As i said, i do not agree with it, Shooting them would be far easier to do. Why they do not is beyond me.

Either way, supply and demand. And if not that, they would have to be killed off a bit anyways to keep the ecosystem running. Note: They do not club baby seals, clubbing baby seals is illegal, they have to be of a certain maturity in order to be clubbed. Do i agree? # no. Does it have to happen? Yes.

So you're up in arms over one animal. What about the others that this animal would damage if it were to get out of hand? (which it is), Are you willing to sacrifice 50, or even 100 other species to save one?

Ammo costs money man! a club is a one time purchase! That's why they don't like to use guns. Slaughter houses use a Spike gun on cows and pigs for just this purpose. It sends a large spike through the brain and then retracts for the next use. Just costs electricity. Bullets are expensive and costs natural resources.

This is all a bit stereotypical. The main proportion of people are overshadowed but the acts of the few. Many other countries have similar practices, and often unsustainably. I'm and aussie, i hunt pigs with dogs, shoot roos by the bucket loads, and most often dont get a clean kill so need to get a lump of wood or rock, and put it out of its misery. My thread is very relevant. You have to resort to using my personal beliefs to try to close the thread. My facts are from countless Animal rights groups in and around North America.

If you go to GOOGLE CANADA and type "average looking Canadian" into it and then go to the pics section about 6 lines down this pic is there. I chose that pic as it is relevent to the thread. To dumb looking guys who really have no clue. They are harmless in looks but who know what they may be capable of.

those seals will continu to be butched for their meat and fur

If i could become vegetarian .. i would
but has long they sale meat in the groceries
animals will continu to be killed
and nobody would want to waste any meat after a kill
to respect the animal not being killed for nothing

but if this is nature and we are at the top for the moment ..
we should try to find ways to be painless for the animal
and pay our respect to each one killed with a little prayer at the end

The OP is not American, so casting aspersions against the US is just stupid.

The Gulf of Mexico is not part of the Pacific Ocean and only linked to it through the Atlantic Ocean by three routes, the Northwest Passage in the Arctic, Cape Horn at the tip of South America, and the Panama Canal. You can hardly blame the BP spill for any problems in the Pacific.

Seal clubbing is horrible and disgusting. I'm sure no one here would dispute that.

However, as an American who lived in Canada for 7 years I can easily say that Canadians are some of the friendliest, kindest, most caring people I've ever met. Interested in their country and far more concerned about what is going on in the world than Americans.

You're belligerant and ignorant to paint an entire country for one atrocity that most of them protest. But obviously you just hate Canadians considering your hateful posts about them in other threads. Like the one that got modded as an off-topic post in the Vitamin C thread yesterday.

Yes I generalized but look at he countless threads of people on here always generalizing about every damn topic. Gun crime in the US ban guns and Americans are stupid etc, people blasting all government because of a few in power another generization, people saying cops (i am one of them, not a cop, a person who has bashed cops) are bad because some beat people, I have seen a LEO on here trying in vein to defend his profession while taking a lciking from the countless people who like to gang up on people on HERE.

Canada is becoming a place where profound idiots addicted to cash and drugs are being greenlighted by authorities to abuse the environment however they want.

If it's not seals being cowardly killed by the thousands, it'll be a bunch of idiots working in suburban construction projects, tar sands, logging, etc. If stops aren't being imposed on them, that'll keep going on forever. They'll only stop when they are surrounded by a DESERT and have to import all their food from foreign countries.

Then they'll move to some other planet put their meaningless flags (corporate logos) on it, then... more parasiting!

I find the OP more scary and disgusting than i do the seal clubbing and the seal clubbing turns my stomach. How can a person hold so much hate contempt and be so twisted is beyond me.

there have been many protests,many letters and petitions sent to ottawa.
activists have even gone to the extreme by pouring dye on the live seal pups fur(non toxic of course)rendering the pelt useless!
i for one don't agree with this 'hunt' it is brutal.
and unnecessary,and fake fur nowadays is pretty convincing!

the reason they 'club' the seals is so they dont wreck the pelt with bullet holes,or knfe or spear holes.
more $ for a perfect pelt! less $ for a holey one! makes sense from a 'buyers point of view'.
the next thing is these people who are doing the hunting,this is there only source of income for the whole year!
there is no work up there for them,and if you say 'just move then',well thats just silly.
that is there home,and generations of their families have been doing this forever,its all they know.
even if the could move south,whole communities wouls have to come 'en masse' due south,where there are no jobs anyway! (trust me,iknow theres no work!)
plus,a while back,the government encouraged the hunt citing that these seals are hurting the fishing industry by depleting fish supplies!
so,please don't think that a buncho drunken canucks pile into a pick up truck and go a clubbin!
it doesn't work that way. you need special permits,and only a handful are handed out.
of course there is poaching,but that happens all over the globe.

But, 400,000 seals clubbed in one year and the population is still more than healthy??? If they outlawed seal hunting for 5 years..., they would have to start hiring people to control the seal population.

Personally I don't really agree with "most" seal clubbing, and I won't watch video or look at pics of it...But a real oldschool mountain Canadian that does actually wear muck-lucks and travel via dogsled would die if not for seal meat/and hides and fat (heck they use like every little bit of the animal). That's pure hunting right there, nature at work. I say good on them for thier way of living which is alot less harmful to the earth than the majority of people.
