The best thing for America would be a WW3 with no one helping us. Would be the black eye we need to wake up the population. We're over ran with corrupt politicians who cater to big business. No longer is America about freedom and liberty. Its now all about big business. I thing you severely degrade America's contribution to WW1+2 however. Also saying Australia cant be invaded is silly. Yes its a big land mass but you take 3 cities and you have control, or even bomb them and Aussies are so crippled they can do nothing.

As far as a WW with china, they cant win in the military spectrum, it would be more cold war era economic games. Take the top 10 navies combined and they match America, that makes America immune to invasion. Top that off with the best missile defense system and more guns per person than any other country and its an insane option to even consider invading America.

The next election will define how America moves forward, essentially boils down to we get Ron Paul or the world know America is controlled by big business and media.

Well, I've read nearly every post in this thread, and I've learned:

A. China Is Australia's friend.

B. China is Australia's future.

C. See A & B.

Seriously, Germanicus, I think you've posted that China is your friend well over a dozen times. If you say it enough, maybe it will become true (or at least someone else may join in your delusion). You have a particularly narrow view of the world, and your infatuation with Americans, though flattering, doesn't seem to be very well informed. Alas, this is your problem.

Should Europe aid the US in WW3? A preposterous question that can only have equally silly answers when there is nothing to base such an opinion on. Hypotheticals are one thing....but this is just a grade school, half baked scenario with no backdrop.
I too have met a handful of Aussies while serving in the military (SF to the other Teufel Hunden's in this thread). You don't remind me of them at all. They kept me laughing and joking the entire time we talked, and invited me to go chasing "Sheilas" with them if I ever visit their interesting land. Speaking of 'Sheilas', Australian women seemed not to mind us ungrateful, abusive Yanks that much...at least the tennis balls with their numbers on them said so anyway. I also respect the fact Australians have been good allies (see Vietnam). I don't think your countrymen that I met would like you much though, in fact, they'd probably give you five across the eyes for your comments on me and my own compatriots, but I digress.

You're clearly exaggerating which is understandable given the amount of provocation in this thread BUT... don't act as if U.S. Americans were a race or something because you're not.
You're a mixture of either our direct descendants or the offspring those descendants.

I don't know what neighbourhood you and your cousins were "rolling through" but it sure wasn't mine.
You're right about one thing though, our general populace's are quite different and I'm glad you're attitude is not representative for the average American.

Oh dear.... You just described just about every country in existance today.

Yet... as always.. it's our fault.

What gets me is this... People talk about WW3 and who should be backing whom.

Do you guys even understand that NO ONE SURVIVES A NUCLEAR WAR!

Think about it. If just what is happening in Japan alone can seriously destroy this planet... Imagine what a few REAL nukes can do.. And that's just a few. Now, imagine a whole damn war's worth. Does anyone honestly believe that anyone will survive, bunker or no bunker?

The idea of even imagining a war used against others with nukes, that alone should tell you the sane from the insane.

When I was younger, I watched this movie that came out about WW3. I think it was an english movie. That scared the hell out of me and that was just a movie. Some time ago, I had a dream about WW3 that seemed VERY real, as most dreams will and do... Now if I had to walk through all that I had dreamed in real life, I dont know of a worse horror. How anyone can even imagine this stuff and be a real human being inside, it beyond me...

It's not like I'm afraid of a nuclear war because it's not like you're going to have much time to actually see a bomb going off unless it's hundreds upon hundreds of miles from you. If you're closer... Sorry, you wont be thinking much of the light.. What comes shortly after will have your mind on "other things" and pains.

Just imagining living through the first 30 minutes of this war is disturbing to me. Seriously, think of what takes place within the first say.. 24 hours of the first launch...

1st, you will NOT have time to run or hide. I'm sure the prez wont be on TV going (in 10-15 minutes the first nuke will touch down here....) Isntead, we'll find out the hard way. We'll find out when we feel the vibration and see the light on the horizon.. or... we wont have time for a single seconds worth of thought before we're a meer, dicapating shadow on the way to the afterlife.... speeding all the way.

