We do have proof that there is some actual history within the bible, but it's mixed in with the myth. With that being said, it's probably more like a great work of science fiction writing. We could, for example, write a book about WW2 and then throw a messiah figure in there, and achieve the same historical accuracy as the bible.

And what actual history is in the Bible?

You need to understand that the bible is not like a donald duck book as you say, it is more powerful to those who believe.

Regardless whether I am a beilever or not, that is how it is.

OP,

Your original post was a blanket statement followed by an opinion. You did not explain how you came to your conclusions or what sources influenced your thinking.

Unsubstantiated blanket statements do not a thoughtful thread make.

Then, since you seem completely convinced of your opinion, what is the point of this thread? You decline to engage in intelligent discourse, you will not substantiate your claims....

Which leads me to the conclusion this is a deliberate attempt to provoke anger. Very poor taste.

There you have it. The bible is just a fiction book.

Go and give your statement to
1) The elite
2) Every president of the USA that has gladly created 'Wars and rumours of wars'
3) Every US grunt monkey gladly turned into radioactive cannon fodder
4) Every monkey that supports wars against any country in the middle east
5) Every monkey scientist making scalar weapons thus producing 'earth quakes in divers places'

Go on, I dare you.

Prove that the Bible is a story and stop ALL WARS TOMORROW at the NATO Summit.

Go On, Do It.

You won't because you are afraid thus proving that athiests possessed by nephil spirits will kill you instantly because the Bible is true.

Stupid Troll.

I could tell the whole world that I am right in my belief and they should follow my belief but that will make like a christen. Also, as seen here on ATS almost no one would believe me and I am taking the risk of getting shot by a religious nut.

Religous nuts obey the rule "Thou shalt not commit murder".
You have nothing to fear from true Christians.

Go ahead. Go to the NATO Summit and say 'Stop Obeying this Book of Lies, that states that you monkeys constantly create "wars and rumours of wars"'.
The athiest demonstrators will support you. The secret services will kill you.

If the Bible is a lie, officials will think 'hey this guy is right. Lets stop fighting each other'.

Go on, do it.

You will become a world hero tomorrow for bringing peace to the world.

Maybe you will survive a shot to the head, just like the anti-christ does. lololol

Thats why we have the great field of Archeology TODAY. Substating many of the claims found in the Bible.
Temple of Jerusalem, Jericho, James Ossury, Synagogue and House of Peter, King Davids Palace, Mount Sinai, Mount Ararat.

Hard to argue with facts.

Exactly, the historical places do exist, which is the point I'm trying to make. The mythology, however, is just myth and has yet, if it's even possible, to be proven.

Religion is also our source of morals.

Would you rely entirely upon science instead?

Napalm, bioweaponry, atomic bomb, rail gun, all sorts of stuff science has given us...and every new discovery is examined for possible destructive uses before anything else.

Yep, we totally have the morals to do without religion.

How can you make this statement when the entire premise of this thread is from a closed minded perspective?

How can you make this statement when the entire premise of this thread is from a closed minded perspective?

Well, for all effects and purposes, it is, in fact, a Book, a written or printed work of fiction or nonfiction, usually on sheets of paper fastened or bound together within covers. And there is a lot of fiction in that particular book.
So what is closed minded about that, if I may inquire of you?

Dismissing the entire book as a work of fiction is in fact a flawed premise...

And its not just one book...

Not to mention the many historical/archaeological references within said "book" that can be found within the areas mentioned.

Yes many of the "stories" are likely fiction... but there is also much truth within the books of the bible...

Perhaps there is some fiction within it... but it has a base of reality

It is actually one book. I pick it up, and it is in one bound cover. I throw it in a fire, and it's one book burning.

And I am one happy person.

Other than that, none of the dialogue (which is the most quoted aspect of the Bible) can be proven to have happened. And really, no one gives a **** about the people and places. Only that the stuff was really said.

And we can't prove it was.
