It seems many of us here have noticed this lately. I drive a lot and I've notice that birds will practically dive in front of the car right as I've approached them. Enough in the last week to make a mental note of it. I've pointed it out to a friend and the same day we hit a small bird as it flew right into the trucks grill. After you made this thread and I've read many of the other accounts here I am now convinced something is amiss.

Get the word out and ask your friends and family if they've noticed this also. Something serious could be about to happen with 'ole Mother Earth.

Well, I dunno...I was out in the marsh at daybreak both Saturday and yesterday morning, just me and the camera. All I can say is that there was nothing unusual to report (And I'm out there every chance I get...). The critters, birds, and insects were their normal selves. As for at the house...all the critters are behaving there...

Interesting animal stories. I will add mine to the mix.

I live way out in the middle of no where in rural Maine. I am always seeing wildlife in my yard, but they disappear back into the woods when I step outside. This afternoon I was planting shrubs. I had my back to the woods digging a hole when I heard loud snorting behind me, a few stomps, then another loud snort. Wasn't sure what it was so spun around holding my shovel like a baseball bat and came face to chest with a moose. I stumbled backwards, He snorted and turned, slowly made his way back into the woods. I've seen a few moose in my yard, but never had one sneak up behind me like that.

South east Michigan, birds sitting in the road to where I also slow down now because one scared the crap out of me the other day. My dog is barking at nothing and my daughter has comment numerous time of him acting weird. At work the other day 3 ducks came waddling up the drive and passed 3 of us sitting on picnic table 5 feet away. Also when I snuck out for a smoke there were 4 birds sitting on roof above me. They didn't even flinch the whole time I was there staring at them. Also no animals have gotten in to my garbage cans the last week, not that I'm complaining but I've had a opossum in the trap and raccoon still in there and vice versa. Frogs in retention pond still serenade me to sleep tho!
I think they just getting accustomed for a world with out us

I was just having this conversation Friday with my co-worker as we car pool and birds all of a sudden will fly directly in front of the car barely missing being hit, today on the drive home from work I had to slow down or I would have hit at least a few of them, as they seemed completely disoriented as to their distance from my car. I said to my co-worker, what the he@@? Have the birds all gone postal? Then I read this thread...maybe they have.

robins have always been suicidal. they play chicken with the front end of my car all the time. i havent noticed that the animals have changed but i have. my sleeping habits have changed over the last year. i was always early to bed and early to rise. but the last year my wife and i both stay up late at night now and we sleep late into the day. it has happened within the last year. i also noticed i am tired all the time. i stay up for a couple of hours then i lay down and take a nap then get back up again. ive never been like this in all my life. ive been to the docs and he says im fine. its something to do with the changes in the earth as near i can figure. if i go to bed early i will sleep until about 2am and then im awake til daylight and then i fall back to sleep. the way everyone describes the animal behaviour about wild animals coming up to you now... two things came to mind.

1. has our energy patterns changed because the earths energy patterns are changing

2. or do the animals know a cataclysmic event is coming and they are saying good bye to us?

Deer have always been like that in my neck of the woods. I went fishing one night about 4 years ago and had one walk right up on us. My sisters ex put his hand out and the deer jumped up and the top of his head hit his hand. Another time I was playing the guitar up at the park in the middle of the night
, by myself and a dder just walks up to me while I am playing. I have pictures I going to try to get to upload here. A deer was sitting in the middle of the road at like 3 in the morning I get a call from a friend telling me to bring him some blankets cuz he done found an injured baby deer and meet him on so and so road. He kept it and nursed it back to health at his house. I have pictures of the 3 close to 4 foot tall deer laying next to, sleeping with and with them kissing each other. He eventually let it go cuz it though it was a dog and wanted to get up on the brand new leather couches. Needless to say those who know about deer knows what happened next, deer got picked up and tossed outside. Its an outside domesticated deer. Walks up to the door every morning and night STILL wanting food and water so it dont got to go out and look for the good stuff.

Just and interesting story I thought I would share. Always like reading your posts brother. Votin you for president. haha. Write in ballot.

I'm in SE MI as well and have noticed the same. I caught me a huge racoon in the trap the other night and spared his life and he was friendly with me. I also witnessed a crow attacking a hawk for about fifteen minutes the other day as it was trying to get at her babies in the nest. Birds are deffinitely coming closer as well. Two months ago I kid you not I had a male pheasent come up my porch and peck on my front door. I walked out and he just hung out and walked around the yard with me. When my wifes friend pulled in the driveway he ran to her car like a dog. I think he may have been farm raised and then released but it was cool.

OP. My dogs have been acting a little strange off and on lately. I trust there feelings more than my own. I believe animals have much more of a connection to nature than we do.

Well Jethro, granny would be proud. Do you think you might be able to get some possums for lunch?

But seriously, I think you're right. Something is effecting them, kinda making them lazy or sick whatever causes them to just sit there. I have noticed that too, and killed a few by them just sitting there when I'm driving towards them. And the dogs are acting funny too, howling for no "apparent" reason, and birds chirping all night long etc.

whoa you too?

ill be sitting in the car, approaching the birds, 3 feet, 2 feet, NOTHING, 1 foot bird: caw?

1 centimeter bird: oops better fly away

Maybe its trying to tell you something....

