Just like with Christians, there are some very nice, kind, loving atheists, and there are mean, hateful, spiteful atheists. The OP's post was an example of the mean, hateful, spiteful Christian.

Maybe I should have made clearer , the radical misconceptions which various religious authorities have foisted upon those willing to beleive or take part in ceremonial style worship etc , are in fact to cover up far _worse crimes by far than what the average atheist is capable of .

An atheist may be a fool , but Christian leaders remain a more than legitimate target . Fairer to put the sights on them .
However when atheism is being propounded by Hollywood actors/league of youtube atheist crusaders , it is actually a target .

There is a video , well more than several outright offensive atheist material , one called "The Bible Is Bullsh#t" with Penn and Teller . = youtube

I dont want to link it.

May I suggest that you have your head stuck so far up your arse that you are blind to everything around you? That's all I have to say about your posts because there's nothing else 'to' say.

Yet I see most hatred coming from your side. I have never ever started a thread attacking religion. I only join in when people like you spread hatred, generalize and spew you push your bull# believes in non religion related threads.

And why do I choose to be an Atheist??? Asking this question clearly shows you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. You dont choose to be one, you are one because of LACK OF BELIEF in a deity/God.
We atheists don't delude our self and live in a fantasy like you.

I think its a clear case of miserably negative , even in capitals.
You claim your ignorance as if you owned it - a real atheist , real hate in his heart. You say you dont choose it - oh dear oh dear , then you are a wet rag eh ?

There is not time for much hate in my life , but enough for forgiveness happily .

An Atheist will hate the believer for exactly as long as the believer hates the atheist. Once love is shown without expectation to change, then love is returned and true faith is found.

It works like this too...

A ___________ will hate the __________ as long as the __________ hates the ____________. Once Love is shown without expectation to change, then love is returned and true faith is found.

To all Christians who hate atheists I present this challenge to you:

Go somewhere where they don't know you that is absolutely dominated by Christianity. Pretend to be an atheist for one month or even half a year. Be respectful, never be insulting in any way, and always be diplomatic with how you express your beliefs.

I can guarantee you, it will be an eye opener.

Because you will never understand the atheist experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes.

Regardless of how respectful and diplomatic atheists may be, Christians and other theists have a lot of hostility towards atheists and are always attacking them and lieing about them in any way they can in order to put them down and keep them down.

When you experience this hostility and constant demonization, you will then understand why atheists are very hostile to Christians and other religions.

And it is not because of the hostility that some atheists express.

It is because Christians hate atheists because they don't have a belief in God and simply want to be left alone and allowed to live their own life.

But far too many Christians always demand that everybody conform to their belief. Far too many of them always demonize anybody who isn't a Christian and can't ever understand why they fight back. You put people down for long enough and eventually people will begin to fight back.

And for some reasons, the Christians and other theist say you must sit down, shut up and never fight back.

Which is absolutely ludicrous.

Now the atheists bear their great burden as martyrs to the cause ? But avoidance of harsh persecution and martyrdom and defying of wolves in sheeps clothing brought the (holy) books to us in the first place .

And seek ye now to deny them ???

WHATEVER NEXT ???

Its funny I see miserable Atheists and I see miserable religious people I see happy athiests and happy christians. and I see many on both sides that are somewhere in between. The bickering between athiests and the religious seems pretty much the same on both sides of the fence. Athiests want to free your mind and the religious want to free your soul. Both feel strongly about their beliefs and stick up for their beliefs. Neither can be convinced of what the others believe. Athiests alot of times feel they are being attacked from every which way with religious propaganda. Now this is my opinion and I in no way speak for either group as a whole. I am agnostic and anti religion so make of this what you will.

It says in the Bible "love thy neighbor". It doesn't say "love thy neighbor unless they're an atheist, or a homosexual, or a Jew".

