The difference though with auto insurance is... You don't have to have it. only if you want to drive do you have to have auto insurance. With the health insurance, I have no choice.

There is always a choice.
No one is forcing us to be uneducated in our lifestyle choices that effect our health yet.

Most Americans don't even understand what just happened to them. I still hear people rejoicing about getting free health care, when nothing could be further from the truth. The reality will set in when their insurance premiums start to creep up if they haven't already, or when their company downsizes or drops their health care all together. Then they will be forced to use this "exchange" to buy their health insurance. If anyone thinks that it will be cheaper in the long run for the average
hard working American, I have a bridge to sell you.

Who are you to define what is a big difference? If it is only a $100 then that is $100 too much IMO because that is $100 that is being taken out of my pocket because the government deems I HAVE to pay for a product from a private company or pay a TAX. It is my money and I'm sick of others deciding where it should be spent.

As for calculating future health care costs, please explain how you can be sure I won't be able to pay for them if you admit they can't be calculated? Oh, that's right, you know what is best for my family even though you don't know what our financial situation is or what state of health we are in. I'm sorry, but I'm a big girl and I can handle my own business, please stay out of it Mr. President and anyone else who thinks they should be able to dictate what I do with my freaking money.

It is this nanny government bull that makes me weep over the death of a country I once loved.

There is no provision in this law for me. I can't afford insurace, or medicaid. I don't want government health care. I simply want to be left alone to be sick and die if I choose, without having to face a punishment tax for existing as a human being in the USA.

I'm not even free to die anymore.

I wouldn't trust anything the weasel said, let alone assign more credibility to him on constitutional issues than the SCOTUS.

Maybe you would like to address this question as to the infallibility of SCOTUS.

Dred Scott.

Is it possible for the Supreme Court to screw something up?

Future courts are free to overturn this ruling if they see fit.

But until then...it is Constitutional and it is law.
So...
Was the Dred Scott decision a correct one until it was nullified by another ruling?
Was it Constitutional?
Was it morally right?

So I could get it cheaper through Obama care, BUT, my boss wont let me drop the company plan as we are a small company and our rates would go up if we lost a member. He did say that our rates will be going up again as a result of this.

Your employer can't force you to buy insurance.

So when all is said and done...you will get cheaper insurance under this bill.

But he can let me go. I do not live in a right to work state. If he feels im not doing whats best for the company ie: participating in the company ins. to keep costs down, he could let me go. I mentioned getting off the plan once once so I could get a policy for my son, and he was not happy with the request, so I stayed.

So lazy. The idea would spread like a wild fire if enough people would take a torch to it. Puppies and kittens go viral on the internet everyday why can't we do it for something good?

So if people have to pay hundreds of dollars a month for heathcare/insurance, wouldn't it just work out cheaper if taxes were higher (but still less than the monthly insurance cost) and you all just had universal healthcare?

Yes I know...

I'm the debil... (sic)

The good thing about ruling that this is basically a tax is that taxes can be repealed. If enough people are adamant about reversing this, they can vote for a Republican President and get a majority in both houses of Congress.
But with the huge influx of illegals and the Democrats insistence that voter ID laws should not be enforced or applied it seems unlikely to happen any time soon.
I never had much confidence in this government before, but now I have even less.

Yet another bald faced lie. Obama stated multiple times it was not a tax. Then they argued it as a tax and it made it through the SCOTUS based on being a tax. More lies from our beloved President and the SCOTUS turned a blind eye to the lie.

Will Obama now come clean and admit he lied?

Why would anyone back a President who has lied as often as Obama has? It's not like it's not all on tape because it is. Question is, what will he do if he wins again and is not facing a reelection? Scary stuff.

All the Polls show that the majority of us, in fact a huge majority of us were opposed. That means Obama does not give a damn what we want. All hail King Obama.
and his loyal stooges.

How and why will the cost go up across the board like that?

I guess you are right.

Anything the government gets involved with is more streamlined and cost effective in the end.

They obviously find the cheapest hammers and toilet seats available on the open market.

People who can't afford should be going on State medicaid.

If a State decides not to expand it as planned...then they are just screwing over their people.

I'm still trying to get a hold on this issue, but....

Aren't many states going bankrupt? Unlike the federal government, they can't just print more money. So almost all states are currently cutting programs and increasing taxes. Won't forcing them to expand their medicaid cause even more cuts and tax increases?

Lazy?? Coming from an occupy supporter that is a Compliment!! Thank You!!

Who in the hell is Gary Johnson? You mean the guy who first entered the race for POTUS as a Republican and switched to LIbertarian when he realized that he didn't stand a chance?

I think people like him just because he fought for the decriminalization of marijuana in New Mexico.
I do like his stance on taxes!! though.

What if you have no income? And don't want to have health insurance?

Then you should already be on Medicaid or Medicare.

And if you have no income...you won't be taxed anything because it is 1% of your income.
edit on 28-6-2012 by OutKast Searcher because: (no reason given)

If he/she lives in someone eases home it goes by household income...there are many rules...

Well, I supported anything that would make it possible to get people coverage even though this is far from perfect. The raising of the limit of coverage, where most people have a 500,000 dollar lifetime limit, is good for everyone and will stop many bankruptcies.

If the republicans come out with socialized medicine similar to Canada's medical plan I will support that 100 percent. Medical care is not supposed to be a part of greed and capitalism. If something better than this plan is not implemented in the future, our country will collapse from within. It is beneficial presently to keep people sick because profits can be made from their continued illnesses. Medicines today are getting too complicated and have too many side effects causing problems of their own. This has to end. Nature makes many medicines but we are told to keep our lawns weed free. The reasons these weeds are in our lawns in the first place is because our ancestors planted many of them there for the medical benefits they contain. I look at motive and human nature of the people who are in power to find the truth. Many people don't want health insurance costs because they know these cures for diseases that are free. Lets get them to speak up and force people to listen to the truth.

Medicine uses the staff of Hermes the deceiver as their trademark. This staph was given to Apollo's son who was killed by Zeus for over-profiting from healthcare. Maybe it's time for God to get involved again.

That is it. This is the final straw. The nail in the coffin. It has been officially ruled that liberty is an illusion.

The government can now tax you for simply existing. Yes, the USA has adopted an existance tax.

This is truely a sad day for me To be able to pinpoint the exact date that you became an outlaw. I refuse to pay a tax for merely existing!

If their method for enforcing this tax is through the yearly filing of the federal tax return, then this year was the last year I will have done it.

How Americans aren't up in literal arms over this boggles the mind. It is not a tax since we are not getting something directly for it. It is a penalty.

I wish I had the balls to enforce my second amendment rights. I have nothing left.

I know. I'm beside myself. I never thought this day would happen and it has. I use to thank God for being an American. Well, now I no longer am thankful, I'm terrified. Dangerous tax precedence has been set today. Anything goes now.
I too have " no balls"
