They would rip you off wouldnt they? If they could they would find some fine print and tell you they dont cover acts of god or flood damage or whatever else they could think of. And ripping off an Insurance Corporation is pretty much a victimless crime. A corporation has no face and you are only helping them raise premiums and keeping them in business.

Its also very easy and hard to mess up. Contents Insurance scams are easy. Most insurance places dont want you to prove what you 'own',they just take your word for it over the phone. Its easy to have your car stolen and burnt out,you can even strip it before its burnt. Its easy to 'accidently' burn down your house and have it replaced with a better one if you insure the hell out of it.And like I said, its so hard to mess up. Its so hard for insurance investigators to prove you are scamming them unless you are a moron.

Im not encouraging anyone to try it. You could go to jail if caught. But my question is,would it make you a bad person to rip off a corporation? I think ripping off a corporation is kind of like a vigilante act. It can be justified.

So are you a bad person if you rip off a corporation?

I am biased. I am currently in the process of being ripped off by an insurance company. Essentially, the agent was dishonest committed fraud. Very long story.

But, no, I would not try to rip them off. Heck, it's hard enough to just collect what is fair.

Nah, probably not. Just because corporations are greedy thugs doesn't mean I have to be.

Yeah. I told my Dad to up his insurance and I would fire bomb his house for him while he was out. He says Karma will get him.

Im not sure if its a bad thing to do though. I hate corporations.

If something happened that would require me to do it anyways,
I would take them for everything i can. I would not feel bad either. As for deliberately doing so?...

I would have to be extremely, extremely desperate.
Do i feel bad when people do it to large corporations? No. Corporations have made profit off the suffering of millions of people. No qualms taking from them. I'd even donate a whole bunch of it to worthy causes.

I think fire investigators are more informed then you give them credit for. If a house burned down, they usuually find the culprit, especially if there is death involved.

Hell yeah
Imagine if we all did it as a mass action. It could be a form of protest against corporatism.

Yeah, but I know a chick that accidently burnt down her house by leaving the heater on. She got a new house that was of greater value. And thats her fault.

If my Dad has made an enemy through business or someplace, its not out of the question for his house to be fire bombed. And I am confident I could do it without getting caught. And I wouldnt kill anyone,I said I would do it while he was out.

I also used to know a guy that did this stuff for a living. He never got caught. Its hard to mess up.

Who do you think corporations are? When you rip off as corporation, who do you think pays? I do. I pay higher premiums to offset the the fraud in insurance claims. You, and a whole lot of people, have this attitude that "corporations" are faceless profit seekers hell bent on ripping YOU off, so you feel justified in ripping THEM off. Let me tell you a little story.

I started an insurance company.

"We" were small government entities: Not state, not Federal, but composed of cities, countiers, libraries, fire districts, etc. The small guys of government. We were all paying an incredible amount for insurance premiums for liability of all sorts, auto, health, etc. Millions and millions of dollars. So we formed a [State name goes here] State Governmental Entities Pool, hired professional management, and went about taking care of ourselves, hoping to save ourselves and the taxpayers a boatload of money because, of course, we were totally non-profit. Nobofy was getting high salaries. No stockholders were getting dividends. We were under the same regulations as anyone else, and we lasted about a decade before going bankrupt.

Now you could say that we just hit the Perfect Storm as we had a series of claims with high medical costs, but what really hit us was tha arsons. Several buildings were burned to the ground and we simply did not have enough money to pay to rebuild them. What happend was that we assessed ourselves an extra 'premium' (I think ours was $40,000) to close out the debts of the pool, and we disbanded. The point is that it is difficult to make a profit with insurance.

Now, were we defrauded? Probably. Nationally speaking insurance fraud for automobiles is above 10%. Bogus injury claims are over $2 billion annually. Property/casualty fraud is in the 10% range as well. So in real terms I am paying over 10% more in premiums for my house and car insurance simply because people defraud the company and get away with it. That cost comes out of MY pocketbook. So when you attempt to justify your crime by saying it's "just a corporation," you are not just ripping off the corporation. You are ripping me off of my hard earned money.

So, all I can say is that I support their efforts to combat fraud, and if you do it, I hope you get caught.

Thats pretty interesting. I think the big guys are the ones to go for.

And yeah, people would have ripped you guys for sure. Its so easy.

I kinda think premiums would be high anyway. I dont think its a bad thing to rip off a large corporation. I think its good.

You were a small insurance company, not a large corporation. And a non profit at that.

I am not being snarky, bless your heart for trying to provide affordable insurance, but there is a difference.

My step aunt started an insurance company, and were multi millionaires in just a matter of 3-4 years.

If I knew that I could get away with it, then I would do so without a moment's hesitation. Wrong? Probably. But knowing that they regularly mess people over eases my conscious.

I dont think its wrong. And you can get away with it. Its too easy.

Accountants are mostly criminals. They want you to lie so they can help you out. They arent really criminals though because they know that the government are the real criminals. I think ripping off a large Insurance Corporation is kind of similar. Im sure Robin Hood would consider it.

Yes without a doubt.

They have been bending us over the table for decades. Eff them and the control they have over our lives.

EDIT: I live in Mass where we are forced to have and pay for insurance. If we do not we are levied with all sorts of things. Like not getting our taxes back. Getting arrested. Paying fines.

Ha! Cool edit. I agree,F Mitt Romney

And yeah,it seems they have forced us into insurance. Its not worth having for the most part. Especially car insurance. The excess is generally so expensive that you can fix things yourself for less if the damage is minor. And the profits the big Insurance Corporations make is huge.

Eff them.
