Yet again you cant tell the difference between the different satellites.
The pic you posted is from the Solar Dynamics Observatory, not SOHO.
If you took the time to go to the SDO homepage, you'd see up to date images, not from helioviewer which is ALWAYS some time behind for everything.

Anyway, it cant be much of a conspiracy to hide the sun if both of the STEREO satellites and the SDO are still working.

For the last 7 days, speed and density has peeked a little bit, together with a south turn of the EMF.
That could be the cause.
But i don't know of how many days in the past you are speaking.

Here are 3 pics that I took on 2012-05-03, 2012-05-05 and 2012-05-06 in Ha light. As you can see the sun looked quite normal. (nice protuberances on Saturday's pic. Unfortunately the sequence I took today is not good enough to paste here, as I only had a couple of minutes for visual observation before the clouds moved in.

You shouldnt blame SOHO, it's the fault of those frikkin aliens.
Wandering around our star, just like that, without asking.
Who do they think they are?

HAARP data
NICT real time magnetosphere simulation offline
Cascadia seismographs

Am I missing anything? A pattern, or coincidence? Thanks for bringing it to our attention Puterman, ya got me curious as well.

That magnetosphere reversal thread which has recently
gained traction for some odd reason, had me questioning it
way back in the original thread.
People said it was a glitch. hmm..
If so, it was the most modeled reverse flow against
a solar wind glitch, I've ever seen.
Glitches are haphazard.
Not perfectly able to model the Earth getting it's ass slapped
hard by something strong enough to push the solar wind away.

Those are awesome!

But you are only picking up H-Alpha, the strange "Keyhole-esque" features were in Extreme Ultraviolet frequency and that is the data that is down. You can still see current sunspot and Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager data...so unless you have an Ultraviolet filter they still could be hiding something.

Thanks for the compliment. Still battling to get a good workflow going. When I have more time, will try some ideas that I am playing with, but now I just want to get good enough for the transit of Venus. I know some simple tricks that I'll try before then, and I need to get a more reliable focus on the Ha telescope. Will try to fit a motorized focuser some time this week, then I should need less time to setup and calibrate everything.

Not to hi-jack this thread but do you do stacking with visible light sun images? I am trying to get better detail out of mine doing this but I use a DSLR which for some stackers is too much.

Oh and what kind of HA scope you got?

It just seems very strange that so much is down or malfunctioning all at the same time and so many unexplained auroras over the past months. Maybe that is all it is, strange but I suppose because it is deathly quiet on the earthquake front (*whistles at fate*) at present I have more time to think. Very bad for me!

I also don't take it lightly if Puterman is concerned about something...he NEVER gets riled up (unless you mention that bibleoteca escapade site or whatever it's called).

I seriously doubt this has anything to do with the problem with SOHO or seismos, however there is a thread with a video entitled "Giant UFO Holy Poop!" where an unexplainable large doughnut looking object is stationed right beside the sun. The lady in the video provides pretty comical narration. Again, it's probably dust on a lens but who knows.

I agree the timing is curious...the sun "anomaly" appeared on the 2nd of May and SOHO went into Emergency Sun Reacquisition mode two days later. Thanks for not laughing me off this thread.

What the deuce! Aliens, Nibiru, Jupiter, dust, what's going on up there? A suspicious space donut appears and now the satellites are going down? Maybe aliens disabled them so we won't see them approaching? Who knows? 2012 is starting to heat up!
