It is not the federal government's job to feed America
House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement on President Obama’s budget speech today:
“Our country faces serious economic and fiscal challenges. Americans continue to be disappointed that the president is shrinking from those challenges rather than displaying the courage needed to solve them. Instead of reaching across the aisle to enact the changes needed to restore America’s prosperity, the president has resorted to distortions and partisan pot-shots, and recommitted himself to policies that have made our country’s debt crisis worse. He’s so unserious about our country’s problems that he’s offered a budget that failed to garner a single vote in the U.S. House of Representatives or the U.S. Senate. And his own party leadership in the Senate hasn’t passed a budget in more than 1,000 days.
“House Republicans, led by Chairman Ryan, passed a responsible budget that would help put Americans back to work, protect our seniors, close President Obama’s massive budget deficits, and do ‘all of the above’ to address high gas prices. It makes the tough choices the president refuses to make to address the staggering deficits and debt that are slowing our economic recovery, costing jobs, and threatening to destroy the American dream."

Why is it that people have been warning for years that the Republicans only care about money, yet people still vote for them?? Americans have cut our own throat out of stupidity.

Honestly, there are way to many people getting food stamps that shouldnt. I was in line last week buying stuff for my 7 year old and me, and the person in front of me was buying steaks with food stamps, and paid cash for $150 worth of hard liquor. And as I left the store, there they were, loading up a brand new Mercedes SUV in a handicap space, with no handicap plate or sticker.
Mean while I scrape by on hamburger helper hoping gas prices dont go up so I can still pay all my bills and rent.

Is someone paying you to say this? I keep hearing this same generic story, though similarly unconvincing (and almost like a copy) every single time.

This really shows what kind of anti American scum we have running our government. No money to help Americans but we can spend billions killing people who never did anything to us just so we can protect those who spy, steal and murder Americans. Everyone of these traitors need to be lined up and shot.
While I can empathise with your anger, shooting people is not going to solve the current problem.

The answers are out there, people. When the government fails you, you have to step up to the plate. This is being done by people in cities all over America. Get involved, and leave the myopia of the military industrial complex behind. That problem, like all problems, will eventually solve itself.
I have been less than impressed with a lot of your posts....except this one. Well said. Time to get off your buns and make it happen. Thats what this country has always been about. somehow in the last 20 years everyone forgot.

Care to share how much it costs to build a greenhouse? Care to tell me where I can find the free land to build it on? Care to tell me how I can avoid taxes on the property since I don't work? I couldn't even afford to build a closet sized version of one. Even if I could, it's not going to provide me with enough food for my 4 children for a year. Great idea... I get it. But you have to have money to start it. Where are people on food stamps supposed to get this money?