So, how will you know it's time to jump in your bunkers? I dont think anyone will have enough warning. It takes only minutes to have a nuke touch down from one location to the next. With the tech we have today, even faster. With nuclear sub capabilities, even fewer minutes.

Ever wonder why there are so many Asians in your country...mainly because they don't want to be in China or where ever else they came from...no freedom in one place with lots in another...not a hard choice especially if you are able to get out. How about all those who come to America...this includes Aussies...Chinese....and other Asians...its about freedom...our culture is a mixture of a number of cultures none that can readily be identified as American...thats what is great in America in that you are able to have your own culture but also freedom.

Finally, somebody with reason. I have been to austrailia and yes, there are alot of asians in the cities there. Why, just like you stated, it is a place to grow and start a new for asians. They do mining there and i have seen many a posters at trainstations at freemantle, i beleive the town was called and other stops asking for people to help farm the vast quantities of land. An example, i saw several posters say that these farmers want someone to live at the property that is furnished for you and all you have to do is farm the land and help said farmers out. When i was in sydney i was selected out, because of my accent of american. I had a wonderful time there even tho it was a brief 3 day visit. I have seen how the poor live in china. All stuck together in small areas in the cities, but in the country there, it is much different. I myself would rather live in a trashy trailer park than to be stacked in a square box with several other families using the same facilities that other families use next to you. Come on, that is rediculous. Why do they treat the people like that? They don't have to live there, but hey. Where else are you going to go, out in the street. Some choose to live this way because wages are so, so low and companies are just for profit, NOT FOR THEIR PEOPLE. Who wants to be stacked like cord wood in square boxes. The country was much better and very beautiful, tho the large rivers were pretty much a sewage dump. Lots of scenic places and the country folk were pretty nice people. I was not familliar with the customs so much and i did apologize if i was ever rude, i got no complaints. Loving people in the country. The cities were a mess in most places. You can buy your food on the streets, kind of like seatle at the market in washington a little past the ferry. I hope that things over there for the people in china get better living conditions than that what is given to them. I would want to move if i had to live in those conditions. So what better place than austrailia or america. I have ran across people who came from some of these conditions from other countries who now live in america. They feel ashamed to talk about how they lived like that in their home country. They only return to visit, see family, but not to stay.

Why does America need to be here when we dont even want them? Tell me. When they are only causing trouble and talking about a drone base. You think China likes that?

Well if America is setting up bases in your backyard then someone from Australia wants them there don't they?.....and it's likely someone with a little bit more clout than you!

And can you get any further up China's backside?.....it's becoming embarrassing mate!

Whenever someone says something like this....a specific quote comes to mind that pretty much sums it up for me.

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn't a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

You know, pretty much what the US did in ww2...

Really?... The U.S. helped several nations, including in the rebuilding and didn't ask for a cent back of the billions of dollars we spent helping...

Now the U.S. owes some of these nations money, and they are charging even interest...

As I have said in the past, perhaps it is time for the U.S. to demand these forgiven debts to be repaid WITH INTEREST, and that alone will pay off the debt plus some extra...

Apart from that we should go back to the silver/gold standard, get rid of the Feds, and every politician who was ever bought off/paid off by the global socialist/fascist elites should be imprisoned for treason and never allowed to run in any sort of governmental office.

Anyway, as for WW3, according to prophecy Europe is to fall also to the last world war. Visions from Central Europe

That was a funny page. Russia even getting past the Eastern bloc is hilarious. Let alone the rest of Europe.

Or did you think we are in the dark ages where you could just start invading enemy lines without them knowing soon enough? This is 2012. The moment Russia invades even 1 mm into Europe, the soldiers would appear in breaking news headlines across Europe and the butt kicking would be on the way within the hour.

Tell me, how far can tanks travel in 1 hour?

Like I said, they wouldn't make it past the eastern bloc.

