex Pistols wanted to see them play but had no cash. They debated on whether to sneak into the club as Sid and Johnny thought the Ramones were an American N.Y. City Gang and pondered if they would get their asses kicked if they snuck in.

They finally got up the courage and found that the Ramones were COOL. But the Pistols were very confused by how one Ramone was so adamantly REPUBLICAN and Joey Ramone was Massive.

I have travelled the world several times and met many Americans like you who expect everywhere to be just like the USA, my advice to you is don't travel stay in your great country, but if you do have to travel, with the exception of Mongolia, most countries now boast American restaurants where you can eat and get great American service, they are called McDonalds, Burger King, KFC and Pizza Hut, do enjoy You can even get a Latte at Starbucks, why sit in a French cafe, you certainly will not enjoy their Cafe Au lait or patisseries, let alone ambiance?

I can imagine how your godlike body is viewed in your long baggy shorts, white socks up to the knee and standard baseball cap! Not knowing how to eat, cutting everything up first (like a baby) and then stuffing your mouth with a fork!

Hey don't get me wrong I think the USA is a beautiful country and I just spent a lovely week with my family in Seattle.

It's just Americans like you that give the USA a bad name, I was brought up in the UK to think the French were awful people and they hated us as we hated them (brainwashed by the media in my young days) however, when I travelled to France I found them to be very nice and engaging. they treated me as I treated them, something many Americans just cannot grasp!

I remember once when I was entering Mexico at Cancun Airport and saw a queue of Americans being turned back and refused entry into Mexico because they thought they could fly into another country without passports which is something that someone from no other nation would even consider (Yes we know you can drive across the border with your driving license, that is different).

Anyway, is the USA the best country in the world, I would say to all Americans yes it is, its wonderful do not even think about leaving your borders, its dangerous out there!

However, would I ever live there? No way, I live in Asia (Hong Kong & Thailand) which both enjoy so much more freedom than Europe and North America, but people don't shout.about it like Americans do!

If you have money you can have a wonderful lifestyle anywhere in the world, fortunately I am in that position and would never choose North America however, I would consider the following for various reasons:

Australia
New Zealand
Monaco
Peru
Argentina
Panama
Costa Rica
Venezuela
Brazil
Singapore
Cape Town, South Africa
Dubai
Israel
Spain
Italy
Greece

I would even choose countries like Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam before the USA, but that is just my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own based on their own experiences.

Finally, please unserstand that the language you speak is English, because Americans take liberties and mispell English words like 'Cheque' it does not mean you are correct, after all 'Check' means something altogether different in the English language not the barstardised slang Americans use because they cannot understand the nuances of the language.

Really? The Ramones? Did they come before The Beatles or The Rolling Stones? They were 'COOL' but then so was Elvis! You don't own 'Cool' lot's of people and things are 'Cool' however, unfortunately Americans with attitudes like yours are certainly NOT 'COOL' by any means!

So, The Ramones were cool, which they undoubtedly were......Jim Morrison was cool, Steve McQueen was definately cool......really struggling now.
I really like Social D and have enormous respect for Mike Ness but I don't think I'd describe him as cool.

I'm sure there's one or two who I've missed out, still very early over here and the coffee hasn't quite kicked in yet, but I'm sure you get my gist.

Eddie Cochrane and Gene Vincent were possibly cool.

Now do you really want me to list all the cool Brits there have been, and still are?

If being cool was acompetition then the UK would be undefeated reigning champions.

What I dislike is the Hypocrisy of some of their statements just as I had to post a link which showed someone who say's they live there...and denied that the French Police and Politicians had decided to tear down Immigrant Tent Towns...which this person denied...a HUGE amount of information that they have indeed done so.

Oh...I agree that there were some VERY COOL BRITS. What I was trying to convey was when bands like the Stones with their Original Singer as well as Zep, Clapton, etc...were first getting into Music...ALL OF THEM...expressed the desire to play the BLUES...a Very...Black American Musical Style...which they all found...very COOL!

Maybe so, but those Blues players were largely unrecognised and unacknowledged in their own country and by the vast majority of their countrymen, it took a handful of Brits to develop their music and add a bit of their own style and individuality to turn it into COOL.

