Sounds to me that China is doing a great job in the conquering of Australia if the Australians don't even know it's happening despite them saying openly (prior to the new found friendship) that it must be done. You are proving my point. They do have to go through Australia. Unlike some arrogant Americans might think, Australia is Americas most important ally in this part of the world. If we teamed up with China, and they would love for us to, then we could isolate Americas other allies in the region. Australia and China could dominate the asia pacific.

And like you said, Australia will be attacked first. We must end the alliance. It does nothing for us.

If Australia were invaded tomorrow by Indonesia or Malaysia, the US would just snub their noses at us down here and tell us to deal with it. The only time the US would get involved, would when their bank account or personal assets are directly attacked.

That is why I own 5 different weapons in case it does. I may die in the process, but I guarantee I won't be the only one to bight it. Can you say the same about your country if someone tries to take it over? Oh, I forgot, your country has one of the most restrictive laws in the WORLD for owning weapons.

In some ways I agree with what you've said here, you do have a point.

Australia does have very restrictive gun laws, and having lived through the Port Arthur massacre and then the gun buyback process, I can't help think it was somehow contrived. I don't know exactly how you get a nutjob to open fire and just start killing people, but the timing was uncanny with Howard coming into office (much like Bush/Cheney and 911). Perhaps some mind control ops we don't know about. I do remember watching the testimony of a former Australian SAS soldier who had a chip medically removed from the base of his scull, and he was on record as saying he believed his mind was being controlled.

I am a bit torn about the weapons issue though, as I also think that there is something to the statement "live by the sword die by the sword". For every aggressive gun toting nation that has used force to achieve its ends successfully, there must be 10 that have fallen on their sword in the process. America is a fair way down this path IMO. I don't think aggression, and wars of conquest in general, are sustainable financially or otherwise.

Having said all that, the fact that Australia is on good terms with America, and has a strong military alliance, provides us with an unparalleled level of security. The draw back is that we have to follow America into every bloody quagmire in the middle east, which is politically and socially very unpopular down here, as we know they are thinly veiled wars of conquest and occupation.

On the firearms issue, I don't think I would personally own a firearm even if I was allowed to. I'm not convinced it actually makes anybody safer. Sure if you really wanted to get hold of a gun you can, but there is something about not having one lying in every sock drawer and under every pillow in the country that makes me feel safer to be honest.

Victory, security and peace can be achieved without ever firing a bullet, Gandhi proved this philosophy against the most powerful military of the day, the British. This example seems to have been forgotten these days, and I think the world is poorer for it.

Such a complicated issue, sometimes I wish we could just all get along.

Agreed. Check this link at NEXUS, has some interesting info in regards to this incident. Basically it says somebody else with a lot of skill (military) was the perp, and Martin was a patsy.

I'm glad to see the Chinese are now posting pro-Chinese imperialism propaganda here! I am looking forward to the communist Chinese takeover of the world; a brave new world of cheap product, polluted skies and toxic waters.