I'm not worshipping anyone.
I know pretty well how the battles of WW II turned the war. I know about the importance of the 1940's "Luftschlacht um England" (Battle of England I think) for example so there is no need to school me about WW II Brit.
I explicitly wrote "We owe to the allied forces (including the U.S.)[...]" so I didn't say the U.S. won the war for the allied forces or anything like that.
It would simply be inappropriate for us to openly discuss who exactly beat us where or speculate what their motives were in the grand scheme at that time. We set the world on fire twice that century remember?
This is merely our role in history regarding WW II, no brainwashing.

I still stand to my statement that we are allies nowadays and as allies we will hold our part of the bargain.

allies? Germany is trying to do what you did in WWII all over again. Only this time you're waging economic war on Europe rather than physical war.

Your country can trip over infront of a giant bus and die for all i care.

Can only speak for the UK but I don't think we need US support etc, but we live in a real world and it's better to have it than not.

We've shown that we are quite prepared to stand alone, let's just hope that we never none of us are ever in that situation again.

our country is in tatters because of our relationship with the us. pull your bloody head in mate

how much longer are we going to piss away our f//////ing industry with the yanky capitalist policies? do we need families rioting in the streets before you see the country has been brought to its bloody knees

i'm sure those dead in the london bombings are glad that we had US support. and next time the terrorists come after us again for backing the US we can praise our relationship with america while blood stains our roads

Nobody needs our protection.

We simply have on occasion gone in and did the SH!T job nobody else wanted to do or cared for [Among all the other negative things we are guilty of]

like when you waged war and destroyed several democratic nations in south america, because of the threat they posed

The only 'pissing away our industry' that I see is due to the policies of successive UK governments and has absolutely nothing to do with the US at all.
We can blame them for many things but not Thatcher, Blair, Brown and Cameron's domestic policies!

At present it's Cameron and his cronies that are dragging this country backwards to some Victorian like society, how you can blame any of that on the US is quite beyond me.

Nothing like avoiding self-responsibility and finding a convenient scapegoat.

Blair should be strung up by his balls for misleading parliament and more importantly the country and for being Bush's lapdog but wtf that has that got to do with the economic misery and unecessary austerity cuts this country is facing at present?

Laughable reply.
No need to "wage economic war" on a country that abandoned its own manufacturing industry, messed up its austerity program with ill-considered budget cuts (instead of thoroughly restructuring) and messed up its benefit system (which isn't even a real system IMO).
You're barking up the wrong tree Brit, if this is an economic war then the UK is beating herself.

Europe has spent almost all of the last 3000 years fighting wars inside and outside Europe (ALMOST ALL). The idea the most blood thirsty continent on the planet would sit out a large war is a little funny. Since the balklands war ended and peace was achieved in Northern Ireland and with ETA in Spain (mostly) Europe has been at peace (the war on terror isnt cutting it for us we need a big one)

Im not too hot on the States these days but I would happily fight with them anywhere against anyone, so would the rest of Europe.

The idea, that China and US of A are going to face each other, is nonsense.

Whatever is being told on the news, is a political smoke screen. If you look carefully at China, you will see that even it's military Uniforms are a close "copy" of the west. If you go back, to around WWII, you will also find that they weren't merely a close copy, they were "exact" copies. The modern copies, are a bit of a blend between "Soviet" and "American" version.

Secondly, if you look at US politics in Afghanistan. You will discover, if you pay attention, that it is an exact copy of the "Soviet Union" policy, in earlier era.

All these nations, use the "Pentagram" as a symbol. And even if you do not believe in symbolism, the Afghanistan affair should be enough to tip you off about their "true" relations.

So, get off the "fear bandwagon" ...

Yesterday, I saw the movie "Iron skies". And I found it hilarious, to a point. It started out, quite funny, went into being a little nerdy and ended up being a typical US "mass production movie". Which, if you look carefully, is just about the same as a "Chinese mass production movie", it's there to keep up the morals of the general population.

