Considering that Vietnam was a war to help South Vietnam and stop the communist advance, it was very much a failure, considering Vietnam turned out to be communist as the North won

Regardless, the USA still lost the Vietnam war, as Communism took over Vietnam at the time. Yes, while it still is a Communist country in theory, it has gradually shifted away from a fully communist state.

Vietnam was a testing ground for U.S. Tech. It never reached any form of real War status until the Communist North walked away from the Peace talks and the USAF hit the North Vietnamese Capital with B-52 strikes. This QUICKLY brought the North back to the table and a peace was established.

I have relatives who died in Nam and my family is Pissed Off that we did not attempt to Win the War. We could have...but LBJ was a Micromanaging pain in the Ass...and Nixon got us out.