"IM A LIVING THING IN THE ROAD. SLOW THE **** DOWN PLEASE."

whump

"Huh that critter didnt move!! hes weird! oh well!!"

Maybe YOU are the one that is weird for not slowing down for the living creature in the road.

I'm in Colorado in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and honestly the only thing I have noticed this year is an increase of animals. More stray dogs than normal, lots of wild rabbits, birds up the yingyang. The birds I noticed will be chirping when it is dark out sometimes though, that's a little odd. I saw two really pretty mallard ducks today in someones front yard. I have chickens now and they seem just as dumb as ever. So I guess the only odd thing is the quantity of animals, they seem to like my nook of Colorado. No wait, I lied.. I have seen elk and deer coming further into town as well as a bunch of big horn sheep where normally it's hard for me to spot a big horn sheep. They kind of blend into the mountain sides. LOL

On February 28, 2001, I was at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle WA for a school field trip when a 6.8 Magnitude earthquake struck. The section of the Zoo we where in was a side section were a main gas line ran under my feet. Because we were standing over a main gas line, the earthquake was amplified to +-.3 7.5 Magnitude. I was fortunate to sustain no injuries to myself or my group members.

The reason I am sharing this is because the OP is 100% dead on with the animals predicting environmental events within a reasonable time frame. 5 Minutes before the earthquake, our group and I noticed extreme odd animal actions. Minutes before the earthquake, we heard animals across the park screaming, yelling and howling the entire duration leading up to the quake. At 12 years old, we became very frighten at all the noise and commotion the animals were making and our group was forced to stop where we were located to figure out what was going on. We stopped next to a pen of foxes that were trying to dig holes and put their heads in the ground while howling/screaming. Once they put their heads all the way into the ground they lay down crookedly and wouldn't move. The cage farther down you could hear monkeys howling very loudly while banging on things.

After the quake, all the animals acted normal again and we were ushered out of the zoo. It was a real eye opener for me though on how much the environment really does affect the animals around.

North/Central/Eastern Kentucky, haven't been outside much today due to storms. My normally ADHD cat has slept all day, but I attribute that to weather. The older cat that normally sleeps all day also slept all day

There has been a LOT of roadkill out over the past few weeks, but I attribute that to springtime. It doesn't really seem to be any more than a normal spring. .
Did notice/experience a strange bird thing. Had one that, day after day, would come to the same place to build a nest and every morning, I'd remove it (ventilation fan), the next day, more stuff, removed it, next day, more stuff...it just never really quit until I put up a screen over the outside on Friday and haven't been back to check on it since.
That's all I've got. Doesn't mean there hasn't been anything, I just haven't really been very observant but will see what tomorrow brings.

I'm in the "animals are acting strange" club too, lol.

Birds are hitting the picture window more than ever which is odd because I have decorative clings on them, also snakes , bunnies , chipmunks , squirrels , toads, various birds too , are very friendly and not easily frightened .

Have also noticed the birds playing chicken with my car! and now thinking about it there is more roadkill as well.
As far as me , things just feel off kilter ,my gut tells me something is off concerning the rotation of the earth , nothing to back it up but that's what i feel an I can't ignore it, the weather is just now starting to match the time frame it belongs in although not quite enough from memory.
Not that this has anything to do with anything but I get a lot of high pitched noise in my ears more than ever and am having a problem with bumping into things and veering off to the left when I walk. Nothing medically wrong , I recently had a brain scan due to a swollen gland that stayed swollen too long near my ear. Now that could be inner ear stuff..I'm sure it is.
See lots of wasps or hornets , hardly any bees. A lot of strange happenings if you ask me but i suppose we shall see.

Replying to my post since I cannot edit. In my post I mentioned my three dogs weren't really acting out of the ordinary. Well that kind of changed after today. Our 8 year old dog is extremely mild mannered. Never barks and never gets worked up. You never even know she's there, she tends to sneak up on us sometimes. Anyway, she has been walking around whimpering all day. She will pace and whimper, and I'll ask her what's wrong, and she just wags her tail and lies down. Then pretty soon she is doing it again. She's not hurt or anything because she acts a specific way when she is hurting.

Also, our 8 month old puppy is a bird dog. He is CONSTANTLY chasing and pointing robins in our back yard. Our backyard is always full of birds and it seems odd to me that they haven't learned by now that he is going to chase them. After reading about a couple of posters say the birds are letting cats catch them, I think I will hang out in back tomorrow and see how the birds are reacting to being chased.

A poster also mentioned not seeing any bees, only wasps. I've been the opposite, I've seen way more bees than I personally like. I live in NW Missouri.

i have been noticing that birds wait for cars to almost totally ****ing run them over until flying away.

Ive been having the same problem with the birds in my area recently to. (North Texas). It could be a group, or just 1 or 2 birds sitting in the road, looking directly at my car, and dont move until im about a foot away from hitting them.

It's springtime and mating season, so yeah, the birds will be acting strangely especially given the weather patterns are off this year. Mockingbirds will sing all night long, one different bird song after another. They are LOUD, too.

But that said, my dog has been barking for no reason whatsoever. I'm pretty sure at this point that he's hearing a low frequency noise that I can't. He acts like he does when there's fireworks being set off, or someone at the door.

And I've been hearing a high pitched noise that seems to originate in the sinuses at the back low part of my skull, never noticed this before.
