Perhaps you are right. But what you see as 'entitlements' I saw as part of the contract I signed with the federal government for my service to the country. I put the work in, they provided the benefits...
To me, entitlement is believing in receiving something for nothing. Just my personal beliefs, nothing more.

Correct, there is no state income tax in Florida. We catch it on sales tax here... especially on my food bill with two boys, they can put away some food!

What I mean by more taxes is me being idealistic and 'hoping' (beyond hope) that said taxes will be used in good honor and faith on things like education, infrastructure, and research/technology... not for paying for people that can work who choose NOT to work.

Yeah, if only that would happen. Kind of like "pork" that all the MSMs rant and rave about. But if you think about it, thats the politicians way of funding things in his/her district to benefit his/her constituents. Of course there are abuses...

Or people who pay into social security and then have the audacity to want to collect it when the time comes?

Or maybe after someone has worked and payed taxes but loses their job feels like maybe the State should help out feeding their children because they paid their taxes for years?

I really don't see how capitalism has done me or anyone I know any good at all. A person would have to be blind to not see how unregulated capitalism has been a total failure in this country. You didnt get anything out of GM and Chrysler being bailed out either, or all the money given to the solar companies that are now out of business but you paid for it.

And those "tax cuts" for the wealthy were more of tax breaks not cuts, and those are the people that sign my paychecks. When you take money from them they start cutting jobs. I know its not the best system but its the one we have. When you take those away and those people start taking hits we get layoffs and that is not what we need right now. I think what Mitt was explaining about removing some of the deductions so we can slowly get those people paying more taxes is better than just adding to their tax rate though. It sounds a little friendlier when you can say your removing deductions rather than just saying they have to pay more. And if you will remember, part of the Bush stimulus was giving people checks that they could in turn spend at local shops. Not paying for highway signs and giving money to solar companies.

And those wars you speak of were started by Terrorists. Do you not remember 9/11. Because had we not gone to war you may have gotten plenty of reminders. If Al Gore had been in office do you think we wouldnt have gone to war over that? Are you that naive?

Oh and FYI.. Those tax cuts you say you are excluded from... Look again.. They have been all over the news about to expire and they DO include you and if they expire your tax rates are going to jump emensly and your surely going to notice the tax cuts Bush gave YOU

If you pay into it, you should be able to reap the benefits of it. I never said that should not be the case.

I understand there are others out there with far different experiences than my own. I know we have good people who are desperately trying to find work when there simply aren't that many jobs to be had. As a parent, I want no child to starve.

However, people have to be held to account. Unemployment benefits are greatly abused by a large number of recipients, which drains needed tax dollars which could be put to more efficient use.

Not all conservatives are heartless, just as not all liberals are understanding.
I think you are understanding, you are more liberal than I am, but I can see where you are coming from. Capitalism is far from perfect, but as far as current governmental structures are concerned it's the best one in my opinion.

Why do you get on every thread about Obama and talk in circles. Do this for me. Go back and watch his campaign speeches where he spouts off over and over about not passing any bills till the American public has a chance to read it and he was not going to pass anything with earmarks in it.

Then jump forward to the whole Obamacare mess.. He passed that without ANYONE getting to look at it. And it has so many stupid earmarks in it that its laughable. You can talk in circles and provide no proof all you want. Its obvious you are someone who walks in and votes D all the way down the card without even looking at the name and you will argue that black is white if someone tells you otherwise. The Health Care bill was debated for an entire year. The version that was passed was available online for MONTHS before congress passed it and Obama signed it.

If you didn't read it...that's your fault. I read a lot of it during that time, I didn't read the entire bill because I had no interest to do so. But if any Congressman voted without reading it...that is their own damn fault for being lazy.

Actually most research and design of computers (and the internet and the components of computers) came from government funding and within the University system.

The retail sale of them to the public is the biggest capitalist part of "computers"...the development of it can largely be seen as a socialist achievement.

Your view of capitalism is warped. Capitalism has nothing to do with freedom or choice...it is an economic model...it can exist under total tyranny or it can exist under total freedom. So can socialism.