Now here's a thing from a muslim perspective, It's stupid when some atheists say if everything has a creator then who created God? Before the universe came into being there was no such thing as time, energy nor matter. They were all created in an instant from nothingness. Since God created time, He is outside of time, therefore He has no beginning in time, He has always existed. It's so pathetic how people coin similitudes for God. You were once just a drop of fluid, not even visible to the naked eye. You’ve grown in your mother’s womb. Look at yourself now, how perfectly and beautifully you have been designed. Humans cannot even fully explain their own creation yet they set similitudes for God. It's so pathetic, and this is why God Himself, in the Qu'ran says:

“Does not man see that We have created him from a mere sperm drop? Yet lo! he is an open quarreller! And he coins similitudes for Us and forgets his own creation. He says, ‘Who can quicken the bones when they are decayed?’ Say, ‘He, Who created them the first time, will quicken them; and He knows every kind of creation full well.” [36:78-80] And again: “Did We not create you from an insignificant fluid, and We placed it in a safe place, for a known measure of time? Thus did We measure, and how excellently do We measure!”. [77:21-24]

Do this… go look at yourself in the mirror for a few minutes and reflect, who was it that actually created you? Did you design your beautiful eyes, hands and body? Of course not. If a simple thing like a pen has a creator, what on earth makes you think the most complex being in the universe does not? So as God, the Gracious, the Merciful, says, , “So let man consider from what he is created.” [86:6]

You obviously don't know many atheists do you. Some of the most negative people I know believe in God. The most light hearted optimists are atheist (or rather humanists).

You quite clearly have a problem with something or somebody in your life. Seek help you need it. If the help is solice in God then so be it !!!!!!!!! Yeah you read me right, an atheist recommending belief in a mythical creature. But only because a calm belief is far less damaging than the hateful spite that is flowing through your veins right now. Carry on like this and you will be burning witches......

Personally, I don't really have a problem with Atheists in general. What I do have a problem with is those that take their Atheism to the point where they become as annoying and preachy as a Bible thumper Christian.

I mean, there are some Atheists that get really up in your face about it. You'll notice that a lot of their arguments are exactly the same as fundamentalists of a religion, every bit as preachy as the Evangelists I grew up with. I mean, I understand that Atheism isn't a religion.

My question is: why don't they?

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

We need to treat atheists as we would anyone else. For a time I was an atheist and if you had condemn me at that time you would be condemning a saved man that found his faith.

I believe we have the term of our life to find our faith in God. You will not convert anyone, with ridicule or hatred.

Show love to Christians, nonbelievers, atheists or believers in other faiths. That is the way to the light.

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

I turned to Atheism after I found myself turning into a hate filled hypocrite like you!
I then opened my eyes and explored the REAL origins of the Bible and learned the truth!
Yeah, I was devastated at first, cause reality can be really scary!
But since then, my life has improved exponentially!
And I couldn't be happier.....

The only miserable one I see here is YOU...

I agree, You should seek help.....

To be truly atheist implies sure knowledge that God does not exist.

As no human being can say this, then most who would class themselves as atheist are in fact agnostic.

That is to say, they do not have the knowledge of the existence, or non-existence of God.

Unfortunately, many believers in God are also agnostic (they do not have direct knowledge of the existence, or non-existence of God) and this is where semantics is a problem.

We all have a path through our beliefs and we must be careful to NOT be the very thing we oppose.

Love one another & seek wisdom. All else is vanity and striving after the wind.

So, so true.

Everyone has to make up their own mind about religion and spirituality. There simply is no way around it. No one can force you to feel or believe anything that you don't really feel or believe. Theists have made their choice. I think it's silly, but it's their choice and I respect that they have made it.I respect that their faith is serious and important to them. In no way do theists ( in general) respect that atheists have made their choice in the same manner and that our lack of faith is just as serious and important to us.

Because atheism isn't a club like religion is, there is no dogma. You can't lump all, many, or any atheists together. The only thing we for sure have in common is a disbelief in a deity. That's it. And that doesn't tell you anything about the group or the individuals like say, Christianity, does. We don't have a rule book or a leader. So judging me based on what Penn Jillette does because we're both atheists is no different than judging me based on what Penn Jillette does because we're both white. I don't think theists can really wrap their heads around that because they have so completely given themselves over mentally to the idea of a group when it comes to matters of spirituality.

All that being said, when it comes right down to it, atheism offends the theist on a primal level because we reject the very reason for their being and yet......we're all still here. We're not raping and robbing and murdering en masse. We're members of our communities that love our families and have jobs and thus prove that you do not need a god to be good. It must be terrifying for them.

The people you are unhappy with are those who forcefully push their perspectives on others.

There are Christians who do this.

There are atheists who do this.

There are Baltimore Ravens fans who do this.

It's a matter of a person's behavior, not their belief that bothers you. Don't over-generalize.
