McVeigh was not a patriot, a hero or worthy of looking up to. He was a terrorist, a coward and a piece of scum. You need help. Get some

Innocent people got killed and hurt.

I dont understand why terrorists think that killing innocent people will help them win support for their cause. Its insane and counter productive. I know from reading The Turner Diaries how he may have justified it. There is a chapter where the an Oklahoma style bombing takes place. It is very similar to what happened. It talks about how the characyers felt about the innocent victims.

You cant kill people.

I am from Oklahoma CIty, and was there the day of the bombing.

I can't post my response due to forum rules. But it starts with F and ends with YOU., I vaguely see the point you are trying to make, and yet still I come to the same response.

I'll explain my support for this thread. One, I didn't realise this had already done the rounds on ATS and Two, I wasn't supporting the actions of a civilian bomber but rather the idea of...

How do YOU get your government to stop? In other words, they do in reality inflict much more suffering than this one incident.

Obviously killing almost 200 civilians like McVeigh did is not the answer but I suppose the right mind, the right circumstances and environment and quite probably, the right medication, well...we've seen it so many times before and on both sides. I probably have half the facts by the wrong end but I think you can see my point nonetheless.

In a way he was a suicide bomber, but an own-goal scorer in the hope to possibly, and deludingly avoid further bloodshed and war in the future?

I know absolutely nothing about the case or the man apart from what went past briefly on UK news back in the day but I do remember there being quite the question mark as to his true connections and motive since the events took place. I even came across one post (not ATS) that claimed he was a Freemason. Lone wolf or just a dog following orders...? It's certainly a weird and unique case, in any case.

Just tell me what McVeigh or any other terrorist accomplished by killing people? What wonderful thing happened as a result of a terrorist attack? NOTHING. Just dead people upon more dead people.

If you want to enact change, it takes lots and lots of people speaking up and speaking out. Peaceful protests. Look at what Martin Luther King, Jr. and Gandhi and Jesus Christ accomplished, and they didn't harm a single soul.

You don't have to bomb people to get noticed.

Nobody ever talks about the bombs that were found INSIDE THE FEDERAL BUILDING and mentioned on numerous MSM reports throughout the day of the bombing. I WONDER WHO PLANTED THOSE? That was all hushed up so everything could be focused on Timothy.

The United States Government is the world's leading terrorist followed closely by the Israeli Government.

I see your point. But there's lots of governments that have killed innocent people. Why single out the US? Oh wait I know why, because that's the common theme on ATS.Bash the US.

No arguments here, nightstalker. Regardless I'm still curious about where/why he would draw the line. But a lack of response from him so far is making me believe this was just a rant and that he has no interest in a discussion.

Timothy was a piece of trash that killed innocent men, women and children. The only thing he deserves is a one way ticket to hell which was punched back in 2001.

I do not care. My opinion still stands, and maybe you should educate yourself a little more before supporting something you claim you know nothing about. Even if there are unidentified co-conspirators, people on the inside or whatever, if this is found to be true and those people identified, they should also suffer the same fate as McVeigh.

He killed the very people he vowed to protect.

I said support for the thread, not support for his deeds. There is a difference but no worries. As for educating myself, I'll get on it right away!

Yes, it was pointed out to me, sorry I missed it. I still find the idea (not him in particular but the many who have done similar deeds) interesting. Not because I'm looking to learn, or rather I am, why they did what they did. I'm probably making things worse and digging my hole even deeper. I'll quit while I'm losing.

YOU don't stop a gov't. One person's beliefs, or even the beliefs of a small group (no matter how right they are) does not allow them to speak or act for the majority. We The People can stop a gov't when we've had enough. United, we can all agree to stop paying taxes. No money, the gov't crumbles. We can stop working, thereby bringing the whole country to a standstill.

This will happen. Maybe not as soon as some would have it, but this is because we are a very tolerant people. There is a point, however, where sheep can suddenly transform into wolves. History has proven this time and time again.

The staff is reviewing complaints related to this thread and an older thread along the same lines. Here's the other thread, which dates back to 2009:

Timothy McVeigh Deserves a Statue of Honor

I don't think we need more than one thread on the subject, and since the OP already posted in that thread, this seems like unnecessary duplication.

On that note, I'm not sure we even need one thread along these lines, and am concerned about the large number of ad hominem attacks appearing in both threads. We may close the other one, too, but we're working that out.

In any case, whatever the subject, and whatever our opinions may be, let's please remember to express them politely, and try not allow ourselves to succumb to provocation.

As always, if anyone disagrees with my closing this thread, please send me a private message and I'll be happy to discuss it.
