I guess I should read up on the Marines that were sent to Australia recently. I vaguely heard it on the news at the time, but didn't pay a lot of attention. The impression I get here on ATS is that we've twisted their arms to let us set up a base in Australia.

I agree with you partly, but if they're pushovers to what we, the US wants, what sort of friend are we to be taking advantage? That's the inference from saying another is a pushover...that you can force them to do your will. If they're pushovers, we're doing the pushing. I know we have to look out for our own country first, but if we're looking at friends as pushovers...what sort of friend are we?

I'm not an America basher...I'm simply saying, using your own phrase, that that sounds wrong.

We haven't done anything to Australia. The few posters here on ATS complaining are drama queens. Them sitting comfortably in their houses typing away on the internet is proof that they are doing a-okay. They just want someone to blame other than themselves for their dissatisfaction. They don't know what a ruined country is because they are so used to a sheltered lifestyle.

Anyway, America didn't get to be top dog by simply being friends with everyone. If a country will let us use their land for strategic military placement, for example, why not use it? It is their government who says ultimately decides yes or no. Therefore if they say yes, it's fair game. If the Australian people have a problem with it, then they need to start worrying about their own problems rather than blaming a country half way around the world because "we infiltrated their government" or whatever other BS excuse they can think of in order for them to sit idly and do nothing.

List of Wrongs America has done to and continues to do to Australia.

1. You involve us in your wars killing thousands of our men along the way.
2. You have actively infiltrated the Australian government with CIA operatives and have desposed several prominent primeministers - Gough Whitlam.
3. American CIA operatives are responsible for several terrorist attacks on Australians - Bali Bombings.
4. America is actively operating military bases in Australia and refuses Australians access to them!!
5. America has been actively promoting the Greens party in Australia to undermine our prosperity and wreck our economy.
6. America is jeopardizing our future by making threats to China.
7. America has refused to allow Australia to have their own nuclear weapons.
There are many more.

The average American doesn't know who the vice president of the country is. Much less support what the government does.

Almost everything that is done is hidden from the American people.

Your rage against Americans is awfully misplaced.

I certainly do not agree with alot of the things the governmembt does.
I don't agree with torture of prisoners or going into third
World countries to rip them off by doing public works that benefit only the rich.

You need to stop hating America and specify what American policies you hate.

I'd like to point out that the average American doesn't know where australia is on the map.
Much less have the inclination to rule you.

You seem to be confusing the American people with the American government.

I personally do not want to rule Australia.

I see what your saying but as long as the American people support their government than they are equally my enemy.

Since when do the American people support their government?

Where the hell do you get your news, anyway?

If you pay taxes than your supporting the American government.

If you served in the American military than your supporting the American government.

Your understanding of politics is incredibly naive and simplistic.

Schools out for summer, obviously.

Perhaps you should focus your ire on your own government, instead of blaming "America" for your stubbed toe and bad acne.

If you don't pay taxes you go to jail. Lol. No choice in that matter.

And supporting the troops. Not all of them support the CIA. I don't support a lot of what it does either.

Yes he has been met with opposition, opposition from Americans who want Australia under their Imperial control.

I meant political opposition as this site is mostly right wing.

Maybe American corporations want you under imperial control, the general American population could care less. They never even think about you unless they see a picture of a kangaroo. Americans don't think about much other than the USA nor does the average citizen want to be imperialist.

Australians have really wrong weird views about how the average American thinks.

Thousands of Aussie's are dying in US-lead wars??? Can you please back that statement up with facts please..... USA is barely losing thousands and we are the heavy presence in these wars, so i dont see how Aussie's are losing so many troops....

and all your hate for USA is based off your own little conspiracies that the CIA is dismantling your country.... haha

I understand what your saying. But Americans who think Australians are their best allies are severely deluded. There used to be a time when we called Americans our friends (pre-9/11) but that is no longer the case.
Australians have realised we are only a pawn in Americas game, and we want out.

All I can say to Americans is I hope you can restore your republic to the shining beacon that it once was.

What do you think China will do to you once we stop protecting your ass??? Do you honestly believe they will treat you like equals? Do you think they wont eventually take advantage of you? China treats its own people like total sh*t, so just imagine how they will treat some Aussie's who they dont owe anything to....

When has America protected Australia?
There is not a single war where America has rushed to protect Australia.

DING DING DING!!!!!! This is exactly true... When I think of US allies, Australia is nowhere near the top of my list and if they want out to team up with Communist China then let them, but dont come crying to us when China decides to take over your nation draining all your natural resources... and oh yea, we want all our military toys back....

Then, like it or not, you're as culpable for Australia's problems as I am for America's. By your logic...you support your government. Your government lets the US run roughshod over it you say. So by paying your taxes you support that.
