30 yrs ago I was involved in an accident that was not my fault. I received two checks for the same claim, being a young struggling
musician, I justified it the best I could and cashed them both, they never caught it. It was the wrong and dishonest thing to do and I knew it when I
did it. It always weighed on my conscience even many yrs later. Without going to far into it, I did finally make my amends for my actions and
was basically told to not worry and forget about it.
Lessons learned, don't do things that you may eventually have to make amends for later, it's not worth it. Life's much easier down the
line, if you do your best to keep your side of the street clean. I've learned this many times over (slow learner lol). I feel our actions are what
shapes us to be the people we are. When you know it's wrong to steal but do so anyway, that is something you will have to live with for ever. I
think it all depends on the moral values you have set for yourself as a human being and how well you want to sleep at night. Some peoples bar is
lower than others. I wonder how well Bernie Madoff sleeps?