But what struck me, when watching this movie, is the enormous "minority complex" the US has. The "Germans made it to the moon with no computer technology" - complex (Werner Von Braun), against "we hardly could drop a ball on mars with modern technoly". Combined with "we can still kick ass", just says it all.

After WWII, a lot of people helped the US. There were a lot of scientists and knowledged people that went to the US, and Russia took their "geniuses" to Russia. And today, we still have this basic technology running everything. The Russians are still using this Proton rocket, and the V2 technology is still behind pushing the shuttles into space. Perhaps, the modern Hydrogen engine, that the germans created in the 90's will turn up after 2014, but until now, the US has done little but lock it up in the vaults, since they bought the patent. Basically I think that the Americans are waiting for the older generation to "forget" that it is of german origin, before they take it into use ...

The bottom line, that I am getting at. Is that China's advancements today, are also based on them getting a lot of outside help, just as the US and Russia did in their time. But in all these cases, there is also a lot of resentment, against it. As in the case of USA, the "minority complex" shines through, and as a result, it is blocking the evolution as of current. Allowing China to catch up, but China is no less "anti" this part, than the US is. There is even more resentment against such evolution in China, than in the US of A. And these nations are united through this particular fact ... and their unity, is not going to break any time soon.

The question you should be asking yourself, is wether "Europe" will ever recover. That is the only true question, to ask ... and as of now, it's unlikely it ever will. As Europeans do not understand, that neither China, Russia or USA are their friends. And as so adequately stated by cnalterego, Europe hasn't recovered the loss of it's scientists. And is still helping the US, in keeping their own scientists down.

Any European, with a brain ... would stand far apart from such a war. And "help" the US loose. The Bermuda triangle Russia-USA-China is bad for Europe.

The only problem is ... it's not going to happen, because they are the axis of evil ... they make up the modern "Republic" of the Earth.

If the USA gets in a war against China, which is looking more and more likely with each day, then Russia will step in to defend their allies, in which case Europe will join America's side and try pressure the Russians politically.

WWIII isn't a question of 'if' but 'when' and the US seems dead set on starting the war so they can strip China and Russia of their natural resources (Caucasus in Russia, South China Sea in Asia) and keep their stranglehold on the world economy intact.

Here is a few reasons:

1. The American ABM (Anti Ballistic Missile) shield in Eastern Europe is a threat to Russia's ICBM (Inter- continental Ballistic Missile) capabilities and could be used to shut down any retaliatory strikes they may employ in event of war.
2. The US are deploying another ABM in Asia to limit China's power and to reinforce/embolden the smaller Asian nations who have claims to the Oil rich South China Sea.
3. The US is attempting to gain a monopoly in the Middle East. After arming 'freedom fighters' to overthrow Mubarak, Gaddafi they have given weapons to Syrian and Lebanese rebels who are hell bent on destroying Assad. They are also pushing for war against Iran, a long time ally of Russia and staunch anti-Western power.
If Syria and Iran falls the US will have control over the vast oil reserves and gaining enough reserves to threaten Russia's and China's economic strength.
4. The US has deployed 4,500 Marines to Australia and plan on sending 6 Aircraft Carrier groups to patrol the Pacific/Asia by 2020, they have also armed Taiwan and are giving constant military aid to Asian nations that claim sovereignty over swathes of the South China Sea.

These are just a few of the many reasons why war is inevitable.

Here is a list of the Europe's main strength (Germany, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Britain and Greece)

Naval Strength: 933
Air: 7,000
Land Based Weapons: 88,000
Active Troops: 1,380,000

United States:

Naval:2,300
Air: 18,200
Land Based Weapons: 56,000
Active Troops: 1,475,000

Russia:

Naval: 230
Air: 2700
Land Based Weapons: 91,000
Manpower: 1,200,000

China:

Naval: 970
Air: 5,100
Land Based Weapons: 47,500
Manpower: 2,285,000

Make up your own mind about how this will go down.
