Thank you for sharing. You are obviously a serious mathmetician or physicist. I'm an engineer and musician and only can scrape through the surface of what you're trying to say. I can't believe there are people so uninformed that they would critisize you like thy have. What a shame! I'm going to get my college books out right now and study the Fibonacci Seriesm maybe the McLauren Series as well, and convergent and divergent series!!!

Wow, the ignorance in this post is astounding! This isn't "kooky" mathematics. A couple of the points are a stretch, but the majority of what is contained in this thread has already been established as valid. I wasn't going to respond to this thread, but I feel I have a duty to eliminate ignorance.
I remember the first time, when I was younger, I actually worked out the ratio of the Fibonacci numbers, and was surprised to see they all approached the same number. I didn't know then what I now know, but it still made an impression on me. Mathematics is one of my many hobbies, and numbers and their correlations are actually quite stunning.

This reminds me of the movie where Christopher Walkin is playing Gabriel, who has gone rouge. In it he is sitting on the steps of a school on an Indian reservation talking to the children. He even has a trumpet with him
As the teacher herds the little ones inside he tells them " Study your math, children! Math is the key to the Universe!"
Truer words have never been spoken.

Interesting thread! Not sure I agree with all the theories, but do love the numbers and geometric aspects of it. I'll have to do some more thinking on the theory part to decide where I stand and appreicate the opportunity to delve into it.
Although my background includes math, physics, chemistry, education and the like , geometry is by far my favorite... my first great love, so to speak
.... and the grumpy lil guy just makes himself look like a fool, so ignore him

Yeah, it is like how we all went through school knowing that 3, 6, and 9 are numbers that are just always infinite. .333, .666, and .999. Math isn't something we created, its something we discover. Nikola Tesla said himself, "If you only knew the magnificence of the 3, 6 and 9, then you would have a key to the universe." Really mind numbing stuff. There is even a book called, How the World is Made and it goes into sacred geometry, pi, phi, fibonacci, etc.

Just wondering, do you remember authoring this particular thread? www.abovetopsecret.com...
Just curious
It was truely heartwarming and inspirational... I'm curious as to why the posting we're seeing here, on this thread, seems to be from a totally different person.
Is there something wrong that we can perhaps help with?
Good luck and if you need an ear, please, feel free to reach out.edit on 25-5-2012 by PurpleChiten because: (no reason given)

You know... I did a little background check myself and almost asked the exact question but I thought it be better to just let things be. I especially like the post he wrote on that thread:

Want to see something else really cool? Take any number divided by 9, you get that number repeated to infinity
1/9= .111111111... 5/9= .5555555555...
Your homework is to find out WHY!

Just read your link... he does seem a little cranky. Dern, that link made me tear up!
Thanks for showing that this person may just be having a bad day.

Hm, I have always been interested in the number 9. I always do this thing where I take numbers and I consolidate them by addition until they turn into a single unit, on a scale of 1-9 (possibly 0) Any number plus 9 equals that number. 5 + 9 = 14 (1 + 4 = 5), 7 + 9 = 16 (1 + 6 = 7). Who knows?!

Thank-you so much for this post - amazing and thought provoking stuff.
I am not in the same intellectual league as the OP and his respondents, including Mr OccamAssassin, Hell, I had to read parts of your post 3+ times before some of it sunk in
There appears to be a maths and esoteric quality to this "reoccurrance and commonality" Fibonacci thing so:
Can one of you "Sheldon Coopers" out there apply this to the Zodiac?
Once again thank-you.

That's actually the approach I have seen the people who are adherants of numerology take. I've looked at it before but lost interest, but it may be something that you really enjoy. You should do a search on it (numerology), it may really interest you!
