It is a basic understanding to realise that everybody has a right not to have acid thrown on them, and so the little dance continues..........

I am not into assumptions, you can assume what you want to fill your spasy little agenda- all we know is that the woman, in this case, was an evil acid throwing bitch, no assumptions needed, now burn yer bra and move to Pakistan in solidarity- won't hold my breath on that last point eh
Woman are owned by their husbands. They can not leave or divorce without the husband's permission.
That is FACT. And that is oppression.
I'm not the one assuming. That would be you.

The dance will stop when you stop insinuating that im okay with her throwing acid on him...
Does everyone have the right to a divorce??
You are, by your comments, you are giving an excuse to these actions because of divorce.
If I lived in a world where I could not divorce my wife without her consent, I would still not acid attack her- I could not be any more consistent or fair now could I
In the UK we have a right to divorce and a man and a women can still not agree to it, so are you asking me about the state, or about an individual having an opinion- a person has the right not to agree to it, I have women friends who did not agree to the divorce (knowing their husbands, they would not have attacked them with acid if they lived in a state which prevented it, and if they had I would have called them b******s)

hate the idiocy of your argument being highlighted much?

How am i giving excuse when i dont agree with what she did?
Good for you, but you haven't noticed, there's almost 7billion people in the world who would disagree with your chosen course of action.
From a personal perspective, do YOU believe that people (man or woman) have a right to get divorced regardless of whether there partners agree or not?edit on 11-5-2012 by SearchLightsInc because: Its late, im not typing very well!

You are, you are assuming, like a 19th century WESTERN imperialist, that you can speak for Pakistani women, as if you know better, for all you know, they know better
Specifically, in this case, you are assuming, the only facts are that he did not want a divorce- WOW, men and women often don't want divorce, still in no way excuses acid attacks
Your argument leads to the excuse that women in mini skirts deserve getting raped- a ridiculous argument as rape is never justified- how do you justify this stance?
Marital rape legal in Afghanistan- Mavis Leno reveals new laws in Afghanistan but same problem
Jul 20, 2009 "A new Afghan law would make Shiite women virtual prisoners in their own homes and sanction marital rape." Mavis Leno lets her husband, Jay Leno, take the stage when it comes to jokes. However, Mavis is deadly serious when she speaks to the world about Afghanistan and its oppression of women. She has been telling the world about the Taliban since 1996, when the Taliban took over Afghanistan.
Mavis' focus at the moment is a new matter emerging in Afganistan. Laws that are regressing women's rights. Law making is moving in the wrong direction. The Afghan parliament has legally given the Shia community their own government state and rights. This new state's law will disallow Shia women to leave her home without a male relative and would also make it illegal for a woman to say no to sexual intercourse. www.allvoices.com...

look back through your posts, all one would not follow without the other sort of reasoning
sorry, what, 7 billion, where, how and when- please direct me to the reasoning for this inference?!?!?
I do- though I think divorce should be a bit harder than it is in the UK, regardless of whether the instigator is male or female-ultimately, yes, divorce should be available but as a rule society will be better off with stable family life
Once again for the record, the women in my life are precious and I do not hate them so please retract your earlier comment

The above does not answer my question, can you provide specific evidence that i agree with what this woman did, or that i feel that what she did is excusable?
What im pointing out sweetheart is that not everyone would do the same as you - Some people, men and women, would throw acid over there spouses for wanting a divorce, thankfully you were obviously raised in a culture where this is not acceptable and therefore, unlikely to happen.
My mother refused to leave my father and destroyed the family with her alcoholism. Staying together for the kids isnt always the best option, neither is insinuating others knows what's best for everyone else. Imo, divorce should be as freely available as marriage.
I happily retract my comment.

Hardly a mystery, the men have been doing this to the women for a long time... it's about TIME the women in the middle east stood up ...I don't support acid in the face EVER .. but I can't see the mystery of the post ... the women have gone through it plenty ... there was never a "mystery of the acid attacks on WOMEN" post...

Yeah this is quite scary though, you don't know if someone walking by you on the street might just throw acid in your face, I remember a very attractive woman in Australia last year was completely disfigured in a random attack.
Pakistans Burnt Beauticians
\The women in this popular Pakistani beauty salon are having manicures, pedicures and blow dries. They gossip, read magazines and talk on their mobiles. It is a familiar scene. But this is no ordinary salon. Saira, who dries their hair, only has one eye, and nineteen plastic surgery operations have done little to repair her burnt face. While, Urooj, who paints their nails is disfigured by the burns that cover 70% of her body. They are part of a horrific trend in Pakistan, where husbands, suitors, and brothers burn the women they are supposed to love.
Saira's family married her off when she was in her teens on the condition that she wouldn't live with her husband until she had finished school. But, just a few months after the marriage, he began demanding she move in with him. She refused. One day, he turned up at house unannounced and threw a bottle of sulphuric acid over her. Urooj's crime was giving birth to a daughter instead of a son. One night, as she slept, her abusive husband covered her in kerosene and then set her alight. adrianfisk.photoshelter.com...