The whole 60's cool was British inspired, and as much as it pains me to say with maybe even a bit of continental Europe thrown in.
The Mod scene was the very epitome of COOL - black American music being the initial musical inspiration but the clothes, style, class, attitude everything was British and European.

70's cool was Bowie, Bolan and then Punk - all British driven and inspired.

80's was initially New Romantics etc then followed by possibly the coolest of all, The Casuals who took looking smart to a whole new level - Italian styling mixed with the best of British etc and a distinctly British outlook.

That in turn inspired the whole Cool Britiannia movement of the 90's.

Brits have a knack of taking inspiration from elsewhere then developing it into something new and unique and distinctly British - and cool.

British cool has permeated itself into every aspect of modern day art and culture etc.

To be British is in itself cool.

Have you ever heard of Ruby Ridge or Waco? Of course the law enforcement in the USA is so much more gentle than Police of other countries, right? Are you kidding?

You are the 'Hypocrite' here as like many Americans you do not know how to behave when a guest in a foreign land!

You refused to answer questions from a French law enforcement officer, I can only imagine the response if a foreigner in the USA were to totally ignore a police officer there LOL! I have seen the way US police treat people Taze, Mace, Beating with club or just shot, take your pick!

Although I agree with much of what you say...the concept of COOL is easily referenced in the JAZZ era as well as the BIG BAND era...the ROARING 20's era...and in the 50's when...COOL DADDY-O was a much used term.

Some may argue that Entertainment Groups such as the RAT PACK...which included the personas of DEAN MARTIN, FRANK SINATRA, SAMMY DAVIS JR....etc...were the epitome of COOL.

I personally think that much of the 40's BIG BAND MUSIC was VERY COOL!

Your army sucks, your education system sucks, your health care sucks, your police/law enforcement sucks, your government sucks and the software programming that you are famous for... sucks.

1. Your Armed Forces.
You have 3 million total soldiers, they are poorly trained in comparison to most 'civilized' or 'western' nations and only ever succeed in battles where you have blown the sh1t out of your enemies with drone strikes or Cruise Missiles. The amount of times British troops have had to save your little asses is laughable.

2. Your education system is a bleeding joke. You are all taught that US is No. 1, US is God given, US saved the world. It's a source of laughter here in Ireland and Britain. It not only lacks a HUGE chunk of world history but it gives a (more) distorted view of history than anywhere else.

3. Your health care system is another laugh. Your health care is private and when you are being told to pay a bit more so that everyone can benefit yous have a bloody fit and threat open rebellion. Way to Go.

4. Your law enforcement sucks ass. Not only is the corruption so deeply spread but the Policemen themselves are so stupid and ignorant it is scary. I never thought people could be that stupid until I met some 'officers' in the States.

5. Your Government are a bunch of war mongering, money centered, power hungry pricks. They are not only ignorant of the world economics/politics but they feel that if something isn't Americanized then it must be broken and the only solution is to send in 'The Marines - Semper Fi' (Or whatever that stupid motto is) and 'bring democracy' to some nations. 'Jealous of your freedoms'? Is that why they attacked you? What bloody freedoms? George Bush took those away with the Patriot Act and Obama has done it again with the NDAA. Your government is a joke.

6. Your software programming also sucks (for the majority). You rely on European and Asian programmers to write all your codes and then slap a 'Made in the US' sticker on it. You have a few good programmers but overall, they suck when you compare them to any other 'developed' nation.


Anyone wants to argue then feel free but I won't pull punches and I will slam EVERY thing that is negative about the Yank Government.

Er, where have you proven me wrong? Not once have you done so, all you have done is berate people who disagree with your biggoted opinions of a country you visited and did not like because they did not treat you how you expected to be treated as an American. I have met people like you many times who think that the world have to bend over and kiss your behind because you are American!

Late 70s was Kiss, Van Halen and ACDC who are Australians.if you were mellow it was Fleetwood mac.80s was Motley Crew ,Ted Nugent and Sammy Hagar,the eagles were all through that era I lost interest when grunge showed up there are a handful of songs I like after that.
I do give kudos to the brits for their brilliant contribution to Metal but Bowie never made it big.All music fads start in the US and everyone follows that.
